Maybe God took out that statue because he thought the original was just plain ugly and more than a bit ostentatious.  The original looked like something carved out of butter at the Minnesota State Fair.

On another note....has anyone had luck buying Twins tickets on the street before games?  I want to take my 2 girls tomorrow but don't want to pay what is being asked on Ticketking or Stubhub.  Where is the best place to find tix and how much over face am I going to be paying?
Thanks

Just purchased tickets to Nebraska v. Texas in Lincoln this fall! Should be an interesting final Big 12 meeting between the two.

On a side note, which is more likely to happen first:

Nebraska winning a Big 10 title or UST defeating SJU?

Talent wise, I'd tend to think the latter is much more likely, especially since it could actually happen next year, unlike the former. However, the Johnnies have some serious mojo going over their Catholic brethren in St. Paul.

Something makes me think of Grantland Rice today ...

For when the One Great Scorer comes
To mark against your name,
He writes not that you won or lost
But how you played the Game.

BTW, where's Summander? 8-)

Tmert, just returned from a golfing holiday. Our group was fortunate enough to be drawn in the lottery last Thursday to play the Old Course at St. Andrews!!! What an experience.

7 straight days of golf was an awful lot though! Beer sucked, scotch was great!  ;)
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Sum -- Congrats! That's been on my list for decades and the prospects grow smaller by the year.

[footy monologue]
The Hawks made it five in a row with a convincing win against Adelaide this afternoon.  The Hawks closed out winners, 124 - 77, and ran over the Crows in the first and last quarters.  Some Hawks came up really big with crafted performances, particularly Luke Hodge and Cyril Rioli.  Some highlights for those interested.

Next week we take on the dirty, sniping, buck-toothed, snot eaters of Essendon (Kubiak's buddy's team).  Win that, and we are firmly in the playoff picture.  A pretty good result from an absolute horror start to the season.

OZ,

my buddy just read that and would like to reply with:

Bloody Hell, Fair Dinkum What are you on about?

Also something about the Hawks prancing around in their calf **** colored socks.

First I laughed, and then I searched for this video of Matt Lloyd's cheap shot on Brad Sewell that broke Sewell's jaw and ended his season.  Or, as the YouTube poster put it:

Hawthorn's Brad Sewell lined up & taken out by a serial sniper. Goodbye Lloydy. Have an operation in retirement to remove your shorts from out of your arse.

(btw, my YouTube search was "Matt Lloyd snipe" and, needless to say, the Sewell incident was not the first hit back from the search engine...)

I think you just stirred up a hornets nest,  I happened to mention that you called Matt Lloyd a cheap shot artist to my aussie buddy. He watched the video and says that it was a fair bump... he's wound a little tight now haha. ;)

Ha.  From a safely anonymous bunker somewhere in the greater Melbourne area I'm happy to lob footy grenades.  If your buddy asks, my name is Bob Smith and I live in Williamstown.  Yeah, that's it.  Bob Smith of Williamstown.

The Essendon Bombers crashed to the earth as the surging Hawks made it six wins in a row.  We (and you here) enjoy a bye week and then we take on the Western Bulldogs.  Time to climb into the top four in the standings and get the playoff seeding advantage.

Meanwhile, OZ, over in SA the socceroos continue to collect red cards.  Must be all those ARF players they recruited.  At least they get to wear decent uniforms. 8-)

watching soccer is bad enough without that annoying buzzing sound the whole game. I had to leave two bars already today to get away from it. Guess I'll try some more and hope for a baseball game.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Flash, are you sure the buzzing is coming from the soccer? ;)
