The amazing thing here is that from Duffman's post yesterday at 8:44am to hazzben's post today at 11:01am today, this board was silent for 26 hours and 17 minutes.  When was the last time the Minnesota board was off-line that long?  Is everyone okay up there?

Without ice fishing what is there to talk about.   ;D  ;)

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their summer. Was pretty busy not doing anything at the lake and playing with my Beer League softball lineup (Damn near finished .500! That's Roneyesque!), but now I'm focused on MIAC football...and lots of other kinds of football. Except futbol...and Australian Rules Football.

+ karma for that, got a laugh out of me.

It's definitely time for some football. I've been itching for about 4 weeks.

No...I went two years ago.  All I remember from John's comments was that St. Thomas would find a way to screw things up again.  Besides....Frank from the SC Daily Planet will have it all covered.

I hope the SJU staff has finally come to grips with the reality that the Tommie coaching staff knows what the hell they are doing.  I'm tired of sitting at #3 and looking up.

Funny story that I forgot to share:

Back on July 1st, my brother-in-law bought a "new" boat.  He was excited to get it on the water, so he called to see if I wanted to go with while he and his wife took their maiden voyage.  Of course I did, so we headed to a local lake.

Now, July 1st was hot and steamy.  Shortly after we had hopped in to cool off, a storm rolled it.  We high-tailed it back to the landing, but there was a long wait to pull out, and it looked as if the storm would be over quickly, so we just scooted back to the other side of the lake and decided to wait it out.

Well, long story short(er), the boat died and left us stranded as a wall cloud moved in.  We eventually got to shore and a nice, older gentleman gave us a ride back to my brother-in-law's truck.  Along the way, it came out that we were both Johnnies and that I played football.  He had not gone to SJU, but had a lot of friends growing up that did.  His next question..."When are the Johnnies going to beat St. Thomas again?"  :o

Anybody else sign up for Kickoff 2011 and not receive a password? I thought I was supposed to get one e-mailed to me right away but maybe it's still to come. I signed up a couple days ago..

And yes I have been checking my spam filter.

And like clockwork, here it is.  It even includes video of Gagliardi's greatest hits, including a shot at the new Tommie facilities.

OK, so I am not a computer genius. BDB registered for Kickoff 2011 but never paid for it. Nice try.  ;)

I am in receipt of my password now (after paying) and am looking forward to the launch of this year's edition.  8-)

I love a good poke at the Toms any day of the week. But, with all of the recent talk of Glen Caruso & Co. becoming the new recruiting machines of the MIAC, I thought this was a pretty bold statement:
"Gary has been running the recruiting show since around 1996 and this might be the best crop of recruits in that time," Novak said.

I'm surprised that that quote barely made it in. There have been some great classes that came up in the last 15 years.

That intrigued me as well.  The truth is that SJU has not really been in the "recruiting" game over the years.  The best player in the history of SJU (Blake Elliot) all but fell in their lap.  My understanding is that he really wasn't recruited by anybody and at the last minute (as in the month of August) decided to enroll at SJU (surprisingly the admissions office was able to find a place for him).  It will be interesting to look back at the end of the 2015 season and see how this class performed.
