Ifs and buts...

And I still don't think he would have touched Porta's 4,400 MIAC only yds, much less his 5,500 career total.

But he sounds like a great young man. Props to him on being the consumate student-athlete.

You beer geeks should appreciate what I got my hands on this afternoon.

Congrats to Ben Wartman. Special nod to Jeff Gilbertson, who not only is a fellow Johnnie, but also a fellow (Winona Cotter) Rambler, as am I.

Thanks Almost Ex for setting Bench straight on Lacrosse. One of my sons played while we lived in VA. It is hockey on grass, and a great participant and spectator sport.

Johnnie Red

Coming to you live from a coffee shop in downtown Northfield. Can't believe how many people are in this place and how many of them are in running gear. Looks like a nice day for football and the Johnnie-Knights game at Carleton.

Saw former Johnnie player Matt Nelson yesterday at the Roy Wilkens Center in St. Paul for the swearing in program for admission to the Minnesota bar. My son was also admitted. Very nice ceremony for the new attorneys in the state. Now if only the job market would improve. :(

Congrats to Ben Wartman and his family. Very nice honor. :)

That is the holy grail of Surly!  I have been looking for it up here, but alas, no luck.

The Darkness is indeed a find.  Go Tommies! And, unfortunately, since I'll be there, Go Gophers!

retangent,

I got the basic point regarding where east coast athletes may focus, but I thought it ironic that a UST alumni call east cost college lacrosse players "cake eaters!"  A whole thread could be started on this topic.

Lacrosse is possibly one of the greatest highschool/college sports ever.  College football will always be #1 for me, but lacrosse is #1.5 as a spectator; that from the parent of three high school lacrosse players.

The beer may be good, but the owner is a joke and I don't mean the laugh, ha ha variety!  Yep, this would be a topic not unlike MIAC officials for me.

I've got a local specialty shop.  I got on a list for a bottle.  For the price, it had better be pretty unbelievable.  Have you tried Surly Wet yet?  It's pretty good.  Furious is better in my mind, but Wet is still good.

You've got a problem with Omar?  Other than being a Macalaster guy, he seems decent enough.

hazzben, plug your ears.  Just returned from the Carleton game and the same Officiating crew (or at least most) were there from the Concordia – SJU tilt.  They have improved some over the intervening weeks, but I still think they stink.  Do they give physical fitness tests to the guys?  Maybe just some basics.  Can you touch your toes?  Can you do the 40 in 20 seconds or less?  Is that too much to ask?

AlmostEx

Yep, and I can think of several dozen beers that I would rather drink.  I feel they same way about him as I do MIAC officials!
