In the "for what it's worth" department, if I have to cheer on anything purple I give the nod to Whitewater to win it all, with Linfield taking it in the west.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

However, out of respect due to Benedictine we'll be focusing on them this week.

Unless you're a UST coach or team member, you can focus all you want, and it won't make a lick of difference!

What do you mean it won't make a difference?  I just got off the phone with Brett to talk game plan vs. the cheeseheads.  I ran some scenarios in Madden I thought he might be interested in.  Funny thing is they all ended with Favre having 3+ ints.

It better matter because I still have dreams of a Super Bow...playoff appeara.....3rd place fin...1st overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft!  ;D

Just can't wait for the start of the Jake Locker era in Minnesota.  ::)
Rather would have Andrew Luck out of Stanford.

The education bubble...  Over 100 colleges and universities are charging $50k a year in 2010.  The return on that investment is getting mighty meager.  I think I may encourage some of my kids to take up a trade.  They may not have the highest social standing, but the pay is remarkably good and compared to the cost of qualification the return is astronomical.

The only MIAC school I saw on the list was Carleton, but there were quite a few DIII schools that I recognized on it.  This trend, of course, will be the death of DIII football.  Who can afford to pay $50k for the privilege of playing ten or so games?
Carleton would be a poor example of an expensive school for someone without the means to pay for it.  Carleton has a large enough endowment to cover the whole cost for students in greatest need.  http://apps.carleton.edu/admissions/afford/

Since I thought your statement was completely ridiculous, I thought I'd see what another university does for "greatest need" students.  Using Stanford's calculator and plugging in some lower family income numbers the estimated "grant/scholarship" comes out to a total of $50,050 on a total tuition of $54,900. http://www.stanford.edu/dept/finaid/undergrad/how/calculator/input.html

Moral of the story.  Don't be ridiculous, a lot of colleges/universities offer these programs, but they are very difficult to actually receive.  A middle income family will qualify for a small fraction of the grant amount.

Stanford may not be as generous as Carleton then.  Check out Carleton's actual aid awarded here.  They gave out 27  full scholarships (there is a small loan of $1300) to incoming freshmen.  Then next 35 neediest got an average of $47000 in aid.  Certainly the middle income families are still paying quite a bit, but it's not anywhere near the full 50000, and getting a degree from Carleton is going to be a whole lot more valuable than something from devry or mctc.

My argument concerning tuition and fees is twofold.  One, that from a return on investment view, there may be smarter ways to build personal market value.  And two, DIII football (and the student-athlete in general, I guess) will be really hurt by this inflation.

I reckon both of those points are pretty valid, regardless of student aid levels.

And I don't know if anyone conratulated the all-conquering finsleft here for his pick 'em demolition job on the MIAC faithful.  Congrats, fins.

Another story on the 3 F's - this one about Todd Fultz and with a video worth watching.

I HIGHLY recommend watching this.  Todd is truly an inspiration.  Anyone else planning on attending the book signing in Stillwater this Sunday?

Thank you Oz. Guess I wouldn't have needed that point you spotted me after all. Thanks to AO for putting it all together. I'm going to take my winnings out to Vegas, head to the roulette table and put half on red and half on black and let it ride.

Great photo (if I say so myself  ;D ) of the greatest Number 2s in SJU football history.

The Minnesota State Patrol is cracking down on speeders heading in Mpls. For the first offense, they give you 2 Vikings tickets. If you are stopped a second time, they make sure you use them.

What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl? The Minnesota Vikings.

What do the Vikings and Billy Graham have in common? They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ."

How do you keep a Minnesota Viking out of your yard? Put up a goal post.

What do you call a Minnesota Viking with a Super Bowl ring? An imposter.

What's the difference between the Minnesota Viking and a dollar bill? You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

How many Minnesota Vikings does it take to win a Super Bowl? Nobody knows.

What do the Vikings and a possum have in common? Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Johnnie Red, too bad you're not in Hennepin County.  I'm sure you'd enjoy having Adrian Peterson in your courtroom.

A tip of the hat from this coast, fins.

As a bridesmaid again, I was going to say I should be spotted 1 extra point for each 100 miles from 56321 (the place and not the poster), but then realized it might make Oz .....er, competitive. ;)
