Wildcat11, we wouldn't charge anything for pictures with the cheerleaders. Hopefully they can bring up a few of their swimsuit 2009-2010 calendars for distribution. What if we were able to get a few of the bikini ice fishing team gals up for the tailgate? There were about twelve of them at the EelPout Festival in Walker last February performing on stage.

I am not sure I would be interested is seeing Miss Eelpout? Yech  :P

What's scarier is someone actually must enter a contest to become an Eelpout girl. Do they have whiskers and an ugly tail? ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Not-so-good news on the Gunderson injury front.  Seems he tore his other ACL and damaged his meniscus in warm-ups for the Bethel game  :o

He plans on playing this season...it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

Duff,

Gunderson wears the protective knee braces after the injury last year, are you familiar with how that type of a brace will help if at all?  After all he did get this second injury WHILE WEARING the braces on his knees....ouch!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

No, I am not familiar with knee braces at all.  I'm one of the lucky ones to never have a serious knee injury.  I do know it is entirely possible to play without an ACL, but I don't know how it will affect his performance (ie will he be 50%, 75%, 90%???).  The kid is a stud and deserves props for giving it whirl, but I hope his expectations are realistic.

If Gunderson is out with a knee injury that would be a serious blow to the Johnnie Defense.  Did he get a medical redshirt last season?  If so, will he stay another year to play or graduate and move on with life?

He got a redshirt for last season to return this year.  I'm pretty sure he got a real job last spring and they allowed him to take a leave of absence this fall, so I would bet this season is his last shot, and that's why he'll try to play through the injury.

I recorded the Vikes game yesterday and watched it when got home last night.  Favre sure looked good.  But what was up with that O-line?  They played like they had signed a deal with Satan.  Against San Fran, they leaked like day old Depends and Favre was smacked around.  Yesterday, he could have put out a cabana chair, picked up a tan, read a chapter from his favorite novel and still get a pass away.

Next time they need to make sure the deal with Beelzebub includes their run blocking  :-\

If Hvistendahl could break Jerry Rice's record on a torn ACL and go for over 200 yds receiving in that game, I'm guessing Gunderson might be able to make it work.  I feel like a torn ACL is less of a liability for a D-lineman than a WR.  Then again, Hvisty only had to play one game that way, not the remainder of the season.

Check out this video of a 4 yr old kid doing an impression of Herb Brooks, simply classic (cite KFAN on the commute this morning).  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CdJTfGiRCI   :)

I can't talk Frank into coming up for the UST/SJU bash (and I'm not sure Dusty would let him set foot back on campus anyway...), but I will be there sporting a nice, new shirt from a Tommie friend that mocks the J's. I'd post the graphic here...but I'm not smart enough to do so.

I realize it's a week away, but what are people expecting in terms of a crowd? I can't get the D3 poll to load right now, but have these teams ever played each other when they're both in the Top 10?

Wonka-
Good questions, and I'm pretty sure Dusty would welcome you even with the purple shirt....after all TDT wears "lavender" from time to time as he is not afraid to show his feminine side, but I digress.

As for the crowd, it depends on the weather, but I would expect 10K+ especially if both teams are undefeated at the time.

As for Top 10 status, UST(d) isn't in the Top 10 and they have to beat the Cobbers before you start talking about stuff like that.

No matter what their records are going into the game the Tommies seem to play tough.

Please have Frank reconsider as we would welcome him at our tailgate party sporting his "Tommies Suck" jersey....classic!

As I recall, at the last Tommie game at Clemens Stadium Frank Rickard was not allowed to enter while sporting a shirt or jersey that had a really mild dig at the Tommies.     I was very disappointed in whoever it was that turned him away.

As a D-lineman he'll probably be able to play although it might hurt his explosiveness a little.  The actual torn ACL doesn't really hurt or anything, there is just a lack of stability and being a D-lineman and not having to make that many explosive cuts, etc. he can probably be fine.  The meniscus may cause some pain but as long as it isn't catching and locking his knee up he should be good.  I've seen a QB play with a torn ACL before as well, so it is possible.

As to the braces, I played with one the year after tearing my ACL (absolutely hated it), and they are supposed to help prevent some of the movements / twisting that commonly causes ACL tears, but obviously they must not be 100% reliable.

On another note, all is well in Northfield for another year as the Knights keep the goat trophy.  Looked much better than against Bethel, they are really young so they should continue to improve as the year goes on.

Good Wednesday my little piss ants!!

So TDT was at the game with TC yesterday afternoon/night.  It turned out to be epic on many levels.  Tremendous game.  Tremendous spine tingling atmosphere, etc.  Spotted HOFer Dave Winfield sitting in the front row with my buddy Marty Davis from Cambria.  Also saw Exercise legend Dick Enrico and just happened to spot Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski who sat in the 1st row down below TC and I in the stands.  This is where the story gets interesting.

Of course TDT was the only rube who recognized Dombrowski in the stands.  Knowing he was the guy who picked up Miguel Cabrera from the Clink on Saturday morning at 7:30 after he was beating on his wife after arriving home from partying with the White Sox Ozzie Guillen and Freddy Garcia at their team hotel in Detroit into the wee hours of the morning.  He then blew a .26 for the cops at the station.  Originally blamed the abrasions/bruises on his dog (how low can you go??) until the real details were disclosed.

So TDT spots this kid with a tremendous sign.  It says .323 AVG or B.A.C. an obvious dig at Miguel Cabrera's incident the previous weekend in the biggest series of the season.  TDT sees this sign and asks the kid if he knows who that is in the front row in the sportcoat.  He says no and I tell him.  Then, I say, "Hey why don't you ask Dave to autograph your poster?"  So he says sure great idea.  He goes down there and asks him to sign it.  Dave says, "Get the F outta here" Hahahahahahahaha.

Then a couple innings later TDT decides this is a perfect picture opportunity.  So I walk down the aisle 7 rows and tell the kid to get a little closer to Dombrowski.  He does and at the very last instant Dave turns his head slightly.  Bingo!!  Great pic...

So TC and TDT decide that this would be a terrific pic for the fellas at Deadspin.  I emailed them the pic late last night and sure as sh!t there it was this morning.  Live as the Wake Up Deadspin segment.

That picture is pricless....too bad Dombrowski isn't looking back at the camera more.

Touchdown Tommy

Yea it was liquid gold.  We couldn't get any cooperation from Dombrowski.  I am actually happy he turned his head this much since he was trying to ignore us/looking out at the field between innings.

Some pretty funny comments on Deadspin including "Mickey Mantle would never allow his BAC to drop that low" and "I didn't realize that Michael Buffer was such a stat geek"...
