'Twas the morning before gameday, when all through the board
Not a thing was stirring, not even TDT in a blouse
The Johhnies were done and fall is barely in the air
But they still hold out hope of a miracle and that a pool c bid would be there
The Tommies are thinking of the Stagg Bowl, but really they're dead
As visions of Caruso bolting to the Goophies danced in their heads

That's all I got...

That was pretty good!

Anyone else see the Huskers' QB Taylor Martinez last night? (16.1 ypc, 241 yds rushing, 4 TD's, 5-7 for 128 yds passing, 1 TD)

Wow...I was having wonderful flashbacks of Mr. Crouch and Mr. Frazier. He'll need to sustain this long term & win some big games/hardware to really be in their class, but he's off to the right start.

Can't wait for next weekend to see in person what he can do against the Longhorns D.

And I really can't wait for next years match-up with Denard "No Shoe Laces" Robinson from Michigan.

Question: Can anyone remember a head to head of two such ridiculous good running QB's before?

I think TDT is still crying in his beer over the twins and the lost income from ticket sales for the ALCS-or Pat beat the SH!T out of him and he is recovering. Take your pick.

It is incredibly quiet on here today.  Anyone who's seen both BU and SJU play this year that would care to provide us with a breakdown of what they expect on saturday?

UPDATE: Excuse the flub. The Tommies haven't even been to a Final 4, much less won a title in hoops...
Wonk,

You might want to double check your records, Toms have been to at least one final four in hoops.

Hopefully the only thing on saturday is that the umps working the playoffs will take their heads out of their (insert anything here) and be ready to make some correct calls at critical times.  Yes, even the twins benefitted from a blown call in game 1 when the guy caught a fly ball to end the game but it was ruled a hit.  However, when a strike isn't called and costs the twins the game is crazy.  The S.F. Giants got a sweet call last night too.  Apparently when you are tagged out stealing, you are ruled safe!  If we have technology to make the game fair by getting calls correct then it should be happening.  It won't make a diffence if a game last 20 min more when the game is already 3 hours long to begin with.

Come to a tailgate. We'll go TDT and Wonka vs. PC and stanbob  ;D

PS - Has anyone else seen the deadspin video on Favre with the Jets intern yet? I'm surprised this hasn't got more mainstream media attention. I'm going to hold off on posting the link because it includes some alleged Favre cock shots...which may explain why TDT has been so quiet of late  :P
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

For St. Thomas attendance numbers, let's correct for the statistical surge that is St. John's playing at St. Thomas and re-run the numbers so that we are comparing apples to apples.

2010: Average 3,150 fans (no home game against St. John's, three scheduled home games remaining)
2009: Average 2,625 fans (no home game against St. John's)
2008: Average 2,500 fans (average including St. John's: 3,542)
2007: Average 2,775 fans (no home game against St. John's)
2006: Average 2,250 fans (average including St. John's: 2,842)

Draw your own conclusions but this is a more accurate representation of the everyday fan base at a St. Thomas home game, in my opinion.

Pat - On the attendance last weekend, I note your expressed skepticism about the attendance figure.  You're pretty good if you can tell the difference between 16k and 15k by eyeballing the crowd, but did you ask SJU how they did the count?  I understand they stopped selling tickets at some point (a first to my knowledge) so they'd have some idea of the point at which they would stop doing that.  Tickets alone won't tell the whole story, though, as I got in using a J Club pass, and I'm sure I'm not alone in using the pass.

Confirms my suspicions, Thanks for the effort Pat-appreciate it. Hopefully those numbers continue to climb!

I did. They said they used a clicker to count people through the gate but I didn't see anyone with clickers at either of the gates I stood near.

The difference isn't noting 15K vs 16K -- it's noticing whether 6,421 people were standing or sitting on the hill. Just didn't seem right to me or to the writers seated next to me.

It's a reasonable estimate, don't get me wrong, but I didn't see any evidence to support it being anything other than an estimate.

I didn't see any clickers at the gate I entered either.

Maybe they were counting pizza ads.

sju#57

Don't mean to call your bluff, but I did see 2 guy's with clickers at the main gate when I entered at about 12....I was givin the guy **** about it say'in I hope it went past 3 didgets....hey kinda laughed and went back to counting.....Didn't seem like 16,000 +  but who knows or really cares....there was a $hit load of people....

Anyone know if the internet has made it to far enough north for Concordia to have live video of the game?

It hasn't even made it to Collegeville.

Everything's not so up to date in the cities either, though.  Bethel still has only their 2009 Media Guide on their website, and their Game Day Notes are from last year's Augsburg game.
