I would submit there is 0% chance of a D1 head coaching position, even a 0% chance at a D1 coordinator position.  At the D1 level the best he could hope would be a position coach and I dare say this is true at the D1AA level as well.  To my earlier point, what kind of opportunity really exist, and does, as noted he really want to move his family all around.

Very, very few hit the lottery like Chris Meidt and even he must be asking himself if it was worth it.  One of the biggest challenges in life/career is to know when you are (or aren't) at the right address.

Um...he was the O coordinator for USD (same FCS school that recently beat the Goofs) when they averaged over 500 yards of offense a game. I think the chance of him getting at least coordinator job at the FCS level is ALOT better than you think. He was also a coach at NDSU during multiple playoff runs including the national semifinals. Not to mention he's coached multiple NFL players and Harlon Hill finalists. So saying he has a 0% chance of a coordinator position at the FBS level AND the FCS level is pretty ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure Bench has a man crush on Caruso.  ;D

At least my man crush isn't geriatric in nature.  :D

All I'm saying is it's pretty funny that AlmostEx thinks a guy that has already had a hand in laying the offensive foundation at two soon-to-be FCS programs has no chance at an FCS job.

Impressive resume.  I didn't realize he was so successful at so many schools.  More reason to despise UST...  :)

Man, he sure does seem to move around a lot though, doesn't he?

Reasons to despise UST:

1) Lack of bars within walking distance.
2) Lack of parking
3) Lots of people from Minnetonka, Eden Prarie and Edina
4) The audacity to ask someone in their 20s to donate $

But I assume SJU has similar problems. Caruso draws a lot of ire from non UST people for strange reasons. Leaving a school for a head coaching job and more money does not make someone sleazy. It's the nature of coaching. I've heard the Toledo rumor, and it wouldn't shock me if he left. But I wouldn't be shocked if he stayed either. Campus loves him, he's built a winner, has new facilities with (I assume) more upgrades to come. Reality is Caruso has 11 years of recruiting connections in Minnesota and some name recognition.

Hate on Caruso all you want but the fact is he inherited a program off their worst season ever which included a loss to Hamline, and turned them into a National Quarterfinalist...in two years. Far from the sleazey guy people would like to make him out to be.

I'm new to the boards this year but I intend to keep posting even though my Auggies are now 3-5.  When they start competing with the big boys of the MIAC nobody will be able say I'm coming out of the woodwork or jumping on the bandwagon.  Go Auggies!!!!   ;D

AO

It seems to me that if someone has $60M to tear down an older but still functional athletic facility and build a new one in its place, someone might have enough money to donate to keep a highly successful coach at their school.  The former south dakota head coach who left for FBS Kent State this season did so for a raise from $126,000/yr to $225,000/yr.

Deal.  You may need to remind me of my commitment, however, as I am likely to develop Alzheimer's before I'm asked to make good.  :o

Time for a commercial break?  These tickle my funny bone.  As far as I can tell, this is for Panda brand cream cheese spread and they're from Spain.

Never Say No to Panda (or something like that)

Can't fault Caruso too much for leaving, but it'd be nice to see him build up some equity/sustained success; Jim Tressel at Youngstown St. style and go for the job he WANTS. Not just the first FCS/lower tier FBS opening that becomes available.

It'd be great to see if ANYONE can bust up that UWW/Mt. Union championship; and I think UST is as poised to do it as anyone IF they can have a consistent leader/formula over the next 4 or 5 years.

Having seen both teams play (UW-RF vs UST, and UWW vs EC) I honestly don't think UST would do well.  Their defense is good I will give them that, but against UWW run game i don't think they would last.  The offense wouldn't be able to get much done.  I think the RB Wartman is big but the backup 37 I think is a better back overall and would actually make UST a better team.  The guy just seemed more explosive.  The game just seems to be more physical in the WIAC, which is why I think UST would struggle.

Any Ray Grant updates from the weekend???

DuffMan, you and I remain tied with Ray Grant 2010 number of receptions.

Even though ROR has lost a step to "old man time" he's still one heck of a route runner  ;)

Is this guy supposed to be a great reciever in the conference?

We don't like anyone unless they stick around for at least 60 years....
