Like always, I'll question why I'm writing on here, Well, I'm sure I'll wish I didn't post, but the Viking don't play for another 3 hours, so what the heck.....

Like always? You've got 4 flippin' posts!  ;D

Life Long Tommie,

A bit of advice, pay no mind to the comments about lack of posts, attendance, etc. Clearly, the Tommie's success is a bitter pill for some of the John fans to swallow (pun intended) and they're left to try and take shots at the new board posters, their lack of posts and play the attendance card. This board has been a Johnnie smoke fest for sometime and it's apparent they're not to enthusiastic to share. I take pleasure in it all, just reaffirms the Toms arrival! ;D

Thx DoubleO – Not only do I share your assessment but your right on in it's content.

It's been a Johnnie "smoke fest" for sometime because Tommie fans are the weakest coffee in the whole d*mned shop.  We have regular Cobbers, Auggies, Royals and even some Pipers, Oles and a GACer.  But the Tommies don't come out until something big happens, like a player managing to tie both his left AND right shoes without help.  And as soon as the glory fades, so do the fans.

So the Tommie team?  Have fun.  Go crazy.  The fans?  You all still suck.  Maybe it's genetic.

#22 has has better passing stats than the #17 kid, and he's played in all 8 games this year.

He is not a better quarterback, by any stretch.

#37 is a better back (all around) and probably should have been playing more anyways!

Worked out that way on Saturday. It isn't always the case.

Third, if your going to use the "game day injuries" as a point of interest, what about when BU played SJU; ...

The complaint was about our coverage of this week's games, not that game.

Like always, I'll question why I'm writing on here, but I'd like to make a few comments related to BU/UST game.

First, without question, #5 for BU is a very, very special player!  I think it's been some 3+ years now that I suggested that he'd attend BU and he's less than 200 yards from breaking the all time rushing record in the MIAC!  (which has been held by 3 previous BU players!).

Second, I think the injury comments related to UST should be re-visited.  I've seen UST play now 2 times in person and if you haven't noticed, they have over 140 guys on the sideline, in which I'm sure 20-30 of them would either be starting or playing a significant role on another MIAC team.  I could be wrong, but I'm sure the coaching staff at UST would agree with me.  #22 has has better passing stats than the #17 kid, and he's played in all 8 games this year.  #37 is a better back (all around) and probably should have been playing more anyways!

Third, if your going to use the "game day injuries" as a point of interest, what about when BU played SJU;
#5 goes down in the 1st Qrt w/a injury, doesn't return.  For the most part, what makes BU goes is #5, but, they replace him with 2 freshman (#32, BU's second best back was at a funeral) and came away with a big win vs. SJU.

Just something to think about??  I do think UST is an outstanding football team.  They have quality players at every position and in many, outstanding back ups.  They will be a team to reckon w/over the next several years.  The campus is second to none in the MIAC and I truly believe they are developing quality young men and women.

Well, I'm sure I'll wish I didn't post, but the Viking don't play for another 3 hours, so what the heck.....

The last 3 leader were all Bethelites?  that will be news to Jake Barkley (who held the record prior to Porta) and Gary Trettle (who held it from 1990 till Barkely broke it)...they both think they went to St. Thomas!  (those records are courtesy of the MIAC offical record book). I sincerely doubt the record holder prior to Trettle was from Bethel....pre-1987, BC football wasnt exactly a ball of fire.

Also by my calculations, Flannery, who is one hell of a RB, has 3,143 yards rushing in MIAC games only counting thru 10/23/10. He has 4,292 total career yards.  Porta's record of 4,400 in MIAC GAMES ONLY is pretty safe, considering Logan has just 2 games to go....unless he can rack up 1258 yards in two games. Porta's overall record of 5,235 yards looks pretty safe too, unless Bethel can make a very deep run in NCAAs and #5 averages around 200 yards per game the rest of the way.

He is a great young man, and a very classy person, humble and modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I've not noticed a real big increase in Tommie postings in the past 6 weeks but tell me out there, has anyone but I noticed a significant Johnnie posting exodus in the past 3 weeks? Wonder what the reason for that is? Speak for your own Johnnie Boy!

I haven't noticed any exodus.

I have Flannery at 3334 MIAC career rush yds.

Bethel actually has 3 MIAC games left. Still far short of a realistic shot at Porta.

Considering how good Flannery has looked in his career, it helps give perspective on just how good Phil really was. For those who didn't ever see him, he was ridiculous...and incredibly humble.

In Scrubby's defense, UST had an article on their website touting both Flannery and Wartman being within striking distance of the all-time MIAC career rushing record. They listed Logan something like 296 yds short or something. I'm guessing they calculated both guys career numbers and didn't realize they were including non-conference games in their totals.

One would have to follow the board regularly in order to notice that a natural ebb and flow was just that. If you don't know the norm, how would you know what is outside the norm?

One reason why a perceived "exodus" might be perceived, is that last week was a bye week for the Johnnies. There were still some postings about SJU, as well as the other regular folderol about hockey, beer, fishing, et. al. But then, that's just MY opinion.

MIAC Profile of Excellence: SJU's John Stanton and his 'Three Fs'

Jeez, Fins beats me to the punch by 64 seconds.  A very nice photo of the Stanton family (less number 1 son) was a late addition to the article.

I read the headline and said to Mrs. Tmerton that that explains why SJU wouldn't send us his transcript. 8-)

Veek

Just returned from a weekend up north with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.

I would have loved to be at SJU as there is no game that is ever meaningless to me.

Maniac - congrats on your excellent article about John Stanton.  He is an outstanding young man, both on and off of the field.

Congrats to Clark and Noel for raising such a well-rounded man.  You must be very proud and both of you have every right to be.  It is stories like this that make Division III so great.

GO JOHNNIES!!!
Go Johnnies!!!

Paid attendance vs actual attendance...

Always good to see my buddy VOJ after the game in the press box.  He had some smart ass remarks for me!

Oh and I believe Clark was ducking me at the tailgate.  I'm sure Finsleft and DustySJU can attest to this.

I saw you and had no interest in taking the effort to walk over to speak with you.  Is that "ducking" you?  It's always all about you, isn't it?

I'm curious about this exodus as well. Somehow there were still eight pages of in-game update posts during yesterday's games, most of which centered around a game between a pair of .500 teams. Yep, Johnnie fans headed for the hills.

I do wonder, though, if the Tommies next year are 3-3 through six games, how many Tommie posters will there be? Bench. And...

I would say the last two weeks were light, but normal for a bye week and the Gustavus game for SJU.
