As a player, I enjoyed the few experiences I had to play a night game in college.  It's nice to have that change once or twice a year.  I wouldn't want it to be an every week thing though.  Can't take away the weekends.  :)

I think I only played one night game in college--at UW-Eau Claire (and one vs. Concordia in the FargoDome, I guess).  I was glad the UW-EC game was at night, but only because it was hotter than hell, and a mid-day game would have been brutal.  Aside from that, I really enjoyed afternoon games, especially when the weather turned cold.  We played Coe in 2002 in sub-zero windchills.  I can't imagine if we would have played that game after sundown.

A tradition unrivaled...

I am offended by your use of the word hell.

In Johnnie news:

St. John's to install lights at Clemens Stadium.

Sorry if I offended anyone with this post  ::)

Clemens Stadium now a wonderfullyscenic spot for Friday night  high school football playoff games.      Maybe even the occasional high school  nonconference game.

   Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting ....

Great move by SJU.     Now let's get an indoor hockey rink on campus.

Not sure what League policy is, but we played a conference night game at Augsburg my freshman year and played a night game at St. Paul Central when Hamline was playing there my Senior year while their new facility was being built.

Where are they putting the lights? Between the track and the bleachers or behind the bleachers entirely?

I'll be heading over to UST tomorrow, cheering for Bethel to take down the Tommies.

The Johnnies played a night game against Augsburg in 1998. That was the year after Augsburg beat SJU for the only time and might have been a favorite entering the 1998 game. St. John's won a close one and went on to an undefeated regular season.

Swing and a miss!

Please clarify as to which swing were you referring as a miss?

Anyone get a smile from those clips where celebrities sing to demonstrate their greater caring than us little people?  How about celebrities lip sinking other celebrities demonstrating their greater caring than us little people to the Most Caringnest Celebrity Song Every Written(c)?

I only played in two night games, both of them against Wartburg I believe. They were a ton of fun, and they gave a great atmosphere to the game.

Beating Wartburg on the last play of the game in overtime helped too  ;D

I love to see D3 getting press but is Dakota Tracy the best example? Last I checked he was the 7th rated passer in the MIAC  ::)

St. Thomas did a ton of legwork to do the research for the story, which we ran and NCAA.com ran a couple weeks ago. Looks like local writer picked it up and pitched it at the NYT. St. Thomas wasn't going to do all this work and then feature Bethel, right?
