HAPPY NEW YEAR to the best D III fans in the country

Go BigTen!!  ???

The results of the bowl games thus far would normally seem like great news for my Huskers going into next year...And then I remembered what just happened when we played Washington for the second time, UGH!  :-X

It is never too early to start planning for the 2011 Stiftungsfestivites and who we should extend invitations to. Since we have not had much luck with Paris Hilton, I am thinking about inviting my first cousin once removed Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets and his girlfriend reality star Kim Kardashian to the tailgate. Kim was at the Target Center this past Saturday evening when the Nets played the Timberwolves. If she can make it to Mpls, you would think she would enjoy the trip to Collegeville to watch the Johnnies. ;D

I bumped into Kim while on Capri during the family's recent trip to Europe.  I said, "Stiftungfestivities?"  She replied, "That sounds like a wild night of German pron fun.  Sure."

I reckon we've got a chance.

I think you misspelled something OZ.  A quick google search for "Australian prawn" came back with a new idea for things to grill on the barbie at Stiftungfestivities,

also, it seems the Aussies also put prawns on their pizza:

Rumor has it that Brett Favre wants an invitation. He thought he could at least be the guest D3 photographer for the day.

Am I the only one who has noticed that ESPNs Reischea Canidate keeps calling the St. John's Redmen/Red Storm basketball team as the 'Johnnies'?  ??? ::)

They have been called the Johnnies in the NYC area since KS can remember, that is almost a half century.

Yep, no one in New York thinks of the Collegeville version if they hear the word Johnnies. In fact, most people have never even heard of it. And the New York one, as you said, is often called the Johnnies.

The student-chosen name "Johnny" is, in fact, a reference to the first days of St. John's athletics. At the turn of the century during the early years of intercollegiate competition, St. John's teams were actually known as the "Johnnies." It wasn't until the 1920s that "Redmen" was first used and that came about when a reporter used the term after the football team took the field clad in totally red uniforms.

If I ever wear a St. John's shirt or anything that says Johnnies, everyone thinks of the school in Queens, certainly because they have the same colors. A guy I work with came up to me and said, "Why would you wear that? You know I'm a Syracuse guy." A couple guys I played ball with had never heard of it. But Johnnies fans (Minnesota version) will be happy to know I did my bit to spread the propaganda: I sent them about a dozen links with stories about Gagliardi and the football team.

Time to get a new school name.  I mean, when I go to chicago and walk around in my team gear, everybody that comes up to me knows I played for the Northwestern in Minnesota.   8-)

Typical New York arrogance/ignorance. I watch O'Reilly mispronounce almost every polysyllabic city name west of Philadelphia. They consider themselves the center of the universe, and of all things of value, but know little of the rest of the country. We midwesterners, on the other hand, have knowledge of things far and wide. ;D

......and, by the way, I believe we (St John's of MN) are older than they.
