Willy- I don't want to see that either, but because it is very difficult to beat a twice, in the same year.
My guess is that SJU or Central will end up #1, if they move UWW, so UST would likely be the #5 seed and travel to Monmouth. That would be a difficult game. The winner to play the #1 seed, so maybe it would be better to have SJU #2? But I don't think UST will beat Monmouth.

If SJU does see UST in the playoffs it'll be at St. John's in the quarterfinals.  The Tommies can look forward to a game vs Monmouth and then Central College.

The J's will open with Coe and then host Linfield in a 2003 playoff rematch.

Wow!

It's been so long since I have chimed in, it took me a while to figure out how to do this!
Here's hoping SJU finishes strong against the Knights - being at home will make a difference.
I hope UW-W goes north-east-south - I don't care - just please send them, somewhere!!
West region is loaded!  I hope we can secure a #1 seed (assuming UW-W gets sent somehwere!)
Central, Linfield, Monmouth... all very worthy opponents!
I hope for a UST-SJU rematch in Collegeville on 11-28....could be another "game for the ages"!!
Selfishly, I am hoping SJU is still playing at home on 11-28...I will miss 11-21 as I will be at UW-SP watching Ole women taking on the Pointers!  Dr. Dirk might need to explain how this happened to me!!  BTW - Dr. Dirk's son -  an outstanding LB for Eagan HS.  Making Daddy (and his godfather proud!)!!!

I sure hope the Tommies make the playoffs and end up playing against the J's again.  One week of full-volume TOMMIES SUCK! A year just isn't enough.

Go Tommies!  Because you suck.

From Pat Reusse's article fawning over USTD in the STrib this morning, which I read at the airport:

QuoteAnd guess what?  St. John's stands No. 3 in the West Regional ratings.  The top two receive first-round byes, making 3 vs. 6 logical mathematically as a first-round matchup.
"Plus, the NCAA likes to keep travel expenses as low as possible," Tommies cornerback Kris Kopp said.  "If we get in, sending us to St. John's makes sense.  And we'd like to go there."

The only accurate statement in this is that the NCAA likes to keep travel expenses as low as possible.  I emailed Mr. Reusse that the NCAA regions have 8 teams and no byes, and stanbob posted a response online as well.  The online version of the article has since been, uh, modified.  I'll let you know if I receive a thank you from Mr. Reusse.

Don't worry, Mr. Reusse and Mr. Kopp (and TDT and TC), the Johnnies would love to play the Tommies again, too.

Willy-

No one this season has been able to rush much against the Oles-- although the SJU fullback did pretty well I think.

Um...Really no one?

Because I think St. Thomas' running back had over 150 ( actually 176 on 24 carries) against them...Seems to me  that St. Thomas held their own against the Oles.

So...what are the playoffs like?

Overlook Northwestern and it won't matter ;)

Just because teams from Iowa can't beat crappy teams named Northwestern doesn't mean the same will hold true for teams from Minnesota.  Northwestern should essentially be a bye for St. Thomas, but still not kill them in OW%.

LOL was that a stab at the Hawkeyes?? Good one...still reeling from the 55-0 debacle last year or what?

Or was it the fact that I think Cornell is the only IIAC team to play Northwestern of the MIAC lately...
Reusse isn't the only one without his facts straight.

Northwestern is not a MIAC school.  Northwestern has played Simpson the last 2 years.  Playing Northwestern will help St. Thomas' OWP, even though Northwestern is having its worst season in a decade at 5-4.

bennie - When did the Blue Jackets turn into a bunch of Goons?  First Hitch puts out a hit on Ovechkin, and they unleash their gang of thugs by their bench where they all but stick a shiv in his ribs, then Nash slices up Cam Ward like a Thanksgiving turkey. CALL OFF THE DOGS!!

Fixed it for you.  Don't say anything bad about the Johnnies around here.  You might hurt someone's feelings.

Negatrometer.... I mean Johnnies are the best!.... they will win every game they play the rest of the year!  Stagg Bowl here we come!

Fixed it for you.  I don't think any of us are delusional enough to think the Johnnies are Stagg-bound yet.

UST playing Mac and Northwestern could ultimately give them a horrible seed in the playoffs.  I could see UST getting a 7 or 8 seed next Sunday.

Better to play Northwestern (5-4 in region) than Concordia (4-4).
