Interesting Triple Take. D3 crew all picking the purple battle as the closest region final, but all picking Linfield to win...should be interesting.

Anyone have score predictions?

My hope: UST 31 Linfield 28 (somehow my loyalty to the MIAC outweighs my distaste for UST  :-\)

My prediction: UST 24 Linfield 38

Good luck to both teams and may everyone stay healthy!

I don't know anything about Linfield, but I have this feeling that UST is playing good enough to beat any team.

UST 30 Linfield 20

Whatever the result you can anticipate Glenn Caruso will not play it close to the cuff.

Expect to see quick snaps out of the "sprint huddle", lots of fly sweep just like you saw last night in Eugene, plenty of play action and tons of passes way down field to stave off short fields for his defense.

Trickery, misdirection, hurry up offense.... oh yeah, I'd imagine he'll throw in a few well-timed runs as well.

The catdome is an extremely difficult place to win.  Their fans will be all over the place, in the stands, on the fence and with UST fans.  They will yell, cheer and yell more at fans and players.  It was quite an experience.  The only way UST can win is if they score early and often.  You take the crowd out of the game then you might have a chance.  Linfield doesn't usually give up many 2nd half points, they make great halftime adjustments.

I'm going to go with:  Linfield - 104 (they miss an extra point)
                             St. Thomas - 3

Not that it matters and it doesn't necessarily mean they don't make great halftime adjustments but so far on the season Linfield had given up 124 points in the first half and 132 points in the second half.

Wow...not sure that the Linfield D can stand up to that prediction...after all I am sure they would put in the reserves once they got up by 70 unless they went to the Pete Carroll/Jim Harbaugh school of football etiquette...

Linfield 31  UST W/TDT suggesting plays to Caruso 26

CAT BAT 22

Badgerwarhawk:

True... but only 7 so far in the 2nd half in the playoffs!

St. Thomas may be inexperienced and young but perhaps its best player, Ben Wartman, has been to the promised land, and won a national championship in baseball.  Since he gets about 40% of UST's offensive plays its not like, at least at one position, nerves are jitters should be a factor.  Plus he does not fumble very often (ever?).  Linfield's chances of getting turnovers will be limited.  Bottom line, if UST "can pound the rock" (oh Brewster, haha) they will win the game.  Defense tightens late for a UST victory.

UST         7  14   0   7  7  35
Linfield    0  14  14  0  0  28

How many of those second half points were scored against Linfield's second and third string players?  Linfield, unlike PLU, likes to get their young pups some experience in real game-time situations.

After the game, the Tommies head to Alf's but are sadly disappointed by the quality of the caged girls and instead hop a plane back to the sweet, sweet scenery of Cretin and Summit.
