Potential SJU-UST match-up in the second round, not the West region championship that some people were predicting.  Also, Central gets an unfavorable draw as they have to play Mary Hardin Baylor in the first round.

I would not be surprised to see Monmouth best UST by a comfortable margin-Monmouth has almost their whole team back from last year and they have an outstanding QB.
Should be interesting for SJU v. Coe, I sure hope Boyle is back.

It'll be a good game, Monmouth also hasn't played anyone as good as St. Thomas yet.

My money is on Monmouth, UST playing away and in the playoffs for the first time in nearly 20 years.  One step at a time boyz.

SJU will do Coe just like we did back in '02... no Fredie Jackson this time 'round either for Coe.

See you in Collegeville.

6 of the top 10 teams still in the west.
Should be an interesting playoff!

I would be very surprised if we don't see a UST/SJU matchup in the 2nd round.

As for the 3 pass interference calls, I though the first two were flagrant and anyone would have called them.  The third one was closer, but I still think it was pass interference.  Maybe we need to be more concerned with our DBs getting torched and needing to commit interference than with Adam doing his job.  He was an unbelievable receiver and he's a tremendous guy, to boot!

Pretty certain I will be there.  You?

Odds of a non-MUC/UWW Stagg are looking pretty slim to me right now.

As much as I'd love to see Monmouth put the hurt on UST, simply basing my opinion on what I saw at SJU a few years ago, I think the Tommies might actually pick up a playoff win this week  :-[

The real question is will the Roush be there???  :D

Oh, and Sartell's got St. Thomas Academy in the state semi-finals this week.  Hopefully, both Tommie teams lose :)

Just wait a few years when Blake Elliott's a back judge and calls a bunch of penalties on the Johnnies. Even he won't be immune from the ire of SJU fans.

Maybe Herbst is upset that hardly anyone mentions him when people talk about the best receivers in school history, although I still haven't forgotten the dropped pass against Concordia in the game that ended in a tie - and ended SJU's playoff hopes - in 1995.

Johnson was the first freshman since Korey Dean in 1992 to rush for 100 yards in a game. Where'd he go after that? Anyone know what happened to him after his freshman season, which also included a 5-touchdown game? Because Malmberg was the main guy in 93 and 1994 and I don't remember him at all in 1995.

I will take these points in order:
-Blake will never join the dark side and officiate against the Johnnies.  8) 8) 8)
-Herbst is one of the best receivers in SJU history.  His success has been overshadowed by Blake, but it makes it no less significant.
-As a senior in 92 when Dean was a freshman I can tell you his talent was incredible.  When a play was called most times he improvised.  He would come into the huddle and say, "Gimme da ball"  We would ask him where he was running and he would tell us that he would find a hole (not the easiest guy to block for).  After football he had a few personal and academic issues that had him return home to the Kansas City area.  His departure turned into an opportunity for the offense in 93 to find Malmberg and allowed Seiler to throw all over the field.
-I'm a little surprised that Chris Moore didn't have a 100 yard game in 97 as a freshman when he led the team in rushing.

Back on page 3272, 105 mentioned the SprinTurf installation and its relevance for the playoffs in response to a question about moving playoff games in the Dome.  One of the primary reasons we installed the SprinTurf was to ensure that EARNED home playoff games would not to moved due to poor field conditions.  Two games have been moved in the last 20 years; in 1991 we were forced to move the West Region championship game against UWLAX (also known as Steroid U in those days) into the Dome due to snow and extreme cold (although the week before we beat COE 75-2 with temps below zero for the game), the 2001 West Region championship game against PLU was moved to the Fargo Dome (the Metro Dome had a monster truck rally scheduled) due to the grass field at Clemens being destroyed the week before when we beat UWSP in 3" of rain (while 18" of heavy wet snow fell the next day- that was not removable because the ground was not frozen).  Crappy field conditions have never favored an SJU team, although several teams have attempted to create them when SJU was coming to town (Bethel and STO) and the WIAC schools have been notorious over the years for not fully disclosing that their fields were cow pastures in the playoffs.

Less than an hour to see the SJU playoff draw....I sure like the regions that D3 is proposing.

Interesting info on Dean. Sounds like quite a character and a great talent.

The Johnnies also played a playoff game in the Metrodome in 1996, against Simpson. I think the field was frozen that year. They beat Simpson, then blew like a 20-point lead at Lacrosse in the second round, Ramler's last game.

Wondering... do you practice at being an AH or is it a God Given Talent?

My vote is you practice!!!

I was kind of hoping that the JOHNNIES  would face the Muskies in the 1st round. That way I bet there could have been a throwdown pitting their famous sausages against Zip's Polish Pups at Stiftungsfestivity.

So, cheering for my high school alma mater and cheering against UST makes me an asshole?  Big words for some little piece of **** that just pulled his chair up to the adults' table.
