Fins - Kudos on your great article this week on Johnniefootball.com.  My A+ rating for you this week has nothing to do with you mentioning yours truly, either.  Well, maybe just a little bit.  Keep up the excellent work.

TMerton - congrats on your debut article this week, too.
Go Johnnies!!!

Some non-MIAC teasers for the board:

1- How many games until Brewster is fired as head coach for the Goophers?

2- Does Maturi get the ax as well?

3- Who are the most likely replacement candidates for head coach?
---------------------------
My take:

1- 7 games. After going 1-6 after the USD implosion (2-7 overall) they are officially out of contention for even the crappiest of bowls and Maturi cans Brewster in an attempt to save his own job.

2 - Yes. Maturi gets the ax after the team finishes 3-8, if for nothing more than to ensure that he has nothing to do with hiring the next Goopher football experiment.

3- Tony Dungy...the sexy, MN connections pick, but why on earth would he take this program on when he could have his pick of NCAA or NFL teams?
Mike Leach...might just be crazy enough to say yes.
Phil Fulmer...becaues Goopher U loves SEC sloppy seconds, no matter what the sport.
David Cutcliffe ...hey, even MN is a step up from Duke (at least it used to be). And they avoid the uncertainty of hiring a guy who's never been a head coach, which is significant after the Brewster disaster.
June Jones...a team that can put up tons of points but has a worthless defense seems like just what the doctor ordered.
Frank Solich...Is actually turning things around at lowly Ohio, and there is something sexy about Solich coaching against Nebraska in its inaugural Big Ten season
Todd Graham...Tulsa is a very good non-BCS team, maybe too good for him to consider coming to MN.
Kevin Sumlin...Houston gave him an extension, but maybe he's sick of being snubbed by the BCS?
Glen Caruso...I just couldn't resist!!  :o

Who'd I leave out?
Who are the favorites?
Who can Minnesota actually convince to come coach here, especially considering the competition they'll face next year in their new division.

Thoughts??

1.  End of the season.
2.  W/ Pres. Bruninks retiring at the end of the year it might be up to a new president to fire Maturi.  My feeling is that the basketball team under Terrible Tubby will barely crack the top half of the big 12 ( I mean 10) and they will need to dump Brewster, Tubby and Maturi.
3.  I don't have a clue...but it has got to be somebody that actually has experience and knows how to coach football.

Not sure I like the new look-is there a way to see the top 25 listed in order, when they play and if there is audio or video. I like the old look for that.

on the whole I really like the upgrade.

But yeah, I wish they listed the Top 25 in order and still had hyperlinks to each teams page from the Scoreboard.

Maybe those things are still coming later?

Talk about a perfect day for football. 60 and sunny...man I love fall in MN!

I also like the upgrade but do agree with the top 25 on Scoreboard  :)

Well Concordia's online audio, is of course not working. And SJU is charging $10 to listen. >:(

Cobb, what link were you using for the SJU broadcast? St. John's does not charge and the link is available through their website. I hope you didn't end up forking over any money.

Listened to the second half. Sounds like the offense was impressive. In the last 20 years, how many times has St. John's had 500 yards of offense against Concordia? The defense obviously struggled, but I think by the end of the season they'll be a pretty typical St. John's defense.

I went to Columbia's home opener today. As usual, they managed to lose at the end in an odd way. Pretty much the same story of every game I've seen. Columbia's coached by Norries Wilson, a former Gopher. One of his assistants is John Gutekunst, the old Gophers coach. In 10 years, I fully expect to see Tim Brewster coaching the secondary for an Ivy League school.

Read that Lipp suffered a knee injury, but didn't hear anymore about it on the broadcast. Hopefully it's not serious.

Big win for the Johnnies- refs were brutal in the second half...holding/intentional grounding on multiple plays.

Cobbers are not a bad team at all- potential to upset other top MIAC teams and help the Johnnies out!

1st time I ever heard a Johnnie admit the need to be "helped out"!!!

This was added in by mid-day. Only issue is ... unfortunately ... teams with apostrophes in their names. That did not get figured out today. But yes, some rollout pieces didn't get done until today.
