Enjoy the offseason Freebird.  It sure was nice how you weren't around much this season...or was it because Bethel wasn't any good??

WC11:  C'mon son.  Do I have to break it down for you?  The odds of winning the West vs what actually happens are 2 entirely different animals.  You know this and are trying goad TDT into further debate.  But that won't happen here (surely later at some TBD time).  I have 5 squads with the ability to win the West.  The odds are extraordinarily close, because I don't see obvious differences among the elite of the region.  I believe that St. Thomas will beat Monmouth and then beat St. John's while lose to Linfield in the West Region Final.  The toughest game of the bracket is the Central vs UMHB game.  That could go either way, but regardless of who wins I see the 'Cats beating them in Round 2 and prevailing in the West Region (see: caveat below).

Important Caveat: If Linfield comes to Collegeville on December 5th, all bets are off.  The 'Cats always feel the pressure in Cville...

Time for you to go on the record now.  I know for a fact you can't put your allegiances aside and look at this objectively, so TDT is on the edge of his seat waiting for that purple prediction...

Hey since you climb off the bandwagon for the potential Tommies game you can't climb back on for a matchup with respected rival Linfield...there is just no way for that to happen, consider yourself on the outside, pal and never ever come near the radio booth.

Hey...where is Around the West? Where is OAS? Could it be that TDT is the acting mouthpiece for the newlywed? All it would take is some waffles (with powdered sugar?)

I have been thinking that ustDT has been spending way too much time with OAS this season, hence his "opinions".

Thanks for hanging that one on him stanbob+ MAJOR K...yup brand new and accurate name on here...

USTDTD and we all know what the last D stands for, hopefully they will develop a shot for it to cure others who are coming down with the same yellow bellyed disease.

Thanks Smed-it was a fun regular season. Came down to picking the Johnnies last week.
TDT, I expected you to ask an expert before posting your odds-something to discuss in Collegeville this weekend. :)

Congrats, Zip! Never doubted SJU, just thought Ramler might make it closer.

Thanks Repete-I was very worried about that game, in terms of the spread. Do we have like a Hamm's trophy for the winner? :D Or maybe an ice fishing plaque.  :D

Stanbob: It is the odds of winning the West Bracket...not a 2nd round game vs SJU.  There are lots of hurdles and obstacles along the way for all teams in this loaded 8 team dance.

VOJ: Appreciate the thoughts and your supervision of the Bandwagon.  Looking forward to hanging out with you and your Xs and Os man Bryan along with Wooderson at the Tailgate party on Saturday...

Zip; congratulations on the pick'ems.  The best Johnnie won.

On the posy season, are we atarting over at zero points or do our regular season totals carry over?

Great point!  How about I come up to the game Saturday and bring two cases to share and we call it even?  One of Hamm's and one of Cobbernations choosing?

Even though I'm unable to attend, I like it. Cobbernation's a stand-up guy so I'm sure he'll be on board. As long as with each beer you hand out from one of the cases you greet each recipient with, "From Finsleft, the football genius. Go Johnnies!"

We'll be square.

What are the Johnnie's chances of winning these first two games IF the qb's thumb is too bad for him to be effective? That seems to be the main question in picking the games.

To be honest, the chances are not as good, JR does some things well but is still a freshman with 2.5 games of experience in the Johnnies offense.  It would be more up to the offensive line and how the defense plays if the Johnnies were to move on, I would say 75% percent because of the defense being in lockdown mode right now.

Ries has ability and some confidence now...he can make some plays, I would say he made some nice progression between the Augsburg and Carleton games.  They will put him in positions where he will be less likely to fail.

Other than for SJU having home field advantage is there one other team that is a clear favorite?

VOJ - During the Auggie Tech game I heard you reference the Johnnies worked on some plays out of the Wild Cat formation during the bye week.  Any chance that comes out during the playoffs regardless of Boyle or Ries at QB?
The Johnnies usually ad some wrinkles (some good some bad) for the playoffs.  The obvious example is lining #2 up at RB but they've also gone to the casino (double slot) formation & I believe an I-formation in the early 2000's.  If it isn't the Wild Cat what will be the new wrinkle?

Wouldn't have called it that though, would they/he?

All this Hamm's and Sauk Rapids Brewery Upstream Premium Gold talk...majority out of cans or bottles before the red cup?
And who does all the recycling?

Touchdown Tommy

Bring back the Diamond formation.  That was extremely effective last year against Carleton (and a couple other late season opponents in 2008), then the offense used it for like 1 series in the 1st half of the Whitewater game and never again.  It was dynamite.

Dens: Hamm's is only found in cans.  Turdy paks in the Twin Cities and usually just cases in outstate MN.  Maybe our esteemed Mayor will weigh in with his thoughts.  Recycling doesn't really happen at the Johnnie tailgate party.  There are cans, bottles, disposables, garbage, packing supplies, etc. and it really is a free for all once the libations start to flow (hot cider, beer, bloody marys, Kool-Aid, etc).  TDT would be glad to put you in charge if you were to arrive in Collegeville on December 5th.  However, if Red Hot Bennie (now known self-described as Red Hot and Green) shows up she may start the Reduce Reuse Recycle campaign.

But wouldn't one have to win the second round to win the West?  Or mayhaps you think that ust(D) is going down to Monmouth, who you have listed at even longer odds?
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Welcome to the board, and congrats on your career...even if it was at Augsburg ;)

Well thank you... I guess ;D But seriously, I was very happy with my choice to go to Auggie. My final two schools, believe it or not, were Augsburg and Whitewater! I visited Whitewater twice, and met with Coach Berezowitz. Seemed like an incredible program, not to mention I would have a ring right now obviously. I'll never forget when I called to let them know I'd be attending Auggie. They seemed rather surprised! However, I really enjoyed the family feel of the Auggie team, and I wouldn't trade my experiences there for anything.

I wouldn't say the diamond was extremely effective, you only had 7 points with it in 59 minutes before you abandoned it for the wheel route out of the backfield (which worked extremely well).
