Incoming Bethel Offensive Tackle Josh Perkins from Iowa Falls, IA recently received the Ed Thomas Award. It's given in honor of the former Aplington-Parkersburg High School football coach who was shot and killed by a former player a few years back in the school weight room. Its given to student-athletes who characterize the values of faith, family, and football—values Thomas instilled in his athletes throughout his time as a coach.

Great to have an incoming BU player who already exemplifies a commitment to the values that the program strives for.

Even greater to see that the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA) is honoring the memory of Ed Thomas in this way. He was a great football coach (multiple state titles and NFL players), but even greater man. The consummate example of what a husband, father and mentor of young men should be. Great call to continue his legacy in this way.

And I just can't resist one more pic: Revenge! :o

Which of the 25 pics did you have in mind?

Oh, definitely the first one.

They're all good and the second one looks ridiculously painful as well, but that bull is, shall we say, 'sticking it' to that matador! Look real close at where that horn ended up. Sweet, sweet revenge. I keep thinking of the song: 'anything you can do, I can do better, I can do anything better than you...'

I was afraid you were going to say that - and yes I can see the tip of the horn.  I'm not a fan of bullfighting but the pic doesn't exactly thrill me.  Can't wait for football.

I apologize for offending your delicate California sensibilities.  ;) ;D I still think it's a great pic and that the matador had it coming.  :o

Well, I got to spend the weekend at St. Thomas :P. As much as I hate to say it, I was very impressed with the Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex. Schoenecker Arena was very nice.

Johnnies could use a big play receiver, I hope this young man can make an impact!

That's good news!  He's a very talented and versatile player.

He'll definitely need to adjust to a couple things:

1. A school with some academic credentials

2. A clean football program. One that follows NCAA (or NAIA) rules and isn't filled with PED's.

USF has had some great teams the last 16 years or so. But they haven't exactly built those teams in the most honorable fashion. They're a far cry from how it seems UWW and Mount built their programs up. I'm guessing the change will be a pretty nice transition for the young man.

Yikez, hazzbeen. Not a fan of The Coo, I take it.

The amazing thing here is that from Duffman's post yesterday at 8:44am to hazzben's post today at 11:01am today, this board was silent for 26 hours and 17 minutes.  When was the last time the Minnesota board was off-line that long?  Is everyone okay up there?

The product on the field has been pretty incredible for The Coo the last few years. No question about that.

What bugs is the way they put that product together. I've seen firsthand the level they're willing to sink to. They might even be too shady for Tressel!  :o All that to say, the young WR heading to SJU will be encountering a very different program and school in collegeville.
