Looks like Carleton took a page out of the Olaf manual in field preparation for the upcoming Carleton-St.John's game.

Note to the AD: If you decide to turn the sprinklers on, don't forget to turn them off...

Seriously though, that is an incredible picture. Given that Carleton's field usually isn't in the best shape to begin with, this could be a disaster down the stretch. Any thought ever been given to going to field turf there?

Quote of the week: Peter King at si.com "I am no gambler, nor am I a threat to ever make money in Sin City. But making Minnesota a double-digit favorite over St. Olaf right now seems a stretch, and doing it against the Lions -- with a very dangerous defensive front -- seems like a matador holding the red cape in front of the bull."  :o

That made me smile...

I know I took the points on that one ... 8-)

More pictures of Northfield flooding.  From what I've heard they received 6.5 inches of rain in under 48 hours.

Has anyone had an Oz sighting lately?  He's the leader in the clubhouse but hasn't submitted his picks.  Unfortunately this wouldn't be the first time the leader didn't submit his picks as Tmerton was likely traveling last saturday and forgot to submit despite leading the pack.

Understanding the difficulty of finding a computer while traveling, I think we'd all be ok if he phoned in his picks to anyone who might happen to have his number here.

Oz has my email and can ship to me and I can post for him (if he does it soon, before I leave for the airport), but he'll likely appear.  I had a brain fart last week and plumb forgot - rememberd just as I walked into the stadium. >:(

Bench, it pains me greatly to compliment a Tommie (that is not my daughter).  Very well put and +k to you.  And everyone else in celebration of the weekend.  Hope the rain stops!

If anyone has experienced flooding or a fire in a home or business (I've experienced both) flooding makes you feel useless as you try to salvage waterlogged possessions. My heart goes out to those effected by this flooding.  :'(
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

That is rough. It looks like mostly athletic buildings/facilities took the brunt of it on campus. Any word on where the teams will play and practice in the upcoming weeks?

I apologize for the joke earlier, didn't realize it was that bad.  :-[

I for one, will be thoroughly enjoying my weekend in Lincoln on Oct. 16.

We should have a MIAC confab on O Street (it's a bye week for SJU and we had to go somewhere).   Now if I can only get my nephew in Houston to release his tickets to me. 8-)

Congrats to Wooderson on baby girl this morning. Wondered if he and Morneau shared the waiting room?

At least I have the MHS game on the radio but no idea what to do tomorrow since the Devils have a bye.  :P

Section, after my previous home was wasted in 2007 in a straight line wind major storm and flooded from all the rain coming in through the open roof and buckled exterior walls and broken windows, a guy just can't see or hear about these kinds of things without major compassion.

Trying to provide for your family, and then not even being able to provide a home is a hit on a dad and husband. Especially with young children. Make sure your insurance is good my friends.

Mine was, thankfully. My previous home wasn't repaired for occupation for 5 months. We never lived there again after the storm.

Hey, BDB, I'm just sitting around waiting to head to the airport.

Here's a great story from last week's Texas - Texas Tech game:

Before last week's rivalry game between No. 4 Texas and Texas Tech, Red Raiders running back Baron Batch prayed that he would have a "long game-changing run."   Unfortunately for Batch, he did - but it backfired.

From Batch's weekly column in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal:

"All week I was praying that I would have a long game-changing run. Turns out I did. I had the longest run of my career Saturday night. A sprint of about 70 yards; unfortunately, it was chasing down a UT player from behind. Indeed, God has a sense of humor, and after I thought about the irony of the situation I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. So what's the moral of the story? The moral of the story is to pray very specific prayers!"
