Yea, one question. What is the Tommies record at The CatDome?

Its 0-0. What is SJU's record @ UWW? and how does that compare to UST's 1-0 record at UWW?   :)

I guess we'll all see on Saturday if UST is ready to join SJU (2000,2001,2002,2003) and Bethel (2007) as a MIAC representative who claims the West Region crown and moves on to the Final Four of D3 Football.  :)
yeah... here's hoping to see it happen. Should be a good test for the young (3 seniors start) Tommies. If the D continues its strong play and they keep the TOs low (only 1 on Sat), UST should have a solid shot at it.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

If anyone ever questioned why a team with a big lead should continue to score, have them ask South Dakota State after yesterday's FCS playoff game with the University of Montana.  The Rabbits go into half with a 34-14 lead, extend the lead to 41-14 by blocking a punt and covering for a TD 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter....game over right?

Not so fast as Lee Corso would say.  From the boxscore the anatomy of a huge comeback......it was absolutely unbelievable.  The Griz score the last 40 points in a little less than a quarter and a half.  A 21 point deficit going into the 4th, turned into a 13 point win.

And this was the same team the golden rodents couldn't score a offensive TD on?

That would be the same one.....for anyone that doubts the need to recruit your home state and even look at some lower division kids; Montana starts 9 or 10 in-state kids on offense with 3 (star RB, TE and C) of them coming from the 8-man ranks.  They start 15/16 total Montana kids depending on the week and opponent.

In conversation with some of the staff on Friday night I asked about what the Gopher offense was able to accomplish against SDSU, they said they were able to get nothing out of the film due to the lack of any credible offensive threat or effort on the part of the Brewster's crew

Time to bust up the Tommies...

With coach Caruso tearing up Division III and the surprising Tommies setting aim on MIAC dominance, it may be time to start the "Glenn Caruso for Gopher coach" chant.

You know someone's going to say it, you just heard it here first.

It could happen, really.

I understand Caruso's buyout clause will be a problem.  However, Charlies Weis will soon be available, and he can certainly handle the Gophers' problems on offense. ;)

If I was Notre Dame/Minnesota I'd at least ask him to interview. Let's see if he can resist temptation like Gags.

Does St Thomas have a stud running back? or is the QB more of a runner?

I have a few more questions....but I will have to check those with my secret informant in the MIAC.

UST has a stud O-Line and very patient runningback with good vision. (Wartman) He's not prototypical, more of an upright runner/slasher, but pretty capable of hitting a second gear and making some moves when he gets to that second level. Their backup is also pretty good, and lower to the ground (Tobin). The running quarterback is their second stringer who is a very fast option qb (Tracy). He plays situationally. He's a little banged up but their starter Greg Morse is more of a pocket passer.

Gig Harbor Cat

Right on, another option QB--Paint a target on him cause he is in for a rough day at the Catdome.  2 7 turnover playoff games in a row for the Cat D.

Bring it--we are ready

Well I hope for your sake 3-6 Pacific Lutheran didn't have an option QB when they hung 44 points on your Catdome D.

Bench,

The PLU/ Linfield game is a lot like the SJU/UST game, records don't matter. Just remember the 2003 SJU/UST game, the Tommies had a better shot at beating the Johnnies than Mount Union did that year.

Is UST going to charter a plane or two for the fans to enjoy McMinnville? An enjoyable day, leave early (6:00AM and return about midnight) tailgate with Gig Harbor Cat and his bunch, good eats!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Oh these are things I know. But I'm not used to trash-talking this late into the football season...so I have to open a vein somewhere.

Unfortunately for me, UND's School of Law hasn't gotten the memo about scheduling finals during the DIII playoffs.

It's a freaking final - it's not like you're talking about the bar exam.  It's also not like the Toms have been there before or that you'll see it again in your lifetime. ;D

You are really going to need to bring your "A" game if you (or any of the UST other 3 semi-regulars) can hold a candle to the Linfield bunch in trash-talk  ;)

BTW- what's the status of the UND nickname? Should I rush out to buy a Flicker-tail jersey?

Heed the word of the tmerton, in 2003 RedHotBennie blinked and didn't board the big bird to Salem, neither did Carbo.  It's been a few years and with the Lord willing, we'll be making that trip in 2010.
