If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

This beer discussion sounds like three 16 year olds try to prove who's bulge is bigger.  We get it.  You guys like good beers.  Great.  I will take any of the above mentioned as long as they are cold  :)

Best wishes and Happy New Year to all!!!!!!

Happy New Year! Been down at 26th and Cal bailing ustdt out of jail-he has made wonderful new friends from the south side.

I would have let him stay until he had a long relationship and courtship with Bubba, followed by a beautiful wedding officiated by Cleatus the 6 toothed preacher who found God while in prison, followed by the consumation of the vows with some "Mad Love Behind the Walls"

Happy New Year

Sumander, I was going to pick up a sixer of Liftbridge Crosscut for you, but I don't plan on visiting DL anytime soon...or ever again  ;)

The local Chamber of Commerce and taverns will be sorry to hear about this development. I guess I will have to visit the metro area to procure my own sixer.

Frebird, once again so far off the mark it's scary! I would term it more an offering of opinions on beers that have been sampled. In fact, my original response to Tmert was answering a question he had posed. No need for the Johnnie brethren to posture with each other about the various beers they have drank. Just trying to broaden our own horizons!

Happy New Year to all!

Sumander, please refrain from placing freebird amongst the Johnnie brethren.

Wasn't, I was refering to Duff and Tmert as Johnnie brethren.

Happy New Year everyone!!! ;D

Bennie,

Too bad about your Ducks. I watched the game with a Ducks fan. He was going on & on about the number of uniform combinations the Ducks have, and that the combination they wore yesterday were the best combo.....

I guess they chose their "best looking" uniforms vs. their "luckiest" uniforms  :-[

Still, far and away a better showing than the Golden Rodents
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Any thoughts about the Leach v. James controversy at Texas Tech?

Any thoughts about the Leach v. James controversy at Texas Tech?

I posted on it a couple of days ago.  It will settle eventually, but I predict it will be an expensive decision for TTech.  I've never liked James, I'm no fan of Leach, and I question whether the story from either side is true.  But TT jumped on this way too quickly with the suspension and then the termination.  They appear to have been looking for an excuse to get rid of someone who irritated them, and actions like that almost never work out well for the institution.  I recommend you get some popcorn (marketing opportunity here for Orville Redenbacher!) and settle in for some interesting twists, turns and stories.  The biggest losers here will be the TT football program and the James kid.  Leach will be fine.

I keep wondering why TT signed him to the new contract in the first place.  It seems like he had other offers on the table last year which is why they had to give him more money to stay there.  Why didn't know just let him walk away?

Also I just read an article that suggests Craig James should be fired.  I truly hope that doesn't happen.  He is one of the nicest commentators espn has.

Hey at least no one threw any punches! ;) I'm not positive, but when they were interviewing Jim Tressel after the game, I could have sworn I saw Austin Murphy behind him. I kept thinking I know that guy from somewhere and then it hit me. It was a nice little "Johnnie fans are everywhere" moment! ;D

he may be nice but its starting to sound like he was using (abusing?) his position at ESPN to try to advnace his kid's role in the offense. Plus now there are allegations that, because of James Sr,  ESPN has done a very unprofessional and one-sided job reporting the story. Not saying its true or not, but there also were rumors of James Sr leaving ESPN to seek political office in 2010, which only adds to the stench of possible impropriety on his (and possibly ESPN's) part. Baically, by the time the dust settles everyone involved- James, the son, the teammates, TTech and Leach- will all be tarnished by it, but Leach will bounce back and land a job somewhere.
