Tough news for Johnnies. Can't get the link up right now but according to Frank R.'s blog, Brayde Lipp is out for the year with a torn ACL. Seemed like he was going to be the big-play threat that had been lacking a bit the last few years.

I miss Mighty Royal. :'(  All the same, Chuck Norris was a pussy.

A couple of interesting games this weekend.

SJU v Auggie Tech - I'm interested to see this game. If the SJU D doesn't step up, Auggie Tech could put up some big points. I kind of expect Auggie Tech to play well in the first half and then get rolled over in the second. But, if SJU doesn't learn to stop their offense, it could be a lot closer than expected. Are any Johnnie fans even a little worried/curious?

UST v CCM - If UST steamrolls CCM, it could reveal how good they really are. I'm thinking UST will do just that, but I haven't counted out CCM yet.

Carleton v Hamline - OK, this isn't that interesting for anyone else, but I'm interested to see if Carleton can get their D figured out and start to play with teams.  Also, anytime you get the oppurtunity to see Ray Grant Jr. play, you need to take full advantage of it.

Not even a little bit.  I've seen the Johnnies flat-out steam roll one-dimensional teams plenty.  Could be a fun game to watch, though.

Me!  Of course I'm always worried, but the D has to step up.  I think they will, but they're young/new/thin at some important spots, so the new guys gotta step up.

Ok since there continues to be strong interest in the season/career of Ray Grant Jr. at Hamline I'll be debuting a Ray Grant Jr. Tracker in this week's Game Preview to be posted later today.  I'll let everyone in on a little secret of the MIAC's premier preseason trash talker...he has 0 catches for 0 yards and 0 touchdowns.

Great to see the Mayor last night at Kieran's for a few ice cold Finnegan's.  Beautiful night at the yard and an electric atmosphere.  2 weeks from today the mayhem begins.  Many thanks to SJU56321's pal Retired Old Rat for the invitation to the ballgame.

I never realized the Japanese had such good sense!  (Sorry, JJR - but on the other hand it now seems she's free to accept an invitation to attend Homecoming - should you decide to extend it. :P)

Can he do that while she has a change of venue request into his court pending?   8-)

Maybe we could have Paris earn some of her community service hours by helping me set up the Stiftungsfestivities, grilling the burgers and pork patties and then modeling some red lingerie to help everyone stay focused before the game. ;D

Johnnie fans, we will be having a gathering at the Cabooze Bar this Saturday morning before the Auggie Tech game. The Cabooze is located at 917 Cedar Avenue S in Mpls. It opens at 9:00 a.m. We will have things going by 10:00 a.m. Be there or be square!

Likewise, Mr. President.
Looks like the scrubs and the hungover players are rallying again this afternoon. This Twins team is pretty fun to watch.

Pick-Ems are up. Game to watch: According to Pat and Keith on Around the Nation podcast, MIAC pride is on the line this week when #20 Eau-Claire travels to #14 North Central as the CCIW will move past the MIAC with a win.

SUMMIT!!!!!

EXCELLENT evening at Target Field last night. Thanks again, ROR and good to see you again. Also good to see you, TDT.. it was a meeting of great baseball minds. Watching the Twins celebrate after CWS' loss had me wondering-- wat next? Hopefully no ridiculous celebrations for winning a round or even 2 of the playoffs. However, HUGE celebration allowed/encouraged when/if they win the WS.

Looking forward to the next issue of Sports Illustrated-- I guess the cover shows Thome at bat in Target Field and is headlined "A Prairie Homer Companion". its nice to see at least one 40 yr  old athlete play well in MN  :)

Weather permitting, I plan to be at UST's romp over Concordia..... will you be in house, Cobbernation?
