I evidently arrived in Portland two days late! Will be heading to McMinnville tomorrow morning with my daughter to do some tailgating and then take in the Linfield-Pacific game. Will probably have to visit a few vineyards after the game for the wonderful wine here in Oregon.

They will probably be disappointed in the atmosphere at Mount Union, although Game Day going there would improve that.

I'm going to Eau Claire this week and would love to start the day in Madison but not going to happen. Have a good show.

Hopefully they do another one nearby that you can come to. If Iowa keeps winning they could be an option...

Let the debate begin, how would we rank the West Region right now. Obviously a lot will change before the actual regional rankings are released, but its fun anyway.

I'm loosely basing mine on the formula that the committee itself will follow. E.g. top 25 is irrelevant and number of in region wins/losses matter, etc.

1. UWW (5-0, 2-0 west region) Championships tend to neutralize lack of regional wins
2. UST (6-0, 6-0) plenty of in-region credentials (i.e. St. Norbert, UWRF, SJU)
3. Bethel (5-0, 5-0) signature victory over SJU
4. Coe (5-0, 3-0) signature win over Central, but 2 fewer regional games
5. Wartburg (5-0, 5-0) in-region wins, signature victory might come this weekend
6. PLU (4-0, 4-0) solid win over Cal Lut, big game in two weeks v. Linfield
7. Central (5-1, 4-1) Better than this slot, but committee won't put them before an unbeaten
8. Cal Lutheran (3-1, 3-1) If Linfield beats PLU, I don't know where you rank these 3 teams
9. Linfield (3-1, 3-1) Willamette down, PLU to go...win both and up they go
10. Redlands (3-1, 2-1) small body of work
11. Ripon (5-1, 5-1) No quality wins
12. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (4-0, 4-0) no quality wins & I think they lose to Redlands on Sat. Win & they move up quite a bit
13. UW-Stout (3-2, 3-1) FWIW, out of region losses still tend to hurt you

A few things to keep in mind
-This doesn't necessarily represent where I think each team sits talent wise, but is more based upon the criteria the committee considers, but I admit I didn't dig into OWP or OOWP either
- Coe/Wartburg winner should jump Bethel after Saturday, you could argue that Coe already has, but the two fewer regional games has to count for something.
- BU/UST will tell us a lot. If its close and both win out, loser is prime at large candidate
- Still possible that we end up with 5 unbeatens in the West. More likely scenario...3 or 4 with CMS dropping a few and Coe, Wartburg & PLU all with a few big games remaining
- If Bethel beats UST and Wartburg beats Coe, UWW is likely staying in the West bracket come playoff time
- If Wartburg wins out, IIAC probably only sees 1 representative
- West Coast is just a quagmire right now, but it should start to sort itself out soon
** Still a ton more football to be played

How would you rank them?

If tOSU, Iowa and MSU all keep rolling you'd have to have at least one of those match-ups be a college game day stop in Iowa City wouldn't you? If both OSU and Iowa win out, that game on November 20 would decide the Big Ten title, Kinnick would be rockin'

You are a Nebraska guy right? Gameday might end up going there in a few weeks for the Missouri game.

You know it! We're actually heading down to Lincoln tonight for the UT game tomorrow. Unfortunately UT didn't exactly live up to their end of the pre-game hype, but it should still be a great game.

If they keep running the Big Ten table, I'd almost guarantee the 11/20 Iowa/Ohio State game would get moved to prime-time and game day would be there.

Not to say it'd happen, but
-If OSU makes it out of Madison, they have Purdue, @Minnesota and Penn State before Iowa
-If Iowa makes it out of Ann Arbor, they have Wisconsin, Michigan St., @Indiana and @Northwestern before OSU.

Iowa's remaining schedule is tougher, but the big boys all are coming to Kinnick.  I'm always a bit skittish when Iowa travels to Evanston.  They always seem to play us tough. Plus we'd have the shadow of the following week's OSU game looming over us.

Should this matchup come to pass.....Kinnick will be a madhouse and I'd love to spend the entire day on Melrose Ave.

How bad does that scenario make you want the first half against Arizona back!

fins;

You missed the last pick in your pickem's.
Thanks Oz. Was able to rectify with my fat thumbs on the Droid from the comfort of the la-z-boy at the hunting palace. Just might put me over the top.
Great day in the woods today...9 partridge. Great dinner with homemade cranberry wine. Aaaah

I'd settle for having the first 5 min of that game back (blocked punt to set up a TD and a pick-6)

I despise the Yankees so much that I'd cheer for the Tommies first.

With the Johnnies on the bye week I'm able to work on the "honey-do list"  :-\

Here's hoping all the MIAC teams in action play injury free today.

Good luck & safe travels to all MIACPP regulars.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Johnnies having an off year. Gopher football - who ever cared? Gopher hockey - still to be determined. Twins - out. Vikings - can't figure them out.

Thank goodness my Caps look strong, otherwise it would be a long fall and winter sport season.

Just musing on Bye Week.
