First off, to those SJU fans that feels the need to bitch and yell loudly everytime a penalty is called on SJU, grow up.  The refs are doing their job.  They may make a mistake or two, but there is no way they screw up nearly as much as you may think, and there is a good chance that SJU has committed the called infraction.  Perhaps they may have a better vantage point and understanding of the rules than you do...just maybe  ::)

Hey -- good point. You could replace SJU with any team's name and there would be a lot of fans that would fit the description.

I agree with Pat. I even heard a frustrated "c'mon ref, get in the game"  from a frustrated Lakeland fan Saturday after a DELAY OF GAME call with the play clock clearly at zero. They never did snap the ball. And neither the bench or QB argued on the basis of resetting the clock or anything like that.

And as someone who knows that UWW has never committed a real penalty in the history of the program, I've had to bite my tongue more than once!  :D

This is classic Stages of Grief on behalf of our friends at St. Johns:

   *  Denial (this isn't happening to me!)
   * Anger (why is this happening to me?)
   * Bargaining (I promise I'll be a better person if...)
   * Depression (I don't care anymore)
   * Acceptance (I'm ready for whatever comes - even a Tommie Victory)

We are here for you and fully support you during your moment of need.

Well said PurpleReign;  Just making my way back to the board now, still dealing with a lite case of depression but moving on to acceptance.  Wait, I'm a Johnnie rube, I don't think "acceptance" is in our lexicon.

I echo Johnnie Red's comments on another successful season of Stiftungsfestivities and all the tailgaters who make Johnnie Football Saturdays a tradition unrivaled.

Crummy day for the Johnnies however that's usually what it takes(save for the Warhawks) to go down to defeat.  Real simple, if the Johnnies decide to hang onto the football it's a different game.

Congratulations to the Coehawks for securing victory.

Like others on this board I have mixed emotions about supporting the Tommies, a few years ago when SJU and CC were in the playoffs on opposite sides of the west bracket I sent an email to Terry Horan wishing him well and urging an MIAC West Region Final re-match at Clemens next Saturday, of course that did not happen.

I love how most Tommies fans come in here now, full of confidence and a bragging about their playoff success and opportunities that lie ahead like many of our comrades from Bethel used to do...maybe the best thing that can happen is for you keep winning, take the West and go to Whitewater and suffer a similiar fate as Bethel did on their trip to Alliance two years ago. that might temper the cockiness I see.

I like to see the MIAC do well, I wish GAC had won the NCAA BBall tourney title a few years ago, I know Mark Hanson their head coach well and he does a nice job in St. Peter, the basketball coaches seem to be a tighter fraternity and the rivalries are intense but with a little less hate involved.

That all said I think if Brad Boyle can play, with that Kohawk D, they have a chance to win, but they need to be healthy on the offensive side of the ball, because I don't see 6 TO's coming their way again with two convereted into TD's immediately.

First off, I don't feel that there are too many UST posters coming here and talking about the start of their climb to dominance.  A couple maybe, but I haven't really noticed many. If anything, I have seen just as many, if not more, Johnnie posters coming in and talking about Coe completely overlooking Coe and talking about SJU's run, or coming here after the loss to make themselves feel better.

In regards to the cheering on UST:  I don't really care what a Johnnie fan does after they lose.  Not a single Johnnie fan I know would root for UST in the playoffs.  I'm not sure if I would have rooted for STO to win if they reached the playoffs, honestly, it wouldn't matter what they did afterwards as long as we beat them.  And if we lost to them but did better overall, it would only matter that we did better overall.

Congrats to the MIAC seniors and especially the SJU seniors.  It's gonna take a while for the pit in your stomach to go away.  I know most people don't think like me (as evident by my record pace of -K), but I have always believed it is better to go out with a smile on your face after your last game, regardless of a win or loss.  If you played the right way you have nothing to be down about.

Even though SJU was upset on Saturday, I believe the MIAC has proven to be a very tough conference once again in D-3.  Congrats to UST on a nice win on the road vs. an undefeated Monmouth squad.  Not every conference gets 2 teams into the playoffs almost every season that are expected to have a deep playoff run.

As for the Johnnie game I was completely confident about them beating Coe, but the ball is not round it takes funny bounces.  It's incredible how the same defensive player had 2 returns for TD's.  Correct me if I am wrong but I am sure the momentum had quite the swing on saturday.

I'm trying to hold my tongue Bench, my thinking is, after the few whiners realize the season is over for them they'll just crawl back into their little johnnie hole & sleep for the winter?

Good point, we also live in the age of the internet and conspiracy theories, and some fans just can't accept defeat, or the fact their favorite team was beaten by a superior opponent. Even with advances in technology, and multiple camera angles utilized by instant replay, there will always be close calls in all sports. Referee calls will always be an inexact science, and people must accept that fact. Let's instead be thankful D3 has the football advantage of a playoff system, where the national champion will be actually settled on the field, something that rarely happens with D1.

Or discuss hockey! ;)

I have never been a fan of Wade Belak, but this violation of Man Law moves him to the top of my Kick in the Shins and Run list!! Check out his "stick work" at about the 20 second mark in this clip. It is brutal!

Please Winter, what is it you are holding your tongue about? You make the playoffs for the first time in what 10 years and you win a game. Please enlighten us about the vast insights you have on Tommy playoff experiences and success. Let's just say when you have a couple playoff appearances under your belt and win a couple of games maybe then you will have something to say that means something. My guess is you will not be far behind climbing into that winter hole as well.  At least the Johnnies need more than one finger to count their playoff success in the last decade.

Enlighten on :o
