VOJ, it's understandable that a guy freezing his butt half the year in Detroit Lakes would develop an attachment to a warm weather professional team.  I don't agree but I understand. ;)  At least he's posting again.

Freezing my butt off, not in sunny DL! You obviously haven't visited our Chamber of Commerce's website. It's always sunny and 70 here!

I have been way too busy traversing the upper midwest hunting and fishing to work, let alone post!  ;)
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

I have solved my Christmas decorating dilemma...

Mine would be the house on the right.

And my computer does not have an embiggenator, so you'll just have to pull up a little closer to your screen.

Tmert, how do you really feel about USC?

USC?  I like the Gamecocks.  Or do you mean Southern Cal?

Never been a real big fan of Mr. Spurrier myself!

VOJ, it was a rhetorical question! I know full well Tmert's disdain for my favorite D-l football team.

Well no sense in rooting for the home state team...they were mediocre under Mason and bad under Brewster...roughly 50 years since a Rose Bowl trip...just lost their best player, might as well start the coaching search right now...no Axe trophy, the Pig has not been in the barnyard in quite some time....ugly to say the least

I'd say losing their best player is the best thing they have done.  Let the poor kid go and get ready for the NFL.

I would be a little careful there, for if Oxy tanks, your SOS takes a dive.

Yea and how much stock can you put into the win over Willamete who lost to our 7 or 8th place team?  Just imagine if USTd had beaten SJU, it would probably be Linfield 1, USTd 2, Central, UWW, Monmouth, Coe, SJU...etc

I suspect that SJU is better today than it was against River Falls and that Willamette is better today than it was against Concordia-Moorhead.

Otherwise, if your logic were the only way this could go, we'd have to assume that St. John's would be the sixth-best team in the WIAC, and I'm sure that's not the case.

What's not to like?  That's a well written article. ;D

wc11 - Since I'm sure you are aware, scheduling takes place a few years before the games are actually played, so it wasn't as if the Johnnies pulled out their Crystal Ball and "picked" the 'bottom dwellers" of the WIAC in advance. If you pull out your handy dandy Rand McNally (they still make those don't they?) you'll see it has much more to do with location, location, location.

In watching the UWW/UWRF tilt on FSN, I was stunned when the announcers weren't aware of who Eric Brewster is, and wondered about what story might explain why a kid from San Diego would come to UWRF to play football. I've only watched the first half so far, so maybe someone whispered in their ears later. I'm sure VOJ, and/or his crack staff would have fleshed out something like that beforehand.

Touchdown Tommy

If Hoag was in the Poll last week there is no way that TDT wins it.....

BTW: Gonna miss hanging with my pal W. Clark this week in Cville.  Might be a good idea to tune into the Big Ten Network on Saturday evening.  TDT has quite a costume arranged...

Also, FYI: Don't forget to arrive early next Saturday at the Metrodome.  The Twins are having a "Garage Sale" from 10am-4pm.  Enter at Gate F and parking is free at the Twins lot at the intersection of 5th St and 11th Ave.

Speaking of historical baseball stadia, I was reading up on Seals Stadium and found the following item of interest

Quote
In 1931, the Seals moved to their own park, Seals Stadium, an 18,600-seat facility located at 16th and Bryant Streets. Seals Stadium was unusual in that it boasted not two but three clubhouses: one for the visitors, one for the Seals, and one for the Missions, who moved there with the Seals and were the Seals' tenants from 1931 through 1937, after which the team moved back to Los Angeles to become the Hollywood Stars in 1938.

There were three breweries on the adjoining North West corners of Seals Stadium, which included
Hamm's, Budweiser and Lucky Lager.

Now those guys knew how to enjoy their baseball.

Nor did these boneheads mention Eric Brewster was previously on the UWW squad.

Well, unless you're the NCAC and have a team pull out of the league (that's what she said) which creates a situation where one former NCAC game is no longer an NCAC game and since all of your scheduling done by the league office (save one game) you can't really do anything about it.

Yeah, it's stupid and I'm mad that a bunch of smart guys from smart colleges can't re-do the 2010 and 2011 schedules the right way without having non-league NCAC games. Cripes, if Wabash wanted a non-conference game they sure as heck wouldn't schedule Kenyon.

might be a good idea to talk to the coach before the game...but that is just a little prep work there...speaking of, what a weird week without coaches to talk to and a spotter's board to create...

Point taken.  Pat maybe you have posted this...and I missed it, but do you have insight as to why the rankings for the first week ended up the way they did in the west specifically?
