Great games, both the Stagg and the Serra/Marin Catholic tilt.  Too bad about the starting QB, but the Soph backup really did himself proud.

BDB - Sorry to hear about the loss of your father-in-law.

Sounds like the Stagg was one hell of game today.  Nice to bring the title back to the West.
Go Johnnies!!!

Great game today.  UWW played well and won it like champions.  It's good to see another team consistently rising to the challenge of MUC.

Although, if there is one thing more depressing that a single program dominating DIII, it's two programs dominating DIII.  With a 'one against the rest' scenario, at least the rest get a go.

I feel bad for all of you guys who got shut out from watching the game yesterday due to the switch.  Luckily for me, as a law student I Get VPN which allows me to watch ESPN360 for free from anywhere (other than TCF Bank its probably the only positive thing about the experience).  What a great game!  In the first half Whitewater was totally dominant - we were looking at blow out city.  But, the Mount made a strong showing in the second half.

Congrats to the Warhawks!  Hopefully, though, this was the last Mt.-WW purple bowl for awhile...

hmmmmmmmm, don't get that one either, but thanks for the tip Duffman.

No Gliadon( 49 and 52 yard field goal with a bad knee and countless punting yardage) and no Wimmer( more tackles and starts over 4 years than concievable) on the D3 All-American team is a bit suspicious.

Looking forward to beating the Tommies again in 2010.

Johnnie Red

Please keep Bill Johnson, 61 and a former Johnnie football player, in your prayers. He is the father-in-law of Ryan Keating, the Johnnie qb on the 2003 national championship team.

Fleet Capt. Bill Johnson suffered fractured vertebrae, broken ribs and burned lungs from inhaling smoke after his McDonnell Douglas MD-11 crashed on takeoff at Shanghai's Pudong International Airport on November 28. He was the only U.S. survivor in the crash, which killed three Americans and injured three other crew members from Indonesia, Belgium and Zimbabwe.

His family has launched a website to help defray their travel and medical costs: wgjbenefit.bbnow.org. Hopefully D3 fans can help out the Johnson family.

Bill helped create the Gagliardi Trophy back in 1993 and serves on the national selection committee for the award. Bill is expected to be home for Christmas this week. It is an honor to have him as a friend.

Will keep him in my prayers.
One other thing, looking towards next year, (long way away) with the win (and it was a very good game) maybe the "West" playoff champ will not face UWW in the quarter or semi-final game, maybe a Stagg Bowl game between UWW and the "West" champ-get ready SJU, Linfield, Central.

What's that you say, Dusty?  You say that NWH managed to forget the one comparison that actually compares the two teams directly?  Now that is a surprise.  I would have never picked a Tommie to forget that.

Fixed it.

In it's ever expanding effort to save money, the NCAA today announced that it is abolishing the Division 3 playoffs.  Starting in 2010 Mount Union and UWW play each other the Saturday after Thanksgiving to annoint the D3 champion.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Please do NOT give them any ideas! ;)

It's a shame BE broke his leg in that first year's training camp.  The Vikes could sure use a bit of Johnnie Magic right about now.

EDIT:  Sigh... Even if the Vikes pull this out after going down 12-7, it's not looking good.  Philly?  ARI?  Who will come back to snatch victory in the post season?

EDIT II: I'm stuck at work 'watching' the game on nfl.com's Game Center.  What's the issue here?  Amazing lack of execution (hence the line suddenly giving up sacks like they are candy at a Fourth of July parade and AP's utter lack of run) or play calling that shows the imagination of potato?  I'm recording the game at home, but why would I want to spend my evening with this piece of garbage?  Lame.  Childress definitely sucks again.

EDIT III:  YEAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaarg!  I suffer alone, but suffer I do.  Waterboarding?  Bah!  If terrorists were Vikings fans you would just have to put this crap in front of them and they would cave faster than Tommie Coed on dollar night.

EDIT IV:  Help me out here... is Favre missing everything that moves or can no one catch what he's throwing them?  WTF is going on?

EDIT V:  OK.  I'm calling conspiracy a la the plot of Major League.  I reckon Ziggy wants to move the team so he devised this super dagger to plunge straight into the hearts of Vikings fans.  Give them a great team and give them hope... And then toss it all down the s*****r so in a fit of rage they refuse to support a new stadium initiative.  Little things, like blowing a timeout on a stupid challenge and therefore making it all but impossible to manage the clock for two scores, are just what you would expect from someone engineering just such a plot.

EDIT VI:  Little Anthony and The Imperials are set to make a comeback with a new Vikings theme song - Tears on my Pillow.  Another friggin' touchdown.  I would be in jail if I spanked my kids like the Panthers are spanking the Vikings.

EDIT VII:  I don't have anything to say.  What can be said?  How long until Spring Training?

EDIT VIII:  The loss we had to have?  It's like saying I didn't realized I loved my wife until she slept with half the men in the neighborhood.
