Just making sure that I heard it correctly.  The tailgate festivities will be at hubert's this saturday before the auggie tech game??

That's correct... read all about it at www.JohnnieFootball.com
Check out the bartender at Hubie's, middle aged woman, attractive,...LBean's former high school throb...took her on one date...to a Twins game.
Go Johnnie's, I'm heading north in 3,2,1...

Thanks for the follow up fellas.  I will definitely keep a weather eye out for the attractive bartender.  For some reason the beer just tastes better when it comes from someone easy on the eyes.

Good luck Johnnies and all against the Auggies. I'll be there in spirit. Sorry to miss the Dome extravaganza. Keep the roll going to the playoffs and possible #1 seed. Whew!

I have an opportunity to visit The Buckeye State and see the Raiders play what was supposed to be a huge game against Otterbein. An ugly loss by the Otters to Marietta?????? last week has taken some of the bloom off this rose.

Earlier smack talk by the Otterbein 2nd string QB (who conveniently got hurt last week wink, wink) and childish smack talk at the 50 yard line last year before the kick-off will be more than enough to want this one to be a decisive W. Even the HC is playing games in the media announcing a variety of players who are "out for the season" on Tuesday who have magically appeared on their two deep release for tomorrows game. Miracles being worked  apparently by the medical staff at Otterbein!

The AQ and 18th consecutive conference championship add just a little more to a win as well.
Weather will not be a factor with highs in the low 60's and the sprinklers have been turned off for the season! ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Bartender?    And then some.    She owns the place with her husband.     I can't make it tomorrow so TDT will keep an eye on Jody  for me.

And make sure you try Hubert's brats.    Fantastic.     Right up there with what sju56321 brings up from Chicago.     Have fun.     Go Johnnies.

So I was bored and decided to check out the johnniefootball website for maybe the second time ever, and read the article about the two Johnnie receivers.  It was...interesting to say the least.

I've heard good things about both kids, but to say "there's no point in working that hard" irks me a little bit.  I don't doubt that it just came out wrong because it's hard to say what you want to say the right way the first time, but still.  I've done a little recruiting and have had kids come up to me and say they didn't like D2 schools because it was so much work, and they wanted to come to a more relaxed environment.  I stop them right there and tell them we won't own their lives like D2 schools, but we still work our tails off.  You can come in here and put little work in, but then you just won't be playing on Saturday.

Just wanted to get that in.  And I did like the comment on route running by one of them.  You don't have to be fast to be a good receiver.  It helps, but being able to run great routes makes up for a lack of speed.  It takes an immense amount of work to be able to run great routes.  I thought Vanderhyden ran pretty good routes when I watched him play, and this isn't something that can be said about a lot of MIAC receivers.

I don't think it was meant as, "D3 players don't work hard."  I think it was meant that it's a more relaxed atmosphere than D2.  In my days, we had several NDSU and SCSU transfers, and the stories they told of their practices were totally foreign to those of us that spent our entire careers at SJU.

LOL, I love this quote:

QuoteI remember one time he (Gagliardi) came up to me, and says "Hi, how's it going?"  I said, "Fine, John," and he looked at me and said, "Then why the hell did you miss that block on that D Back?"

I can remember similar conversations with John :D

I think SJU practices would be totally foreign to ANY football player, D3 or D2.

Just read the article about vanderheyden as well; Did not realize that he went to wazyata.  I've gotta imagine you can count on one hand the number of times a 14 year old kid watching his high school win a championship from the stands, would 5 years later go on to college and have an opportunity to play with some of the players he looked up to in high school.  especially rare as the starting quarterback...

maybe I've just got wazyata on the brain (watch out for #34) waiting for tonights beatdown of champlin park.
