Rumor has it that Duffman will be participating in the Polar Plunge into lovely Lake Callhoun to raise money for special olympics.  Very cool.

You either have way too much time on your hands, or you've been talking to my dad again :)

A proud father forwarded your email to me and I thought maybe some of the SJU alum could open their wallets for a good cause.  The question is, "would you take a donation from a Tommie?"

This youtube is called Canoeing in McDonalds.

Yikes!  There's some serious flooding in Brisbane!

Stay safe, OzJohnnie!

OzJohnnie

I'm fine, thanks, Ralph.  Living down in Melbourne things are pretty calm this year.  The Western part of this state, Victoria, is seeing some flooding from the same weather pattern that flooded Queensland.

I bet Seattle wished there was a flood today.  Man, they sucked.  How down must the Saints feel after there monster choke last weekend?

Can't correct the 'there' on the blackberry.  Call me a Tommie for a day.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated--even Tommie money!

Is it too early to start promoting the 32nd Annual International Eelpout Festival on Leech Lake in Walker and the companion event at the Shamrock Lodge and Club Kego in Longville February 17-20? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Highlights at the Eelpout Festival include the Bikini Ice Fishing Team musical fashion revue Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Eelpout Karaoke featuring the Coyote Girls at Trappers Lodge Saturday from 10-2 p.m., the Eelpout Bowl Rugby Tournament Saturday at 11 a.m. on the ice and the Eelpout 500 On-Ice auto race on Garfield Lake in LaPorte Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The Shamrock Lodge and Club Kego event hosted by my Johnnie brother starts with the Pout Kick off party at the Anchorage in Longville Thursday, 2/17 at 9:00 p.m. On Friday, breakfast at the Shamrock Lodge at 9:30 a.m. Trail ride begins at noon for all the snowmobilers. More events in the evening at the Shamrock Lodge. Everyone leaves the muni liquor store Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. to head to Walker for the Eelpout Fest.

I can only describe this weekend as the biggest outdoor party in the state of Minnesota.

A couple photos out of the Queensland flooding that demonstrate well the Australian attitude.

The first is of a statue of Rugby League great Wally Lewis outside the flooded Suncorp Stadium.

And the second of a couple clowns enjoying the afternoon down by the Brisbane River.

Saw the D3football.com All-Decade Team over the weekend and had several thoughts, but one I wanted to throw out on the board to the SJU faithful.

When I saw that they had done it, I did a quick vote in my head of MIAC players from the decade who I deemed worthy of being on the list. When I thought St. Johns, 3 players stuck out in my mind as guys who absolutely needed to be on there. When I saw the list, only 2 of the 3 made it, the omission was replaced by a Johnnie who just has no business on this list.

I want your honest input. My 3 shoe-ins were: Blake "Johnnie Jesus" Elliot, Jeremy "Ingrained Football Instincts" Hood, and Damien "You Won't Run Between the Tackles" Dumonceaux. I can't understand for the life of me how Dumonceaux gets left off this list and Gunderson makes it on. The latter was really hyped up by the Johnnie propaganda. He was a very good player, but IMO, he never lived up to the hype (evidenced by never making 1st Team All-American). Granted injuries took a toll, but that's football.

Speaking strictly of Bethel, Gunderson was a guy we were very aware of, but never to the extent of Dumonceaux or Hood. We had to scheme for D and H, and they were absolute game changers. Gunderson was a talented player, but not in the same category as the other two and for a guy who never made 1st Team All-American, not sure how All-Decade makes sense. To be clear, I'm not trying to knock Gunderson, I'm maligning the fact the DD got the shaft on this list and an easy solution to him being left off would be switching out his fellow Johnnie.

Thoughts??

Other MIAC posters, guys from your teams you thought should have made the list?

+k to hazzbeen for the type of analysis on of we Johnnies should have put forward.

Also, listening to the KQRS Morning Show podcast I heard them refence the doll story I posted below.  The incident occured 10 miles from my house down here in sunny Melbourne, Victoria and not up in Queensland.  I must set the record straight and make sure we get proper credit for our young fools.

The only Knight that deserved any consideration was Ziller.  I didn't get a chance to see any of the other safeties on the list besides Car and I would say those two compare pretty favorably, though I may be biased.   ;D

Had to laugh at that one.  As a guy that played next to him for 2 years, I never knew exactly what he was going to do, but it worked out for him more times than not.

I agree completely with your assesment of Gunderson.  If he would have stayed healthy, I think he could have been up there with the best, but injuries really hurt his career.  Dumonceaux flat out got things done.  I definitely think he was more deserving than Gunderson.

Elliot definitely deserved the honor.  I don't think anyone would argue that.  Hood was a good choice.  Nice to see Cam McCambridge on the list, too, and I was surprised to see Beau LaBore wasn't on the list, but then I looked again and saw that he was indeed there.  :D

Honestly, like a lot of the upper echelon teams, there have been lots of incredible players at SJU, and with the amount of D3 teams out there, deserving guys undoubtedly were missed.

Big MIAC wrestling quad today...

QuoteSt. John's — ranked No. 6 in the nation in Division III — takes on St. Olaf again at 4 p.m., then faces No. 7 Concordia at 6 p.m. and No. 3 Augsburg at 8 p.m.

Too bad it is in Perham  :-[

EDIT:  That is what I get for trusting the SC Times for anything to do with wrestling.  The big MIAC quad is next Friday, the 28th.  ::)
