Anyone have a contractor they can recommend in the Twin Cities?  I've got a bathroom remodel project that needs taking care of.  Send me a private message.

A tradition unrivaled...

QuoteI can't fathom why you plan to be in Collegeville on Saturday to watch a meaningless game.

I believe it's merely fashion for I hear he has a new, what? house coat / dress coat to "model".

Well, the game may be meaningless to TDT, but maybe he is hoping to see some underclassmen get a few snaps, see what the future holds. Or he just wants to harass Veek at the tailgate and while sitting next to him at the game. :)

Maniac,

I am not familiar with the QB from Wayzata, but you certainly may be 100% correct. I have more faith in your journalistic background/fact checking abilities than most who have internet based H.S./ D3 blogs or columns  ;)

Point #2 about the PAT in OT- that is exactly what I thought when I saw it on the morning news while gettng ready for work today!
Here's the ESPN piece on Sasha.   Video of the failed conversion.  Video from Wayzata's previous game, a 1 point win over Minnetonka with a successfully executed conversion for the win.

Also my cousin, "G.O." showcasing more controversial special teams play.

Go Trojans!

Wow have things changed around here, all of a sudden Eden Prairie football, Wayzata football, Sasha Doran, Flyover Country, bathroom remodeling, house coat vs. dress coat, Mitch Omer, the Stewart brothers, a missed extra point, and umbrellas have become more relevant than Johneiees footballs.  What did I miss?  I hope V(D)OJ can get me up to speed.

Great story. I'll definitely be cheering for him this postseason!

Here's what Sid said during the press conference (with a lot of emotion):

Nobody's been a bigger supporter of your guys than myself.  I was wrong in this.  I didn't think the University of Minnesota would do a stupid thing like this, fire the guy in the middle of the season.  But you look back at your game on Saturday, Tinsley's running for a touchdown and he winds up in a touchback, you have a bad pass from center, that winds up in a touchdown.  Bennett scores a touchdown, and somebody's offsides.  Brewster made all those mistakes?  Unfortunately, he's the coach and he gets fired.

Sid continued this rant on his show this morning (740 am version). He also said "No [coach] will succeed at the U; wanna know why? I'll tell you why.  Their GPA is too high. You cant have a high GPA and win at footblall."

(yes, I know he mostly likely meant their minimum GPA to be eligible, but it sounds like Sid believes the only good football palyer is a dumb one, which explains his distain for D-III where football players and all other athletes are students first and many have quite high GPAs)

Sid sounds like quite a bonehead.  I'd be willing to spot Minnesota 3 TDs and still take Stanford - does he think UM's entry GPA is higher than Stanford's?!

(For that matter, is Minnesota's entry GPA higher than other Big Ten schools?  Maybe a couple, but I'm willing to bet it is lower than Michigan or Northwestern, to name just two.)

Minnesota: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that league (NFL) sources say Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is interested in the head coaching job at the University of Minnesota.

Interested in a head coaching job...Not with the gophers.

-I'll be in Collegeville on Saturday.  I said the games are meaningless (and they are with the exception of parents, players, & coaches), but I did NOT say I would stop attending the games.  It is Family Weekend in Collegeville.  I predict the attendance will be much less than recent years.  Maybe 6000...
Yes, the SJU games are now meaningless except to parents, coaches and players; sorta like youth soccer I guess.  But why, then, would 6,000 people show up to watch?  Why do people in DC, Oregon and Australia take time to listen to the game on the internet?

For the life of me, I can't fathom why you plan to be in Collegeville on Saturday to watch a meaningless game.  The weather now looks like rain according to the most recent forecasts.  I think you'd enjoy the game in St. Paul a lot more.

Just to spite you Clark.

Okay, show up and prove my point.

BEER O'CLOCK!  Now if I only had some Loverboy on the iPod today it would be perfect.

I'm picking the J's to kick the Gusties from one end of the field to the other on Saturday.  34-10, Johnnies.

On a related note, I'm looking for a way to stream the Johnnie RealAudio through iTunes.  Anyone cracked that chestnut yet?

The Johnnies had a bye last week so there's nothing to talk about on that front, and with Wonka's departure, there's really no Johnnie/Gustie banter to enjoy.  FWIW, I can't imagine the Gusties keeping it too close this weekend.  If they do, there is definitely something wrong in Collegeville.

With the MIAC title to be decided tomorrow at St. Thomas, where is all the Bethel vs. Tommie banter on this board?

This is where you all are supposed to do a little smack talking.....I know you have it in ya' (at least during Johnnie week) so let's hear it! :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Johnnie Red

Last evening on Sports to the Max, WCCO, coach Caruso was interviewed about the UST-Bethel game tomorrow. He was very complimentary of the schools in the MIAC. The reporter who was standing in for Mike Max mentioned that he will be in Collegeville tomorrow for the Johnnie-Gustie game. Gustie fans, you are invited to attend the Stiftungsfestivities tomorrow in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field. Bring a culinary delight to share if you like. The tailgate party is usually going by 10:00 a.m. Hopefully the rain will stay away.

tommiegun

Rain and wind in the forecast... Will it be a purple rain? I think not.  Poor weather does not bode well for the more talented team.  I am more nervous about this one than St. John's.  I see a Bethel Bible Bubble rambling wreck style upset (say that 5 times fast).  Bethel pounds away at the suspect Tommie interior in the muck of the black crumbled tires and comes away with a 20-14 victory.
