I didn't want to bring this up because overall the 'Cat Fans were top notched in my opinion but, since you DID bring up the 'Cat fans in front of the Visitors Stands you dtated, "don't give visitor fans/players any crap is an outright lie or your looking thru rose colored glasses! I was embarassed for our "Ladies" in the stands that had to listen to the foul mouthed, crude & over the top 'Cat fans there.

This was the only dissapointing moment besides the loss on a great day of Football hosted by an overall proud & 1st class organization.

I don't get TOMMY FANS

We invited them to join us at the Deluxe  Pregame   NO SHOW

We invited them to join us at our Prime time Tailgate  NO SHOW
They instead decided to tailgate on the north side of the Catdome

Anyone that has ever been to the Catdome knows that the following rules apply.  Season ticket holders sit under cover.
Visiting team fans usually sit across in the stands on the fifty.  Students in the south endzone  (South Forty style)
The rest of the field is lined with the hard core Cat fans sometimes 4 deep.  On the visiting side the boys move up and down the field as the game action goes on--usuall between the 30's only.  When we go in front of the visiting stands we dont give the visitiors any crap,  Just go on our way.

This held true yesterday but I ( as a veteran hardcore fan) noticed some things that I just dont get about the Tommies ??

The Tommy team requested heaters for their sidelines ??  We had no heaters on the Cat side-- Are the Tommies really from Minnesota--  Cmon now  Man up a little !!

The tommie fans must have been very cold as well because throughout the whole game they were bouncing their feet off of the metal stands just to keep warm (we didnt supply heaters for the stands) They couldn't have been doing it as some kind of cheer, cause it would have given you a frickin headache in no time at all.

About half way through the second quarter the crew was moving from south to north when these 3 tommie girls ( very short) munchkin type came down and started walking with our crowd screaming
Tommmieehh,,Tommmieehh.  One was right next to me and she stopped to catch her breath and she asked me,  well arent you going to cheer.  I just asked her-- do I look like a frickin cheerleader and moved on.  They started back up Tommmioiehh,  Tommmieeehh.  Three trips later I had to ask.  I asked her which player number was her player boyfriend Mr Tommmieeh.  She said they all were Tommmieehh's  at this point I figured she was dating the whole Tommy team and moved on ( with a smile)  Back in the day we had names for girls that dated the whole team, but thats another story all together.

Next to join the party was a MILD ( mom I'd like to drop kick).  She joined in with her pom pom's screaming with the munchkins, front row right in the middle of the Cat crew.  I noticed that my buddies that work at the steel plant were quite impressed with Mrs MILD, we just moved on ( with a smile) She stayed with us for the duration pom pom's and munchkins in tow.  I think she kinda liked the steel workers, cause she was up on em pretty good.  I can only imagine what my son would have done if he would have come off of the field after a defensive stop with the fellahs and seen Mrs GHC bouncing around with pom poms yelling go Cats go.  Holy Crap Batman-- It would have been baddddddddddddd !!!

All in all it was another great Catdome experience--- No Harm done,  everyone had a great time in their own way.
BUT

I think I am starting to understand the comments from the SJU boys about the Tommieeesshh

Bottom line  I don't get TOMMY fans!!

BAM--Thats all I got

No proof whatsoever but sounds like it was their first game and can hide in a large crowd.

All I heard was Tommmmeeeehhh

Didn't hear any F bombs--  If I had of I would have been right in their grill big time--rest assured.  We dont tolorate that.  Plus there were security guys inside the fence so I do know they would have handled it if heard.

Peace Out  GHC

GHC, the only thing you need to know about Tommie fans:  At some point, each and every one of them made the conscious decision to support St. Thomas over St. John's.  Lower your expectations accordingly.

And in Minnesota, we have a name for young ladies who "date the whole team".  Coincidentally, it's "Tommies".

St. Thomas fans, you can take solace in the cold, dry weather--perfect ice-making conditions.  It's ice fishing season now, fellas.

And to those of you who are offended by coarse language or "foul mouthed, crude" fans, you might want to steer clear of Perkins Stadium this Saturday.

(Because I hear sju56321 might be there.)

As someone who has stood on the visitors sideline at Linfield, I know what he's talking about. They weren't people who are on the message boards here but there were people fitting this description.

I would hope that there were fans like this at the game.  Roudy, energized, perhaps politically incorrect fans are one of the many things that make college athletics more enjoyable than pro.  I'd take 5 drunk, loud, obnoxious college kids over any 5 proper gents courtside for a lakers game or just out of the office at a yanks game any day of the week; and an infinite amount more times on saturday.

+ T gun....

The Saints are a pro team that remains undefeated as of today not roaming the LINFIELD sidelines.

If CALLU & UMHB backers agree then I'm embarrassed - for the offenders.

Congratulations to the Tommie players - they made the most of their opportunity.  I look forward to a great MIAC season again next year and another championship heading north to Collegeville.

In other news, pre-season fitness training has begun in the AFL.  Pre-season scrimmages start in Feb so it's two months before some sort of football starts up again.  Man, I hope I get an Xbox or PS3 for Christmas.

I did see 2 guys out on a small lake near my house today. I was too afraid to even stop and ask questions- thinking someone would be going through shortly.

This is an early freeze-over lake and the Sunfish & Crappies go crazy this time of year.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

As if two less ust(D) fans would be bad.  Any chance one was usTDT?

TDT?  Ha, no chance.  Much more likely it was me or Duffman.

The bay behind my house was totally frozen this morning.  I hope to get out by mid-week.

WTH is going on with the Vikes?

BTW, yahoo sends me the temps in Collegeville and MSP on a daily basis.  Up until this past week there has only been a difference of about 10 degrees between them and local temps.  Lately, though, the difference is up to 30 to 35 degrees.

We're having 9 Johnnies out here for Christmas and New Years (2 or 3 football players; the rest do other stuff); they arrive late on Christmas Day and stay through around the 4th.  I don't think any of them have been out here before, and I suspect they're expecting surf boards, palm trees and bathing suits.  :o  They will quickly learn that there is a difference between Northern and Southern California.  Still, we'll do our best to show them how hard life is out here. 8)

EDIT: Just so you know, usTDT is not one of them.  His mom's cute coat would keep him warm, no doubt, but he'd no longer pass for a high school college student.  BTW, anyone besides Pat know when Pat's letting him back on?

I went over to the sideline on the Tommies side of the field to check out their team. I talked to a guy who was with the team who was doing camera and video. He was a very nice young dude. I knew that the Tommies were a class program after talking to that young man. He was very nice.

Then I took a look at the STU O-Line....my goodness they were the biggest and most physical line I had ever seen. They looked even better than UMHB. Plus I had read a story about their center who was very good. He is a Star War Freak. So am I but I like Lord of the Rings better.

Anyway....I thought the whole UST Team was Sharp. I didn't get to see or hear the Munchkins like GHC. But I'm sure they were great too!

Anyway....I would appreciate it if someone could tell me why we don't have a littel dump pass to 28, 30 or 2...in case of a blitz. Over the middle.
