...and the interview is Tom at his best: entertaining and very opinionated, on a wide range of subjects.

Love him or hate him, he's always entertaining!  I look forward to it.

Mr. Ypsi

It sounds like the Twins have given up on both the season and Delmon Young.  They just 'gave' him to the Tigers (in return they get Cole Nelson, a single-A pitcher with a 5-11 record and a 4.87 ERA, and the always promising 'player to be named later' :P).

Here's a request for the JF.com crew.  How about talking to some players/coaches this year?  It would lend more interest and credibility to your stories and site.  I can only read so much about how great the Johnnie Nation is and which nicknames belong to who.  Thanks!

That is an idea Duff, and of course we would welcome any contributions to the site from you. In Mexico till later in the week but upon my return I do have a nickname article ready to post just for Duff! I hope everyone who participates on this Board is ready for the season and to support thier team!

Hello-I havent been on this board for about 4years.  Curious to know peoples thoughts on upcoming MIAC season, I beleive UST/Bethel are favorites, but, are there any other contenders out there?

Also what is QB situation at SJU?  Hows their Oline/defense going to be?

Thanks everyone (anyone?)

Thome hits 599 and 600 tonight!

And he's just a class act as well. Go TWINS

Mr. Ypsi

As a Tigers fan, tonite's game sucked.

As a Peoria boy, the game rocked - Thome with HRs 599 and 600, 5 RBIs, and a standing ovation from Detroit fans who know class when they see it.

(Something I didn't know before this evening - of the 8 with 600 HRs, Thome is the oldest by nearly 2 years, but the second fastest in terms of ABs - Babe Ruth wins that stat by nearly 1500 ABs.  A late bloomer (haven't checked his bio, but as I recall he wasn't consistently in the bigs until his mid-to-late 20s), but no one accuses him of being a late bloomer like some of the others - he's the first non-steroid-tainted 600-club member in a long time! :P)

BTW, Delmon hit a HR in his first AB as a Tiger - we'll give him a chance! ;)

Miacmaniac, thanks for posting the article about the Stiftungsfest! The weekend of August 26-28 in Norwood Young America will rock ;D. I will be working the hamburger stand Friday evening until 9:00 p.m. and then will be listening to Hairball.

When you drive on highway 212 through Norwood Young America there are a number of billboard signs for the Stiftungsfest along the road. Very hot German looking babe. For some reason they got the spelling wrong for the celebration: Stiftungfest. Probably too many beers.

Big parade on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. I will be in the parade with my Tommie sister-in-law :P.

Good luck with Delmon, especially in left field.

No mention of our beloved JJR, but I'll bet he's the "jr" who left a comment. 8-)

Wasn't there a bet sometime back that Del was going to be the first 400 hitter since Williams & break Hack Wilson's RBI record?  :D

Touchdown Tommy

Clark when are you coming to Minny?  Can't wait to roll out the red carpet for you like you did for me this summer.

Plans are in the works for a roadie to Moorhead in September.  In fact, things have developed so quickly that Veek has begun research for the finest "clubs" in Fargo/Moorhead and will only be attending if his "Wingman" LBean attends.  Mick's Office and tailgating are on the agenda.

TDT will be making an appearance at the Stiftungsfest in NYA again this year.  Tremendous event.  BINGO!!!

I just went to the SC Times to read up on the 2011 Johnnies.  Man for a guy who is out at practice (beat reporter) on a daily basis, Frank R is just terrible.  Basically says nothing.  It was a wild goose chase just to find his "blog" and then once there a complete joke for information.  Might as well stick with Bennie soccer and cross country running...
