Lets start a contest for "best caption" regarding the D3football.com homepage picture of Linfield v. Willamette.

My Offering:

"Leave No Doubt...this Willamette player does not have prostate cancer!"  ;D

My offering:
"you put the right hand .....do the hokie pokie"

"Which ball did coach say I should strip?"

I think UST found a more dangerous starting QB today in Dakota Tracy. He was simply unstoppable. An option QB that can throw a little bit. Should be interesting. My F - goes to their overall discipline. Stupid, stupid, stupid penalties. Over and over. It was nauseating at times. Hopefully they sharpen that up, because as we found out last week, sometimes the homerun isn't always there.

"Is that a football in your shorts or are you just happy to see me?"

EDIT: Linfield post game team dinner?  Bean and franks.

Best part of the ST Oalf and SJU game was the afterburners blazing when #10 caught the St Oalf breakaway run. Did you see that guy fly - he was like a rocket. Anyone see it - that was unbeleivable - really.

I did... it was my play of the game.

Can throw a LITTLE bit.  He looked good, and fast, but Carleton's D is far from an immovable object.  They have had trouble with their assignments this year and that has allowed running QBs (whoever Auggie Tech's QB is) to break some big runs.

Oh Cobbernation, don't even think about opening THAT can of worms.  St. Olaf's superiority to Carleton goes far beyond the gridiron.  And yes, I am aware that CC won the last two meetings.  But even a blind squirrel finds a nut (or two).

Can of worms is opened.  Lady's and gentleman, the major team sports between Carleton and St. Olaf for the 2008-2009 school year...

Men's Soccer: Carleton 2 Olaf 0
Women's Soccer:  Carleton 3 Olaf 2
Football:  Carleton 21 Olaf 7 (in dominating fashion I might add)
Volleyball: Carleton 3 Olaf 2
Men's Basketball:  65-47, 78-66 Carleton in both games
Women's Basketball:  62-61, 48-52 1-1 season split
Baseball: 6-7, 3-13 Olaf in both

I won't even mention the football game this year, and I don't have to mention the academics.

Can of worms closed.  ;D

Fellas just remember the Johnnies have two weeks to get Reis ready, that is alot of film time and repetitions in practice, also look for Rob Gabrielson from Sartell to get a look from the coaches and some reps as well.

I like the fact he is 6-3 and can really wing it down the field, he has some zip on his passes, he was nervous and had a lot juice running through him, he will be calmer next time out against Auggy in a game that is on the road but being in the dome not really a true road game where the Johnnies fans should be equal if not surpass the number of Auggy fans.

I'm just throwing this out there, and it's just an opinion, and don't crucify me but...

There was all this talk last year about the MIAC being down, but I see that more this year than any other.  CCM is down big time.  Carleton and Auggie Tech had great offenses last year, and this year there is a significant lack of offense anywhere in the MIAC.  SJU seems to me to be overrated.  After watching them and listening to them, I just don't think they are worthy of a top 5 ranking.  Good defense, yes, but that O is very ungood, and is the D any better than last year?  Bethel is about the same as last year, Olaf about the same, and UST is better.

And maybe it's not that they're down this year, but they're just not better than last year.

I think SJU will win out and get a good seed which will lend them to winning a playoff game or two.  But to be ranked #5 or whatever they are, I'd expect them to have a shot to go deep, and I just don't see it.  Maybe they will and I'll be proved wrong, and this whole pound out a game, score 14 points and win will work, but I would be surprised if it does.

Silent K- Carleton will never be superior to Olaf, even if they win every sporting even for a decade straight.  I don't expect you to understand this, just go with me on it.  ;)

As much as it pains me to agree with K, I really can't fault your logic on this one.

When CCM beat the NWC power Willamette to start the season, I was expecting big things out of a team that has been utterly disapointing this season.

Carleton seems to be lost after graduating a great QB and offensive leader.

Auggie tech is just Auggie tech. like a roller coaster from year to year; big ups, big downs.

St. Olaf is a middle-of-the pack team. They've played the top teams in the conference and lost. They should finish 4th with wins over CCM, Gustavus, and Hamline.

Bethel is about the same as last year skill wise. They've just had bad luck. Getting beat vs. Wheaton AND SJU as time expired is just bad luck.

UST is better and it took overtime for the J's to pull it off. My problem with UST is their non-conference games. Yes, I know that it's been brought up on this board before, and I'm not trying to beat a dead horse so I'll leave it at that.

As far as my Johnnies go, I'm not entirely convinced that the #5 ranking is deserved, as much as it pains me to agree with you. Bethel was recieving votes in week 5 but unranked. UST was sitting at #15 when they met in Collegeville last week (and both home games), and as the season goes on, the Johnnie's WIAC opponents are looking more and more like the Sisters of the Poor instead of D-II programs in D-III clothing. As far as the offensive woes for the Johnnies- Boyle being dinged didn't help our cause and losing him took some adjustment that was difficult against a solid Ole Defense. With an extra week to prepare, don't expect a Metrodome Miracle for Auggie tech.

As far as a playoff run goes, so hard to say what will happen. West is stacked this year and it's all up to the committee...
