Well I just managed to read an account of the final quarter (damn International Date Line) and I find that my rant against bp is factually incorrect in almost every particular.  Oops.

Cheeseheads shoulda never let go of Fav-ray.  They would be playing NO next weekend and we would be contemplating the wonderous skills of TJ.

OZ it went both ways...if Brett had just said I am coming back instead of yanking everyones chain...he would still be where he belongs.  Its not all on the Packers management.

We will see if he duplicates his last appearance in an NFC title game, brass ring in the grasp and then he does something stupid and its gone

With the excitement of the Vikings Big Win yesterday, I'm wondering if the Johnnie faithful used that to bury the Loss to the Tommies in BB on Saturday?

Probably!

It was in "not football" so they probably didnt notice it  :)  (I looked at the MIAC hockey standings and was shocked to see who is in last place. Wow oh wow oh wow)

Yea, you're probably right. Most of their posts have to do with Drinking, Hockey, Wrestling, Beer, Eating, and Drinking. Oh did I mention Beer?

No thanks. You guys can have Favre... Can't pin the loss to the Cardinals on Rodgers...

When Brett Favre finally decides to retire - again - you will then be contemplating TJ, or whomever???, to replace him, or drafting another QB. You'll be facing the same situation you had at QB before Favre rode in on his white horse this season... (We'll see if the Favre Packer fans have come to know and love during the last five years or so in December-on makes his presence known in NO next week...)

Meanwhile, the Pack is set at QB, with Rodgers, who will build on this year and continue putting up impressive numbers like he had this year...

retagent

Once you realize that, for the most part, everyone does what is in their self-interest, you can better understand the Favre/Packer situation. The Packers were faced with a dilemma of losing their future (Rodgers) or letting Favre go. They wisely chose to let Favre go. You could arguably say that they would have been better off with Favre for a year or two more, but it looks as though Rodgers will be a premier QB for years to come.

Favre, by waiting to make a decision at the last possible moment had to go to the Jets for a year, before going to a situation that was suited to him in a big way - the Vikings. With all their talent, the Vikes needed a QB of his caliber. It has been a worthwhile marriage of convenience. Going forward though, the Vikes still have a long range problem facing them at that position. Another year of Favre is about all they can hope for. Then what?

Et tu, VOJ?  A Farve hater?  Cripes, it's not like he's a Tommie.

Favre's playing his heart out.  As a guy that is pretty much his age, I like the fact that he's grabbed the chance to be 23 one last time and he's putting everytging into it.  It's a great thing.  And if he retirement kabuki at the end of the season, then I can tolerate that as well.  He made this team a fantastic thing this year.

You know who deserves the hate?  Chilli.  That goofball is already convincing himself that TJ has absorbed all of #4's wisdom (the rarely spotted football-osmosis principle).  He will be arguing that TJ can take us forward like Rogers will do for GB.  That's the problem.  Hate the Chilli.

OzJohnnie

Thinking further about the retirement game, I find it hard to do this, but I must compliment GB.  They put themselves in a position to call Favre's hand.  The fact that the Vikings have uterly failed to cultivate the QB position over the last four years is not Farve's fault.  The Vikings, even with the ebility to pick their own cards, keep playing with a 6 & 3, off-suit.  Farve just has to show up and keep milk from coming out his nose when he laughs and he'll dominate the negotiations.  No pre-season?  Ok.  Green M&.'S turn 34 degrees counter clockwise? Yes, sir.

Chilli calls player moves like he calls plays: if Favre's doing all the thinking then the Vikings do ok.  And that is the friggin' joke.

Yea, taking the #5 team to over-time and loosing by one point is pretty bad. Actually, that was a good game for SJU-they are just waiting for the playoffs and the automatic berth.

Oz - I'm just glad VOJ likes the Johnnies.  Though I guess professionally he kinda has to. ;D

OZ let me make this plainly simple for you...I hate all things purple...from Barney and his twin USTTDT to Favre to Chilly.

So for 16 years you blindly cheer for a guy to lead you to the promised land and defend those who take shots at the interceptions, the love-fest from John Madden, you basically live and die with the guy...then his prima donna asshole side comes out and guess what he wants to stick it to the Packers, well mission accomplished he did that, the rest of this is icing for him, trust me if the Vikings lose on Sunday, he may care a little but deep down he will think...I came back and kicked ass played like I should have played all along instead of being a reckless gunslinger, we went farther than GB and I have two wins over them, this is just a minor setback, I stuck it to Ted Thompson hahahahahaha.

You guys would have the same feelings if Fran Tarkenton had decided, gosh I could play one more year and although the Vikes don't want me, GB has offered me a contract...and he leads the Pack to big wins against Minnesota and a playoff run, or more to the point of the sports climate in Minnesota, let's say that Joe Mauer can't work a deal with the Twins and the team that wins the bidding war is one of the following...the Yankees(hated by most if not all Twins fans), the Red Sox, (a big money team that you can learn to hate), or the WHITE SOX, so not only is he not in the Twins lineup but you play against him 19 times a year and for your biggest division rival, Twins fans would be pissed at management for not getting a deal done and at Mauer for going to the enemy.  Don't say oh that's business...its just baseball, nobody plays for the same team forever, etc.

Brett Favre didn't want to stick it to the packers until they gave him a reason to.  Childress did what the packers were unwilling to do: wait indefinitely for #4.  And it has paid off big time.  The most TDs and fewest interceptions of any QB in the league.

That said, the Vikings were better than the Packers before Favre as they won the division with Frerotte and Tjack.  Rodgers is also clearly a very good qb, but it's hard to say if he would have been able to do that for any other team.
I honestly don't think Favre would have been booed in the Metrodome if the roles had been reversed.   Kevin Garnett, Randy Moss, David Ortiz and Torii Hunter are all given standing ovations, even though they had less success than Favre did.

Were any of those guys the life blood of a franchise?  Maybe KG, but the Wolves are irrelevant right now so it really does not matter.  Took you to a title?  Stayed in your colors for 16 years?  NO, NO, and NO...your lack of knowledge about sports  and inability to make a comparable argument is on display again AO, keep up the good work.

You really think that TJack would have led the Vikings to two wins over the Packers this year?  He did such a good job last year...opening game loss and if not for Mason Crosby choking...again, it would have been 0-2...as Jim Calhoun says, get your facts right and then come talk to me otherwise let me give you some advice...just shut up, shut up.

While I certainly couldn't argue that Favre hasn't had a great season he didn't throw the most touchdowns and fewest interceptions "of any QB" in the league.  Favre threw 33 touchdowns during the regular season.  Drew Brees threw 34.  Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers also threw 33 touchdowns so Favre actually tied for second.  As far as interceptions go once again he was tied with Aaron Rodgers with a league low 7.
