Yeah? Well.. the Johnnies beat Bethel twice last night, so there!

Where the heck did that come from?  Gaining comfort from beating bethel in basketball? Things must be getting goofy in Collegeville.  Inferiority complex brewing?

Don't you read? I said "twice", i.e., basketball and hockey. There is comfort in that.

Hazzben,

You go to SJU and if it wasn't for the "old timers" (all of John's classmates and drinking buddies), we'd have more fans there as well.  .
SJU this year at BU is a prime example of how they will follow their team if they are winning.  If they had beaten UST the week before, there would have been at  John's classmates are just to old to travel that far when his team is losing.

You are aware that John went to Colorado College, right......? It is quite the travel schedule from Colorado Springs to watch a team that is out of the play-off race  ;)

Sounds like Scrubby's been hitting the cough syrup again ... If the Royals have more fans than UMU/MUC/MTU this weekend I'll buy him a sixer of Robitussin.

I'm not demanding anyone cheer for Bethel. But just know that when you don't, it comes off as petty and arrogant.

Really?? ::)

I agree that having the MIAC do well in the playoffs is great, but that doesn't mean I have to actively support the other teams. Since I haven't been cheering for Bethel so far, and they have been doing just fine without the Bennie Stamp of Approval, are you sure you want me to start cheering for them now? You are obviously not superstitious! ;)

Shoot, and here I thought I was being more subtle about pinning my hopes on Bennie's backing  ;)

It worked for the Johnnies in 2003! ;)
Now if I could only find a way to make it work for the Blue Jackets... :'(

Article about Bethel being in the semi-finals.

I got a kick out of some of coach Johnson's quotes

Oh, what's that?  Johnnies are doing their part to support Bethel?  What's that?  Frank chased Bethel to get this out not the other way around?

Wrap your petty jealousy up any way you like, but the Johnnie Nation provides a huge boost to Bethel just by it's existence and success.  The best damn article written on Bethel's post season is written in the Johnnie hometown paper by the Johnnie beat reporter.  I wonder if Bethel's brigade of more-honorable-than-Johnnies supporters feel a little smaller now?

(btw: those that follow Frank's twitter feed knew about this article two days ago.  Right in the heart of the lesson we had to learn about how to properly be a fan.  At least one of Frank's followers smiled to himself as he read the article and wondered if any BUer's would find and post it here.  Odd that it's a Warhawk who did the deed, no?)

I saw the article on d3football.com yesterday, but didn't think to post it...

It is a good article...the Strib hasn't come up with anything yet this week, I don't think.

And yes, it is true...being able to consistently compete with, and recently consistently beat, SJU is a good measuring stick for MIAC programs...I liked Johnson's comment about SJU having good teams for the past 5000 years... :D

They made the transition from navy to royal when they put the new basketball court in...although the team still wears navy uni's.  ???

Similar question on the SJU football jerseys...did they ever have a primarily blue jersey, or have they always been red and white?

No MIAC historians here to answer a relatively new followers inquiry?

Also, congrats to the regional selections...

I just came across it on d3football.com's front page, i thought some Bethel supporters might be interested in reading it...if they haven't already. that's all....

Come on, man!  I was riding a crest of high dudgeon like an old pro and you smack me down like a red-headed step-child.  Not that it wasn't there for the smacking, but still... :(

I think Scrubby overdosed on the Geritol.  :P That was funny, the "old timers" you should know. But really, only the old guys attend SJU games? You certainly have Johnnie envy.

I can tell you the story John Gagliardi told me...no idea if it is the truth or not.  Back when he became coach, red and blue was on the uniforms.  When it came time to order new ones, it was quite a bit more expensive to have both red an blue, so he stuck with red and white to save money.  And it has stayed that way since.

He lost any and all credibility when he referred to John's "drinking buddies."  Anyone worth his/her salt knows how John feels about drinking.

Johnnie wrestlers are ranked fifth in the nation ahead of the Auggies at sixth and the Cobbers in seventh.  Great showing by the J's and a great showing by the MIAC.  Our conference might be developing Iowa-like depth.

As a side question, can anyone remember when another MIAC team was ranked ahead of the Auggies, much less the Johnnies?

Johnnies were pretty good in the late 90's, maybe then?
