I want to extend my congratulations to Bethel and wish them luck in Alliance this weekend-keep on representing. I could not have been more impressed with your play on the interior, Flannery's toughness or the play of the secondary. The better team won on Saturday. You guys absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage. Go put it to UMU!

No justification. None needed. I, personally, loved going to St. John's for a baseball game on SJU keg/case day and warming up in right field where we were targeted by many a (always empty) beer can launched from atop the soccer benches.

Its a D3 football stadium with a capacity for like 200 people behind the visitors bench.  If your coaches and players can't cope or thrive off a minuscule amount of noise or some idiot talking trash, that is just pathetic.  I mean, I know the Johnnies suck and all, but I always thought our hated rivals were at least not thin skinned, uber politically correct, crybabies.

That's weak Tommiegun. Are you actually going to stick up for that fact that your school doesn't provide seating for it's visitors behind their teams sidelines and instead sells them off as "VIP" for alum? That is total bush league. I'm sorry someone tossed a beer can at you. They probably just wanted to play catch with you since you were likely standing alone out there. Don't be such a crybaby  :'(

But with Kill coming there you will have at least 20-right?
One has to wonder about the AD at UST(d) or whoever approved the seating situation-worried that your team is not good enough to win on its own, but win by distracting the opposing players and coaches. (As an aside, wasn't that the Rats own trick-ROR?-but then they were students, not high priced doctors, lawyers or accountants). And, what are they going to do with those seats come next year or the year after when the Toms are back to middle of the pack team?

At least 20.   :-[

I would say that the Rat's game of distraction was more applicable to basketball.  In a gym and with only 10 players it was a lot easier to be noticed by the opposition.  Especially when we were on the end of the gym where the visitor bench was located.  Unfortunately, it seems the Rat's are currently non-existent at SJU hoops games.

tommiegun,

Our players and coaches will be just fine.

I think it's tacky.  It is 180 degrees from the way SJU, as an institution, treats visitors.

p.s.  Good thing the beer cans were empty.  Aim might have been a little better otherwise.  ;)

I certainly would have been MORE distracted if they would have been full.  I mean it's BEER.   ;D

No more at the hoops?  Bummer.  The most impressive Rat cheer I saw was at the hoops as they did a 'Rogaine' chant for a balding Tommie.  They had made a big sign with the Rogaine logo showing that a little planning had gone into the taunt.  Importantly, they did it from the end of the court as opposed to behind the visitor's bench and with no (visible) beer cans present.

I didn't think it was distracting during the Linfield game (was on the 'Cats sideline the whole time).  In fact, it was mostly funny and entertaining due to poor attemts to talk trash by the adult UST fans.  They were pretty limited in their creativity.  It was mostly "Bet it's not this cold in Or-e-gone!"  "Hey number one...you suck"  or the timeless "Go Back To Or-e-gone".

If you get rattle by those gems then you are just a mental midget.   I didn't hear any cussing or MF'ing or anything out of line.  Just cheering hard and giving the road team some hell.  In fact, I thought it created a more exciting environment than some places I've been where everyone sits on the same side and there is nothing happening on the visitor's side.

It's probably different when SJU or Bethel is there than Linfield as I know it's a little different when Willamette comes to the 'Catdome.

Oooh, scarred for life it seems.  Poor baby.  Well, make big money and earn your way into the Tommies' new luxury suite seats and you can get back at your hated rival.

Next.

Fellas check out the column written by Frank the Tank today...the line from Coach Johnson about the Tommies getting coverage for blowing their nose is priceless.

http://www.sctimes.com/article/20101207/SPORTS/112070034/1002/Rajkowski-column--Johnson--Bethel-are-still-standing

Lets talk about the injuries...the fall off from Wartman to Tobin is minor and Waldvogel's performance against really good teams in the MIAC (SJU and Bethel) has really been negligible...he averages 6 catches and 60 yards per game and has not been to the end zone since his freshman year against Bethel in  7 games total.  He won the MIAC MVP award based on his performance against lower division teams

Good luck to the Royals this weekend.

VOJ posts, board dies...

Don't take it personally, VOJ.  We missed around here during the season, mate.

Good luck this weekend Bethel.  The DIII world outside of MN is betting against you, but I believe in the power of power football.  Keep their offense off of the field, keep it close, and let the chips fall where they may.

I would like to see Mt challenged at least one time should they make it to the Stagg Bowl.

Seventies (and HSCoach for that matter) has been openly rooting for UW-W to LOSE, not get challenged. And now you give us a "here we go"? Cmon Skunks!   ;D

Is Ohio wine country?  The cheese and whine are going together so well on this board that it's making me hungry.

Abso-freaking-lutely I'm rooting for anyone other than Whitewater!  I'm getting sick of seeing you guys.

Especially with your copy-cat purple & black uni's.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
