The bad news keeps pouring in.  Paris Hilton has just ruled out any future attendance at the Stiftungfestivities.  "I'm done with paryting," she says. :'(

Adam Weber is a class act.  I feel sorry for him, and the other players.  Brewster was just in over his head.

Yeah, I really feel for Adam Weber. Just didn't seem like he ever had a chance to really showcase his stuff. He'll leave as the Gophers career record holder in yds (and tds??) while operating under a revolving door of offensive coordinators and systems. Tough gig. But you always got the sense he handled himself well despite all the junk going on around him on the coaching staff.

Adam Weber may be the worst QB in the Big Ten. Maybe that is stretching it a bit, but he is awful. I credit him for sticking it out with the carousel of offensive coordinators he has had, but still he is brutal. He will make a great pass one play, then the next three passes he will bounce to his receivers. Look at last year against South Dakota State. We scored only 16 points against a lower tier school, when a couple weeks later the University of Montana hung about 70 on them. Enough said.

Adam Weber is a spread QB who has been forced to play in a ridiculous pro-style offense for two years - look at his Freshman and Sophomore years v. his Junior and Senior years.

Also, not that it's any excuse but South Dakota State lost that game 61-48, so it's not like they couldn't score.

Hiring Brewster was a gamble, but not the biggest gamble in the world -- new stadium, lots of to offer recruits, and of all the Brewster "assets" recruiting appeared to be one.  Further, Maturi at least had the sense to hire training wheels in the form of Mike Dunbar.  Brewster never let Dundbar implement the spread and some day he may look back a realize his mistake.  It was at the stage that Brewster fired Dunbar, that Maturi should have known he made a mistake.  He compounded that mistake (maybe) with the extension, but he also received better terms on the buy-out.

I expect Maturi will get it right this time, and finish just in time to start looking for a new head hockey coach.

As I undersatsnd this, the extention was given so that the U could get more favorable buyout conditions.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think now might be a good time in the week to remind Bethel to run the ball and milk the clock as much as possible, this way they don't get laughed out of an at-large bid.

Yours in good humor,

The extension was given so Brewster could go sell himself and the program, i.e., "I will be around, I was just given an extension."  In return, the U hedged their bets and negotiated more favorable buy-out terms (for the U).  Both parties got something from the transaction.

What constitutes a blow out in these parts?  Two, three, four touchdowns?

For the record PA doesn't know jack $hit and D1 was never an option for FW, not in football anyway.  He is also one hell of a basketball player.

You shut that dirty keyboard about PA.  The man is a visionary and oratorical legend.  If he said it, it's true.

Also, listening to the Vikings game on the way back from South Bend Sunday, Greg Coleman (on the sideline) quoted Exodus extensively and referred to Favre as Moses on the mountain.  A more entertaining pair would be hard to find.

I heard it as well and thought he (Coleman) had come un-hinged!

We don't use blow out on this board.
A 'Monkey Stomp' is 21 points  :P

I tend to agree about PA....especially when listening to him do the vikings games.

I don't mind him in small doses when he occasionally does a bit on the power trip morning show, but anything over 5 minutes is an overdose.

I tried to find the post where the stomp rules were laid out, but couldn't.  Is this an accurate memory?

Monkey Stomp = victory by at least 21 points
Monkey Stompout = shutout victory by at least 21 points
Double Monkey Stomp = victory by at least 42 points (moving up the stomp count every 21 points)
Double Monkey Stompout = shutout victory by at least 42 points (again moving up to the triple at 63 points)

It seems to me that we had a few other conditions defined, but I can't remember them.  Any others with some stable neurons?
