FWIW, I guess Crown brought 21 starters back on Off & Def this year, so they definitely had plenty of experience.

That would be of slightly more comfort if Carleton wasn't returning 20 starters.  I look forward to the Bethel game in two weeks.  I have some good memories (and a couple bad ones) of past Carleton-Bethel games.

I voted for STD upset, although I really wanted to go with JR and Gaga. Hooray it's football season, plus k for the page, except ypsi.

UST Tommie's 40 - St. Norbert's Collage 7.
It wasn't even that close...

Well, that was a great game.  I reckon we're up for a great clash against the Tommies.  I'm bummed that I will miss the broadcast.  I'm even missing next week against the boys from Wiscy.

My only downside from this game... four fumbles...  two lost.  I don't know what's up with those greasy hands, but they better invest in a crate load of Stickum.

QuoteI wanna know if VOJ went psycho on the kick return TD.  49-7.  Linfield should be scared.

We're scared of Willamette and Menlo now too. Oh well, one game at a time.

I think the Johnnies have successfully replaced Gliadon at kicker.  Did anyone see the new kid pounding them through from the 40 at halftime.  I realize he had a tail wind and it wasn't under game conditions but the ball made it through with plenty of distance.  His kickoffs were even making into the end zone.

Also...did anybody else notice #51 Joey Benson playing center late in the game 5'-10", 195...I think he might be John's grandson.

Does the cougar I met at a downtown Scottsdale establishment last night count?  God bless plastic surgeons in the Valley of the Sun...

Dens: Yea Linfield is in for a world of hurt this season.  I can't wait for WC11 to whimper like a little school girl when his squad is 6-3 again.  "Oh Joe Smith is the savior"....

VOJ: Time to start posting.  You sounded real rusty on the radio yesterday.  I did hear "through the grapevine" that you nearly keeled over on Bonyge's KO return for 6.  Gotta step up your game.  No excuses.  No bullsh!t.  Just results.

Closed circuit to Dusty: I managed to keep Brad & Marty out of trouble at The La Saturday post-game.

The only cougar (us)TDT is likely to have met would have been at the Scottsdale zoo.

D3Football.com:
It's a big win for the Northwest Conference's consensus No. 2 team against the No. 2 from the WIAC, and gives us our first big game with playoff implications right out of the gate. Willamette did well for itself if it needs to compete for an at-large bid, while UW-Stevens Point would be in trouble.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a little early to name team x or team y the number 2, 3, 4 or whatever in any conference one game into the season?

I humbly disagree with you. Willamette gambled this year like LINFIELD did last year by getting any good game they can.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, (I'm too lazy to read back after being out of town yesterday) but it appears that ray grant has taken down his twitter feed.  There goes some good entertainment....
