Let's see if I have it correctly. I'm going off the ice for a line change, and my path takes me past the opponents bench "looking for trouble", where an opponent decides to give me a shoulder shrug, I give it back to him, and I should expect to get set upon by the entire opponent's bench. I'll put that in my hockey Book O' Knowledge. This after the opponent's coach has declared he would hunt me down.

Because of this, the most exciting player in hockey is out of action. Maybe Voracek should watch his back.

The scrum had nothing to do with his injury. It was just the usual pushing and four lettered word greetings that players so often exchange. This clip that is supposedly of his injury shows that Torres (not Voracek) and Ovechkin ran into each other even thought they both seemed to be trying to avoid it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAywpjN6lZk If this is infact when he was injured, it was as much his fault as Raffe's...and I don't even particularly like Raffe! And you can't honestly think that Nash intentionally cut Ward!! :o He is not that kind of a player!

Since KS will be busy tomorrow.

November 11 is the day set aside to honor all Veterans of the Armed Forces of United States of America living and dead.  While we remember our fallen comrades who have paid the ultimate price today is also to thank our living Veterans for their service to our great nation.  Here is wishing all veterans a happy Veterans Day and many more and thank you for all you have done and all you are doing.

QuoteAnd guess what?  St. John's stands No. 3 in the West Regional ratings.  The top two receive first-round byes, making 3 vs. 6 logical mathematically as a first-round matchup.
"Plus, the NCAA likes to keep travel expenses as low as possible," Tommies cornerback Kris Kopp said.  "If we get in, sending us to St. John's makes sense.  And we'd like to go there."

Have the Johnnies & Tommies played more than once this season?  I saw them play at Clemens Stadium on Oct 17 and considering the Johnnies were playing "without" their starting QB controlled the game offensively and defensively.  The Tommies were gifted with 2 short fields that lead to scores and they should be applauded for capitalizing.  But I don't get the "bring it on attitude" that UST players & supporters are displaying about a potential return to Clemens.  Sounds like fake bravado to me.

The Tommies were lucky to have the Oct 17 game go to OT considering the Boyle injury and the near meltdown by the SJU special teams.  They've lost 12 straight to the Johnnies and haven't won at Clemens since 1986.  Additionally the Johnnies rarely lose at home and it's even rarer for them to drop a late season or playoff home game.

The Johnnies last home playoff loss was in 1999 to eventual National Champion PLU.  Since that time they have gone 9-0 at home in the playoffs and outside of a Nov loss to Bethel in '06 and an Oct loss to CON in '04 (Johnnies were not a playoff team) they haven't lost late season home game of any kind in the last 10 years.

Point being: The Johnnies get better as the season goes on.  The players and coaches adjust to what has & hasn't worked and they always add a wrinkle or two that helps the playoff push.

@ AO and Cobber posters:

Do us all a favor. When you are quoting an ongoing conversation, edit the amount you quote. We don't need a recap of the same quote string over and over. Not to mention it takes up nearly half a page.

Ben,

Are you the new moderator of the board?  I will keep my quotes to a minimum.  I guess when you try to have fun someone has to be johnny raincloud.

You're right. There's absolutely zero chance that the Tommies could beat SJU at Clemens Stadium in a rematch. I mean, the Johnnies SMOKED them last time...by 3 in overtime with UST's quarterback, who's since been benched, playing like complete poo.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

In debating parlance, that post is best labeled "non-responsive."

Should the twins really sign pavano to a deal?  Is there a chance to send some farm kids somewhere for Halladay?  The twins need a veteran pitcher to help out the young guys with composure and leadership.

I LOVE that kind of a stat...don't get me wrong, I really respect SJU, and would be pulling for them against UST, and would expect them to win 8 out of 10 games...but that part of the quote just cracked me up.

They haven't lost at home late in the season in the past 10 years, except when they lost at home, late in the season within the past 10 yrs.   :D

Touche GoldandBlueBU.  But to defend the point...including the 9-1 playoff record since '99 the Johnnies are 37-3 (93%) at home in late season (Oct & beyond)  games.  Are they beatable? Well yes, just ask PLU, CON, Bethel.

So given the history what is working in the Tommies favor should they make a return to Clemens?  A new QB?  The Johnnies will have a "new" QB as well if Boyle is able to return so I'd call it a wash at best.  And isn't it possible that the Johnnie D had something to do with previous starter looking so poor back in the first match up?

Touchdown Tommy

ROR: You are a fountain of knowledge.  I was aware that Omer was the owner, but did not realize he was a Tornado.  What year did he graduate?  We'll have to meet there over the offseason to talk some pigskin.  BTW: Your brother Leo makes a surprise cameo in Touchdown Tommy's weekly column...

CC to the Mayor:  Where are the pictures of Bambi?  I know you are hiding in the weeds.

bennie - I hope you know me well enough from reading my impish posts here, that I have great respect for Nash, and in no way thought he had any intention to hurt Ward. It was just too good not to say at the time in the spirit of my post. By the way, his move on Green to score his goal was SWEEEET! though it hurt at the time. I know Ovie went off after his encounter with Torres, but by all accounts I've heard, and logically believing that that innocuous hit didn't cause the injury, he was hurt in the scrum at the bench. I even heard a caller on NHL Live say he saw someone on the bench cross check him under the shoulder on the back, although I never saw that, nor have I seen a replay.

I can't find any footage of the scrum in front of the bench on-line. I just remember that it started because Jason Chimera shoulder bumped Ovie and Ovie then turned and shoved Chimmer. It doesn't suprise me that some player (regardless of team) might try to get a shot in from the bench when these things happen. I thought that refs watch for that, but they obviously don't catch everything. When I think of dirty teams I also happen to cheer for, I think of Anaheim and Calgary, not the Jackets. Cory Perry is on my "Kick in the shins and run list"...and he is a Duck! ;D

You will have to forgive me for doubting the voracity of "a caller on NHL Live". Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me! ;)

You're right, it was Chimera. I guess you see the western teams more, so I will add the Maple Leafs to your list
