While watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse semi final games yesterday I heard that the Maryland program has been around for 80 years without ever having a losing season. I posted this tidbit on the NW Conference board as an incentive for the Linfield fans, since they are, rightfully, proud of their football team's record in this vein.

The Hawks sit third in the standings at 7-2 and have played 10 straight good quarters.  Teamwork, decision making and skills have all been good.  We play Geelong again in two weeks so we'll see how we stack up with the best then.  It will be a family night out on that Saturday as the wife is a kifelong Geelong supporter.  But the Hawthorn enthusiasm meter is lowly rising as the team is starting to show some pretty good form.

Thanks to all military veterans and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that others can live free.

Happy Memorial Day to all.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I'm going to gain about 3 bills so I can qualify to get on the show now.  ;D

To gain 3 bills, you just need to show up at the Stiftungfestivities more often.  You can see what it's done to JJR! ;D

Amen.  Get your flags out if they aren't already.

Premier this evening on Oxygen of "The World According to Paris." All you D3 fans who enjoy Paris Hilton will want to watch the show. 8-)

Got the invite out this morning to Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian to make it up to the Stiftungsfestivities and a Johnnie game this fall. I will keep you posted once I hear back.

The web denizens that keep johnniefootball.com alive may not realize, but I see that they have been linked on D3Football.com's St John's team page as the the "fan site."

If it's old news, then you may continue with your regular programming.  Wake me up from hibernation when winter is finished.

Pat Coleman

We've been linking fan sites for several years, for what it's worth. There might have been a short period when the new design was implemented that fan site links were missing, but in general, they've been listed for some time.

Saw this over on the WIAC board: The first set of preseason polls were released:

The Sporting News
1. Wisconsin-Whitewater
2. Mount Union
3. Wesley
4. St. Thomas
5. Mary Hardin-Baylor
6. Linfield
7. North Central
8. Wittenberg
9. St. John's (Minn.)
10. Montclair State
11. Wheaton (Ill.)
12. Wartburg
13. Baldwin-Wallace
14. Thomas More
15. Bethel
16. W&J
17. Cal Lutheran
18. Hardin-Simmons
19. Washington and Lee
20. Johns Hopkins
21. Cortland State
22. Redlands
23. Coe
24. Rowan
25. Delaware Valley

Lindy's Sports
1. Wisconsin-Whitewater
2. Mount Union
3. Wesley
4. Bethel
5. Mary Hardin-Baylor
6. Linfield
7. St. Thomas
8. Wartburg
9. Cortland State
10. Cal Lutheran
11. Thomas More
12. Rowan
13. Baldwin-Wallace
14. Wittenberg
15. Central
16. Alfred
17. North Central
18. Redlands
19. Ohio Northern
20. Hardin-Simmons
21. Trine
22. Louisiana College
23. Albion
24. Delaware Valley
25. Wheaton

A few of my quick thoughts:
Lindy's
--just took the final 4 and rolled it over a year...real daring ranking guys! But understandable with regard to the top 2.
--Wheaton at 25 seems low.
--Wartburg seems high at 8...I think they lose a lot of senior leadership from last years strong team.
--North Central at 17 seems way too low
--I don't think you can put Bethel at 4 until they run the table in the MIAC. If they do, they could be in the conversation, but there are a lot of quality teams that would be just as deserving

Sporting News
--Bethel actually seems a bit too low in this one.
--Coe is probably too low in both. Boyle is the real deal.
--North Central still seems low at 7. I'd probably put them up at 4.
--UST should be somewhere in the top 10, but I think 4 is high at this point.
--SJU at 9 seems like total name recognition. They didn't make the playoffs last year and lose their starting qb. Gags will put together a quality product--he always does--but with the two facts just noted, 9 in the preseason seems like a stretch. Like Bethel, if they run the table & win the MIAC, they deserve to be somewhere in the Top 10. But I wouldn't put them there yet.

After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Touchdown Tommy

Hello?!?!?! Anyone out there?!?!?!? Hello?!?!?!

...crickets...

Ok well the President of the CAC has been away on important business the past few months.  I've only read back to mid-April, so I hope everyone was well behaved in my absence.

Looks like the Tommies have all the key cogs coming in to win it all in 2011.  I mean have ya'll ever seen such a brilliantly composed press release(cough: yes of course I wrote it Shawn!!).

Clark I'm coming to the Bay Area in 2.5 weeks.  Let's do lunch!!!

In other breaking news following a long evening of cold beers on St. Anthony Main last week it was decided that the new editor-in-chief of JohnnieFootball.com will be none other than Mr. Johnnie Tats.  Please welcome Tats & share all comments/questions/complaints with him.

Veeeeeeeek where are you?  Get outta the free sampling lines at Costco.  The "Club" is waiting for you!!!

Touchdown Tommy

I forgot to mention that at the annual JohnnieFootball.com board meeting it was decided that the lovely & talented Red Hot Bennie will be offering a weekly column in an effort to spur female readership on the site.

Clark: I prefer the pool be at 85 degrees & that there is plenty of cold Yuengling in your fridge.  What can I bring you?  Cheese curds? Walleye? Grain Belt Premium? TC? Veek? Finsleft(if I can tear him away from the NASCAR track)?

TDT had the pleasure of meeting the original Touchdown Tommy at the Twins game a couple weeks ago thanks to an introduction from The Trickster.  I should also mention that TDT was in attendance at the Liriano no hitter on May 3rd at Comiskey with an old SJU classmate.
