We will be hosting the Stiftungsfestivities at Royaland this Saturday. It will be between the SoHo parking lot and the east end of the football stadium. We should be there by 9:30 a.m. to get the party going. Bring a culinary delight to share. No adult beverages are allowed.

Is it time to start the debate on this page as to whether it is a good idea to schedule a difficult team for a non-conference game or go with the cupcake. If SJU schedules Crown instead of UW-EC, does SJU have only 1 loss and still in prime position for the playoffs?
If UST and UW-EC both finish the year ranked-does that give a 2 loss SJU team a leg up on many 1 loss teams?

Pat Coleman

Well, I think one thing St. John's fans have to worry about is the very real possibility that UW-EC ends up the season with two losses. So SJU would have to hope to be a second two-loss team getting a Pool C bid.

You had to choose Crown, didn't you?   :-[

SJU did schedule a cupcake in NW. I don't think two teams of NW-caliber on their schedule would not benefit SJU.

Everything depends upon the type of team you have. If it's a team that's growing and doesn't have it's identity yet (Carleton), it may be good to schedule a lesser opponent for a non-conference game (that worked out well). If it's a team like SJU, then I don't think they gain anything by stomping two very bad teams. Scheduling two average-good teams would be fine.

The problem is you likely don't know which team you have until after the schedule is set in stone.

Wow...they actually mowed the grass today at Laird Stadium!

https://apps.carleton.edu/news/features/flooding_20101005/?image_id=673444

Hmmm ... six inches of sediment on the practice fields and they're mowing grass in the stadium?  No sediment there?  Any word yet on whether they'll play games there this year?

From what I have heard, they will not be playing there.  The field is in good shape, but there are no facilities around the stadium that could be used as a locker room or anything like that.  I could be wrong though, considering how fast the field is recovering.

None or very little silt/sentiment made it on to the game field, but the practice field is a different story.

No locker rooms and doubtful the field would be game-ready at any point this fall. Looks like the Knights will be road warriors the rest of the way.

Touchdown Tommy

Alright you crazy rabble rousers.  I've just posted this week's Game Preview at JohnnieFootball.com.  Oh and disregard everything Johnnie Red says.  The Hamm's flows at Bethel.  I have even heard a rumour that my pal OneArmedScot may make an appearance...

Who's going to the Twins game tonight?

Veek: Will you be at Bethel on Saturday morning?  Considering the bye week, your family reunion (great scheduling there), and scheduled away games following that...
Chasing MILFs since '82...

Veek

I may be going.  I would say that the chances of attending the game on Saturday would be 99% if I knew that TDT wouldn't be there.
Go Johnnies!!!

I think UWEC will lose more than 2 games.

Pat Coleman

I'm sure you do. :) And they may well do that. Would that help St. John's? It might both help and hurt them.

The Johnnies are going to need a whole lot of Johnnie Magic from around the nation for a Pool C bid  :-[
