Wow...getting called out while living 1200 miles from SJU.  I would love to be there, but will be lucky to make it to one home game.  My best chance will be week one against NW.  My wife has a brother getting married in Sioux Falls on Friday night and I am trying to convince her that I could run over from SFalls on Saturday instead of gift opening and family crap.  It is his 2nd wedding and as John used to say, "I'll be there for the next one."

May also try Homecoming as I will miss the Montana Grizzly Homecoming while on a business trip back east the week before.

I installed RealPlayer on the Mac last night in anticipation of the season.

Just having to type that makes me feel like that kid that asked Jenny Raucher to the ninth grade dance only to have her point out that his fly was undone.  I bet the rings of bitter laughter still haunt that poor loser's memories.  I wonder what that sucker is doing now.

I, actually and unfortunately, will miss the broadcasts of the games two through five this year.  The family and I are taking advantage of Australia's strong economy and the Greek anchor dragging the Euro down to have a Griswaldian European Vacation.  We leave the day before the UWEC game and I'm not back on deck for the sweet, dulcet tones of VOJ until the October 10th clash with Bethel.  Yes, I miss Tommie week (although I'll have to try connecting here in a couple French Internet cafe's full of sweaty backpackers with their nappy dreadlocks).  So, I'll see you all there to hopefully continue the sweet Johnnie season through the rest of the year.

it could be worse, the wedding itself could be on Saturday during the game as is the case for me and my irresponsibly scheduling friends on 5 saturdays this fall including the Northwestern-Johnnie tilt.

Is that fear I smell?  I think it is.  Proof is demanded.  Show us a link to an online wedding registry.

BDB and samwill47sju, it is still up in the air at this point as to whether I will make it to Eau Claire on September 11. I am doing a marriage ceremony on Friday, September 10 in St. Paul for a fellow Chaska Cubs board member and he and his new bride are having a reception the evening of Sept. 11 west of Chaska at a local golf course that I am invited to. Might be tough to pass that up. This is also the weekend for Steamboat Days in Carver and Saturday night at this event is always a blast.

Then again, my niece is a member of the UW-Stout dance team and she will be performing at the Jamestown College/UW-Stout game Saturday afternoon on September 11 and would be happy to see her uncle Johnnie Red at the game. I would then be able to head over to Carson Park for the Johnnie/UW-Eau Claire game and host the Stiftungsfestivities prior to the game starting. As Dusty would say, developing!

This past weekend I ran into two Vikings cheerleaders Saturday at the Carver County Fair in Waconia. I mentioned to them the request I have in to the Vikings administration to have their cheerleaders make an appearance at the Johnnie-Tommie game for homecoming on October 2. They seemed very excited about it. One of them was a Gustie grad and spoke highly of Clemens Stadium.

As I was leaving the fairgrounds, I noticed a pickup truck with a sticker on the back window that said the following: "Even though I am not a gynecologist, I would be happy to take a look." :o

TDT will be there.  Tailgating should commence around 4-5pm.  I'll be over at Hamline for their game with Pacific Lutheran at Noon where I hope to scout the All-World talents of Ray Grant #15 and his pal Nick Wyatt #45.

Feel free to send them a gift oz.  and yes you probably do smell fear.  I'm anxious to see what's going to be in the kickoff preview, because I've got a feeling a lot of freshmen are going to have to step up into big roles right away.

INNOCENCE IS PRICELESS

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Randy standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it.
The six-year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up,
stood beside the little boy, and said quietly, 'Good morning Randy.'
'Good morning Pastor,' he replied, still focused on the plaque. 'Pastor, what is this?'
The pastor said, 'Well son, it's a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.'
Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.

Finally, little Randy's voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked, 'Which service, the 8:30 or the 10:45?'

Forgot to mention this yesterday.  I had lunch at Shamrocks on W. 7th St with Mr. Vacation on Sunday.  Mayor you shoulda seen his Cape Cod gear.  I had the Triple B Burger (Veek's favorite of course with cinnamon encrusted bacon, smoked cheddar cheese, and a bourbon sauce).  LBean had a california burger.  I gave him the business about this.  I mean of all the great choices (Juicy Lucy, Mauer Double Play, Juicy Supreme, West 7th burger) he went with something WITHOUT cheese and only lettuce/tomato.  WTF??

Closed Circuit to Veek: Mr. Vacation had the bloody mary.  You woulda creamed yourself over this thing.  Also being the MIAC PP resident strip club expert, can you recommend a good gentlemen's establishment in Vegas for LBean?  Told me he'd like to partake during a business trip in September (I said Spearmint Rhino)....

retagent and his partner got steamrolled, 5 & 3, by a 15 handicap and his partner in a year-long Match Play Tourney. Said 15 handicapper was on his way to shooting a net 66 or thereabouts. To put it in perspective, a Touring Pro who is around a +4 would have had to shoot a 61 to beat someone like that. Freakin' sandbaggers. They are a bane to this world. I always thought golf was a game of integrity. &^##^*

Feel your pain on that one. Play in a little 9-hole match play league on Monday nights (two-man best ball). This happens to us all the time. Had a 28 handicap fire a 41 on us the final night. Washed away disappointment with beer.
