Condolences to TDT on the Tommies' loss; sorry you have to put your purple wardrobe away for the season, though you can still be a front-runner for their hockey team if you like.  They're pretty good.

Ha!!  :D

But lets be real. TDT hasn't been on here in forever and chirps in this afternoon congratulating Mt. Union on their victory next Saturday. He's still got his purple garb out, its just switched from the Tommie bandwagon to the Mt. Union version. Should Bethel pull off the upset, he'll just jump to the UWW wagon (provided they beat Wesley).

Kinda thought he'd come up for the game, but then realized his mom's coat probably isn't made for the kind of cold we had today  ;D :o

Life Long Tommie

Congratulations to the Tommies for a season to remember. This'll hurt for a while but in listening to comments by  the seniors after the game it is obvious they have matured into a group of outstanding young men that'll serve the community with Pride & Dignity for the remainder of their lives. Life Long Friends, experiences that cannot be forgotten and a link to the UST community that will live forever.

Thanks for the Excitement & a Great Season Tommie Football.
Goooooo Tommies Goooooo

during the last 40 minutes of the game, it appeared that the field was tilted in the royal's direction.  total line of scrimmage dominance!  congratulations to the royals!   good luck next week against mount union.
awesome season for the toms.  now they can beat everyone up in hoops.

L. Beane,
Nice cameo on the Channel 9 news.

When the reporter asked you about the weather conditions, I was disappointed that you didn't throw out the favorite quote from Fins,
"there is no such thing as bad weather,in the era of hybrid fabric, there are simply poor wardrobe choices"  :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

@Pat, KMack, et. al:

You're first words on the final four have nice coverage on 3 teams and simply this about Bethel:

"Mount Union will stay home for the national semifinals because Bethel upended MIAC rival St. Thomas 12-7. The Royals got a 1-yard touchdown run from Logan Flannery and Justin Aakre capped a 95-yard drive for the second as Bethel again survived its utter lack of a kicking game."

Really  ??? Only 4 games to cover today, and that's all you've got, 2.5 sentences, one of which ends in total dig. Thanks fellas, no really, we appreciate it.  ::) :P You guys usually do a phenomenal job, but this is pretty bad....

Here' to hoping everyone will continue to overlook Bethel. It's worked well for us the last 3 weeks on the road.

That's all we had to go on at the time. Gordon was at one game, I was at one game, Keith was at home. We added more when the game story came in. We can't just make stuff up, right?

Amazing what a single sentence can do:

"Flannery came up with the afternoon of a lifetime, rushing for 200 yards on 38 carries in the win."

Thanks Pat, I feel much better now. Hope my complaint didn't come across as too whiny!  :) (of course, you may have not even read my complaint yet, guess I'm assuming the update was in response to me  :-\)

Yeah, that's a huge assumption. On the road, covering football in the afternoon and basketball in the evening, only the St. Thomas release and Bethel Twitter updates to work from, I'm TOTALLY coming to the message board first.

Early line from the OAC- Bethel +20.5. I'm not sure how this game is within 30 points. Who will cover Shorts and prevent him from catching at least 2 tds? I hope Bethel can give Mount a game.

Congratulations to St Thomas for a fantastic season and thank you representing the MIAC and the West so incredibly well! The MIAC now has 5 wins in this years playoffs which must be close to a conference record right? SJU won 5 playoff games on their magically run in '03 but aside from that has it happened before? Just a thought and I could be way off. Maybe a more knowledgable person can weigh in on this. (which is most any other poster out there)  :)

Very classy posts by the UST faithful. I hope this rivalry continues to build because it is great having you guys around to add to the debate and banter!

So far the Bethel lines from the odds makers over at the OAC board have been

Bethel -2.5 at Wartburg

Bethel +3.5 at Wheaton

Bethel +8.5 at UST

And now Bethel is a +22.5(updated) at Mount Union

Most people will probably be taking Mount but for someone needing to make up some ground would be wise to consider Bethel and the points

A note of protest to the St Thomas broadcasters who portrayed Mount Union as the OSU dropout school. Not aware of ANY OSU transfers on the squad and in fact it is probably 50-1 going the other way, with kids not being able to make academically and leaving for the warm and fuzzy world of the state system. Despite the view from St Paul, Mount Union graduates are highly sought after in Northeast Ohio.

Again--I invite all Bethel fans that make the trip to join a group of the UMU faithful-including HSCoach, Skunks Sidekick, Skunk, Theaprof, Mtfan, Hurfmuc, Seventiesraider, etc. starting at 8:00 pm Friday at Wing Warehouse--about 1.5 miles west of the football stadium on State Street.  It is very near the Alliance hotels--good wings, wide selection of beverages--including lots of non-alcoholic ones for those of you who choose not to imbibe.

We are a friendly crew and would love to get to know some of you.  PM me for more information.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

HScoach's adjustment of the line was just enough to make me switch (at 20.5 I had UMU).  My worry is whether Bethel can do ANYTHING about Shorts.  My personal line was 21; if you can hold Shorts to at most 2 TDs, I like my chances.  If Cecil runs rampant for 3 or 4 TDs, it could get ugly.

Interestingly, Cecil was the backup QB four years ago and ran for a 28 yard td in the 4th quarter.

Heck, I had to come over here to get invited to the Friday night out. But, for sure, D3Football,com has made it easier for us to meet folks from the opposing teams and that has made th e D3 experience that much better.

While the UMU fans fatten up Hansel and Bethel for their Saturday feast I want to harken back to the UST loss and give out a big WELL, NO WONDER if Wartman and (there may not be an I in team, but there is in Fritz) Waldvogel were not in there for Caruso.

Damn.   they edited out the best part.   Having no purple, gold or blue on,    FOX9 reporter asks me who I'm rooting for to which I replied, " Go Johnnies!"
