It's clear that SJU is upset because they have lost 3 games in the regular season for the first time since 1997.  Too bad and join the majority of the MIAC teams who deals with it each season.  Losing 3 games where none of us have control is not the end of the world.  It's probably harder to take 3 losses when SJU is used to winning every game during the regular season and if they lose it's a complete shock and never should have happened.  Let UST and bethel have their moment in the sun of representing the MIAC well in football.  These cycles tend to happen, even Concordia had their days in 2004 and 05 were towards the top and now are fighting to keep from the very bottom of the conference.  Trust me I don't lose sleep if the cobbers lose.  There are things more important in my life than football.

I have a coaching friend who puts officiating like this:  If you are beaten by an official's bad call it is because you put yourself in the position where the bad call could beat you.

You can look at any game and find missed opportunities or costly mistakes.  Sometimes you overcome them and sometimes they come back to bite you.

This is true, but then again, the other team is getting rewarded even though it surely has its own missed opportunities or mistakes, right?

Saturday Afternoon Update: Although Ray Grant Jr. goes absolutely off the chain for a career high 2 catches for 17 yards, the Pipers were unable to hang with the Tommies...

If Ray Grant even dresses on Saturday I'll be suprised.

English language and d3.com boards, are they compatible?

BlueandGold.  I don't see the inconsistency; there is no intellectual dishonesty on my part. "play the game and don't  let it get in a situation where a blown call can make the difference" in no way prohibits me from expressing an opinion about MIAC football officials – two separate audiences.  Is this stuff too subtle?

The crew at the Concordia game swallowed their collective whistles; they went out of their way not to make a holding call.  The O-line was riding the D-line like they were show ponies at the county fair.  Horan and his staff coach their O-Line to hold until the penalty is called – not an uncommon practice for many coaches in many sports.  When the official doesn't make the correct call, intentionally in this case (IMHO), they create a clear advantage for the O-line.

WashedUp.  Learn to read a thread, before you quote me out of context. The quote in question was in reference to UWEC and BU – so in some sense you got that part right.  The discussion much further down the thread then introduces Concordia as a means to make a counter point.  Come on, you are "Starter" status, that suggests the training wheels were taken off a long time ago.

I've heard they may be protecting him for his try out in the European summer league  ;)

Maybe he could play for the Goofers. Their players love to publicly savage their squad, coaches, teammates via Twitter and Facebook, and project their delusions about their worth as a football player via the web.

Thanks for the clarification sfury.  I was just using the record as others had stated without double checking.  6-6 says even more since Bethel first beat SJU in 1999.  The Royals have figured out the formula and have much to be proud of.  The Bethel posters need not be so defensive or cynical.  They are getting honest to goodness props for an extended period of excellent play against 1 of D3's premier programs.

In other news, here is a pic of VOJ.  Can someone embiggen this?  Look closely, our pal VOJ had a little "accident" at the tailgate party Saturday morning and LBean makes a surprise celebrity appearance in the background.  Many thanks to TimeforChange2 for making an appearance.  Good to see you too John!

Happened to have ESPN 1500 on the radio yesterday around 5 PM.     Our friend Trickster called in.     The guys on the radio seemed very familiar with Trkster.      And had very nice things to say about him.     it was great to see him at the Bethel game.   And the story about his hound  taking a dump on their field in front of Steve Johnson?    Priceless.

I'm on the road to Madison right now to work Gameday. Anyone going to the game this weekend and want a tour of the show? Anyone is welcome to come!

It isn't hard to figure it out who I am if you really want to.  Finding my number to call me might be slightly more difficult.

Would I dial +1-608-2*1-9**0 and ask to be transferred?   8-)

Good guess, the number has changed recently, though.  Maybe it wasn't as difficult as I thought.
