Oh... cut to the core.  Wounded.

JJR - bringing out the big funnies.  The Vikes have gone beyond humor for me and are at tragedy.  Lose again this weekend and I'll be back to humor... gallows humor.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Busy, exciting weekend to be a Tommie fan. Of course, Saturday's football game is the highlight of the weekend, but the volleyball team is in St. Louis, playing in the Final 8 and the men's hoopsters are in Seattle, playing in a tourney at Puget Sound. After their solid win over D-II Concordia-St Paul the other night, the hopes are high for a strong national showing in hoops as well.

I plan to be at O'Shaughnessy Stadium Saturday. The latest forecast is a dreary day, weather-wise, and an even gloomier day for the Benedictines. With the rest from a bye last week, several of UST's key offensive players have had time to recouperate from nagging injuries.  Should be a good start to what is hopefully a long, deep playoff run.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Pics like this just increase my loathing for domes and retractable roofs. If there was ever a sport that was meant to be played in the elements, it was football.

Miacmaniac, speaking of solid wins, what about the Johnnies' win over St. Cloud State, ranked #8 in Division II, in hoops last Monday night?

JJR- Absolutely, a solid win. The MIAC is 2-0 vs. the NSIC, which is supposedly a better product since its D-II and has scholarships (dripping with sarcasm).

The John's get a big test @ UW-SP, the defending national champ, who plays at UST right before Christmas as well.

So today we may find out the future of football at SCSU. It would be a tragedy if they fold, but a possible recruiting bonanza for SJU among others. All the talk about folding the program has to kill SCSU on the HS recruiting trail, and if they do shut down there's a lot of players who will look elsewhere

Yeah, how 'bout those MIACers.  Too bad, however, that there won't be any more titanic clashes in the Shoe.  That was a venue.

Gun- the New Shoe is a glorious upgrade...and they transported the curses from the old that kept Hamline & SMU from ever winning in the building and making USJ utterly flumoxed by the facility(I think its been 10-15 yrs since the Johns notched a win at UST).  The old entrance doors from O'Shag are in the new building, too. Check it out!

Great photo (if I say so myself  ;D ) of the greatest Number 2s in SJU football history.

maniac- Yeah, the new Arena is beautiful (I've heard) and the complex itself looks awesome.  Its just nostalgia, probably.  I just love those old dingy gyms with the crappy wooden bleachers.  There's just something so Americana and unique about them.  The only thing better is a HS gym on a stage.

Speaking of old dingy gyms with the crappy wooden bleachers, I sure there are a few of us on this board that remember the days of Rat Hall at St. John's. Great place to watch college basketball. Just another wonderful memory of being a student at SJU.

LOL.  Those were great.  Although Sartell's got quite a nice gym, I think I actually preferred wrestling on a stage gym.

A tradition unrivaled...

For those of you looking for something very unique to do, consider attending the Hairball concert on Friday evening, November 26 at the Lake Waconia Event Center in Waconia. This band rocks!!

Lived about 15 seconds away from Rat Hall senior year, was over there every night for pickup games. Great shooter's gym.

My uncle played ball for Hamline in the '70s. I guess they had a scoreboard that was obstructed so the Hamline bench couldn't see it. St. John's led at the time. The Hamline coach asked the ref what the score was and the ref replied, "We're up seven, coach."

It's nice to see Augsburg getting some attention for something other than getting beat by 30 points.  ;)
