How about a rugger. When I was at SJU, it went the other way. The kicker on the football team (also an O Lineman) played rugby.

We also had some football guys that played rugby in the spring at BU, but I don't think you'd get any of the rugby guys to kick for football as the main rugby season is in the fall, with games on saturdays.

At the risk of inviting -K here this is my take on Saturdays Game between The Tommies & Royals, Short & Sweet!

Both teams have an equal footing on Offense & Defense for the 1st Line-Starters. Both Defense's are rock solid. The Offense for each is very good with each having different strengths. However, the quality of the Tommies Backups/Depth goes so much deeper, that plus the kicking game will be the difference maker in this rematch.

Tommies - 28
Royals    - 12

No negative K from me...I think the game could go either way, but I really don't see UST putting up 28 points.

I think that the final score will end w/ both teams under 20.

Have to agree w/ you about the depth though.  BU doesn't go very far into the bench w/ out a drop in quality, especially on the offensive side.  However, they haven't had any real issues with it so far. (outside of the kicking game)

LLT,

Are you really concerned about the -k? I've never really paid any attention to it.

I don't see the Toms hanging 28 on Bethel's defense either. Would love to see it, but don't think it's going to happen.

Started with +6 and in less time it takes to sweep dirt under th rug down to +5... LOL ::)

So you are saying all things are relatively equal aside from the backups/depth/kicking.  Do you really think those backups/depth/kicking will add 16 points to the Tommies total score?

USTd scored 10 against Bethel in the last meeting. What leads you to conclude they will score 28 this time around?

Tommie Becker, Dakota Tracy & Ben Wartman are all at 100%, if that's not enough lemme know...

That's not enough. All three of those guys played in the last game.

Ben Wartman- 8 carries for 26 yards...ineffective

Dakota Tracy- 8-25 with 2 int and 122 yards...ineffective

Tommie Becker- 10.5 tackles, int...effective however you would expect that many tackles from a LB when the other teams rushes 45 times. I should add that Bethel averaged 5.4 yards a carry...

So those are the guys that make you think USTd is capable of putting up 28 points?

Freebird;

You're convincing me that we may have a heck of a game on this weekend.  I may have to get up and listen over the interwebs a bit to follow the fun.

I think the operative word there was "100%"; no one is saying they didn't play in the last game.

Tracy was perfectly healthy until the last couple of series, when they needed Morse to come in and run the clock out. Honestly, I think they missed Chad Vandergriff more that game and he left early on. Vandergriff played Saturday against Linfield but got hurt again.

Respectfully dissagree, neither of the 3 were 100%. Period...

Were Wartman and Becker hurt? Beckers numbers suggest he was in good health and Tobin proved to be a more effective runner than Wartman.

USTd scored 10 points, gained 253 yards, and only held the ball for 24:36. I think the rematch is going to be another tight game and could go either way. No disrespect to the Tommies but I don't see how they are going to put 28 points on the board or win by two touchdowns. It very well could happen just like Bethel very well could win by 19 or 23 points but using the information we have I don't think offering up "Tommie Becker, Dakota Tracy & Ben Wartman at 100%" is a very sound argument.
