UST Faithful(&AO)

What are the chances Northwestern College pulls a minor upset over UST?

Well it would hardly be a "minor upset." It would be an absolute disaster. Considering that I saw the 8 - 1 Northwestern team barely get across midfield in a 41 to 0 bloodletting last year, a Monkeystomp of epic proportions seems inevitable. Northwestern just sucks so hard.

QuoteA West Region Title on the line in a Johnnies vs Tommies game...wow...

Wow,not. Interest would fall off these boards like a hodad digging a rail. (fast)

If you leaving means a drop off on this board, I'm all for it.  :)
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Not that easy, bud.  I been hangin' around here the last 3 years with no dog in the fight. This may be nice, friendly Division III but I can always root against some team.   :)

Still don't think that interest would drop off this board, the winter dormancy on the northwest board could start early though.

Redding does make a difference, he is the leading rusher, has the quickest feet, gets the tough yards and knows the plays almost like a QB, he does direct some traffic out there...

The only thing I disagree with is that Redding has the quickest feet.  While he delivers a beating running between tackles, I don't see him as having great moves.  Unleash Johnson!!!  ;D

Agreed, Duff.  Reding's only "move" seems to be running right at the defense.  Not to say he isn't good at that, but against the good MIAC defenses he's played this year (Concordia, Bethel, St. Thomas, St. Olaf) he's had 78 carries and none have been longer than 9 yards.  Maybe he has the speed to break a big run against good, playoff-caliber defenses, but he hasn't shown it this year.

I have a feeling Johnson is the most talented running back on the team.  Considering how fresh he is right now, I'm excited to see how he does this week and throughout the playoffs.

The weather is going to be good and the Tarter to Thomforde (Johnnie fans may remember him as the player who scored the game-tying touchdown against the J's back in '05) connection should be available.

It's amazing (and embarrassing) the straws you will grasp at in your desperate quest for relevancy.  Just think of how epic that 7-7 tie would have been if St. John's just wouldn't have scored those last 50 points...

Wimmer will be getting a new helmet, he will be back for the first playoff game next week...don't sleep on Billy Lawrence, when he has been on the field he makes plays has a couple of interceptions in his career and had 5 tackles after coming in for Wimmer against Augsburg...

I know listed heights and weights are dubious at best, but at 6-4, 255 Lawrance is bigger than any of St. John's defensive linemen.

That was my attempt to involve the Johnnies in the post (as I'm aware of who makes up the majority on the board), not to pump up Northwestern.   But now that you mention it, I do believe Thomforde is the best d3 receiver in the state.

My sources tell me that the Schneider kid from ROCORI is just as talented.  Can't wait till they're both healthy!!!

I've heard similar things.  I think his injury this year is a blessing in disguise if he's as good as people think he can be and he sticks around for a 5th year.

Oh.  I think I speak for all Johnnie fans when I say that if you're rehashing great moments in Northwestern Eagles football history for our benefit you can probably stop.  As much as we'd love discussing a non-conference cupcake game from 5 seasons ago, the Johnnies actually have some playoff games to look forward to this year.  Maybe you could take that discussion over to the UMAC board.  I hear it's going to be a long offseason and it's going to start in about 24 hours.

Just heading back home from the Christmas parade in the city.  I took the youngest Oz for a view of Santa.  Little did dad expect that Santa's helper on the sleigh would be former Ms Universe Jennigfer Hawkins in a little summer dress number.  Thank God I had fought my way through the ranks of Japanese and Chinese tourists to secure my girl a space on the barrier.  I can confirm that from 10 feet away Hawkins is stunningly beautiful.  Wow.

Quite the diverse set of events for today.  I'm now sitting at an ice rink with #2 as her gymnastics squad has a half their Saturday practice with a beat-the-heat fun day.  Her first time on the ice and this proud father thinks he can see a bit of natural Minnesota instinct showing.

The discussion is not about the Johnnie-Northwestern game from 5 years ago.  The only game with playoff implications in Minnesota tomorrow is the Northwestern vs St. Thomas game.
