I just read the Statistical Spotlight from the front page of d3football.com.  Gagliardi might have fallen over on the spot if we had this Howard Payne kicker playing for the Johnnies...

Howard Payne sophomore kicker Mitchell Bailey hit a pair of 50-yard field goals and finished with four on the game in a double-overtime 40-34 road loss to Trinity. Bailey, whose other field goals came from 44 and 35 yards out, also ran in a two-point conversion. The two point conversion came on a missnap that went high, right into Bailey's hands. He sprinted for the pilon and beat the Trinity defense. The second 50-yarder sent the game into double overtime. Bailey was also good on his two extra-point attempts.

Gagliardi would simply point out that his team lost. ;)

Veeeeeeeeeeeeek: Come out and play!!!  Are you making the trip to UWEC?  I understand that the greater Eau-Claire area has an abundance of Gentlemen's Clubs...

RE: Ray Grant of Hamline...

He has changed his Twitter handle to RayGrant13 (must have been a number change).  He has also provided a prediction for his performance this week against D-3 great Pacific Lutheran.  "4 catches, 50 yds, 1 TD"

I think the Johnnies have successfully replaced Gliadon at kicker.  Did anyone see the new kid pounding them through from the 40 at halftime.  I realize he had a tail wind and it wasn't under game conditions but the ball made it through with plenty of distance.  His kickoffs were even making into the end zone.
By the looks of things, the kicking talent pool for SJU is deep this year. And anyone kicking north to south had a huge wind boost on Saturday.

Also...did anybody else notice #51 Joey Benson playing center late in the game 5'-10", 195...I think he might be John's grandson.
You are correct. Good football bloodlines, but too small for a center.

Ha Bench you dog.

Make sure to follow me on Twitter at USTDT.  I'll be tweeting pics, video, commentary, tailgating snapshots etc from the games this season along with my venerable colleague Finsleft.

Should also have some action shots of everyone's favorite MIAC player Ray Grant at Hamline on Saturday!!

Dens: Yea Linfield is in for a world of hurt this season.  I can't wait for WC11 to whimper like a little school girl when his squad is 6-3 again.  "Oh Joe Smith is the savior"....

Calm down TDT...you guys beat NWC not UWW.  Don't worry about Linfield, we'll be ok this season.  :)

AO

Not much left to say about Northwestern - SJU, but as far as I can tell our QB didn't start a single game in high school (mounds view) and should improve quickly.  They played well enough to make me want to give up Gopher-USC tickets to go down to St. Peter in a couple weeks.

in other news:  Pick-Em's for week 2 have been posted.

Your QB can really heave the ball, AO. Too bad he couldn't hit his receivers. There were several plays where the receivers ran good routes and were open in the seams, but were out-thrown by 10 or so yards.

ReallY?  You'd miss a chance to see Lane Kiffin bring the Trojans to town in order to see a game at Gustavus?  You're hopeless, AO.  But make sure you stop in at the bar on the main drag in St. Peter that has the sign "Bikers welcome!"

Butts arrested in Boob murder case

On Friday, state police arrested Kermit Butts, 26, of Madisonburg, Centre County, in connection with the killing last year of Samuel Boob, 29, of Potter Township...

My thanks to everyone who helped get the Stiftungsfestivities off to a great start this past Saturday. The culinary delights that were donated were wonderful. Always nice to have someone in attendance who was at the Lady Gaga concert last week when I played her cd for the crowd. My gal pal showed me her pictures of Lady Gaga yesterday. Very interesting outfits, to say the least. ::)

My daughter is in law school at Penn State.  State College is in Centre County.  Forwarded her the link.  Don't think she'll find it as funny as we juveniles on PP.

You guys will go right by "Shooters" on your way into EC. Look for the HWY 29 exit, Exit 52.

I've never been there. Those kinds of places make me nervous.  :-[
