Wondering if anyone else heard about Hamline coach moving on??

For those that know the MIAC well, will coaches from within the MIAC (OC or DC's) from different programs go after this job?

What about the assistants from UST, BU, etc.  Who from those programs could handle the head job, Offense or Defensive Coordinator position?  I know Hamline lost a lot of very close games over the past few years. Might be a tough place to win, who knows.  Hope the head guy from there lands on his feet o.k..

Happy Holidays to all.

Hey all -

Just a Cheesehead weighing in here, one who will withhold all my snarky comments about Brett Favre  ;) ...

Just curious, though. What are your thoughts about the Vikings maybe playing (have they decided yet?) at the new U of Minnesota stadium? Anybody been there? Nice field? Pro-caliber?

It has to be better than the Dome, right? (Although I actually thought the HomerDome was better suited, or at least a better atmosphere, for football than baseball? But provided a tremendous advantage for the Twins and Vikings...) I mean, football, in Minnesota, outside, in December? Bud Grant and the Purple People Eaters have to be smiling about that! (Although I think they will all be pissed that they have to be standing out there in the cold on Monday night; aren't they honoring former legends?)

TCF Bank was build with pro football in mind and it has pro caliber locker rooms and training facilities.  If they can get all the snow out of it, it will be a great place for an NFL game.

In my opinion, it is the nicest facility (with one of the worst products) I have seen in the Big Ten.  I've been to Kinnick, Camp Randall, Champaign, the Big House, and the Shoe.  I'd rank them: (1) TCF (2) Shoe (3) Camp Randall (4) Big House (5) Kinnick (6) Champaign.

We have wrestling, the only winter sport that really matters  :P

We tend to agree that wrestling matters  ;D

I am pretty fortunate in that my wife doesn't like the site of snow on the sidewalk or driveway & since she is home well b4 me, if it snows on a week day, I usually don't have as much to blow when I get home;D However, I make up for that a little by clearing around the mailbox so she doesn't worry whether the mailman will be able to drive up to deliver the mail!!

The only other Big Ten stadium I've been to is Kinnick and I would rate them about the same from a spectators perspective. In my opinion they are both pretty blah when compared to NFL stadiums. Ive been to ever NFL stadium except Arrowhead and Oakland and TCF wouldn't rank in the top 15. I totally agree that it will be a great place to play one NFL game because of the atmosphere an outdoor game in December will provide. Anything more than that would be a negative for the Vikes.

Or maybe I'm just bitter because I'm going to be freezing my butt off all day Monday   >:(

After my post, I wondered how long it would take for a comment!!

Can't speak for UST or the other programs, but I don't see any BU assistants applying. Not for lack of ability, but they are all pretty loyal to the program (most are alums) and Hamline isn't a real sexy gig.

Who knows, maybe R. Gant will throw his hat into the ring via twitter. He seems to have the making of a player coach  ;D

^ Ha. True story, a good friend of mine was a starting Corner at Hamline 4 years ago; he's 5'5", 160, and he runs a 4.9... he gave up a lot of yards.

Watching the MTU vs. Bethel Game online today.  Why do Bethel's jerseys look like they are wearing Blue Collared Shirts under their uniforms?

Understatement of the year  :D

There's a bunch of Wisconsin school assitants in addition to some guy named Kehres interviewing for the River Falls gig.... maybe Hambone could grab one of the jilted interviewees.

Maybe one of the Johhnie assistants could be lured away.

Well... if he's not fit for any team in the conference then I reckon even using youtube would be beyond his capability.  Not having seen the video (kind of hard to see it with no link, eh?), I'm pretty confident that any team is fine.

I recommend Hamline.
