Believe it or not, this place is NOT in Minnesota.  Ran across it on our trip to Idaho and Montana; it's in Walkerville, on the north edge of Butte, MT.  [Edit: Click to embiggen]  Figured Fins would like it.

I'm loving the new look here on PostPatterns Pat! Well done.  :)

Just a reminder that the Stiftungsfest starts this evening in Norwood Young America. Stop by the hamburger stand since I will be working it from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. Hairball will be performing for the street dance which starts at 9:00 p.m. Tomorrow night DiamondBack will be playing. Parade Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. This is the 150th anniversary of Minnesota's oldest celebration. Website is www.stiftungsfest.org. Hope to see you there.

That MIAC preview is good!  I was quite impressed with it.

I found this interesting:
QuoteNew in the rulebook
There are a few new rule changes in the NCAA this year that will slightly alter the way the game is played, and hopefully each change will be a positive. The first isn't a huge factor in Division III, but now unsportsmanlike conduct penalties can be treated as live-ball fouls. That means if a player is flagged for taunting on his way into the end zone, the penalty will be enforced from the spot of the foul and negate the score, where in the past it was a dead-ball foul and would be enforced on the extra point or kickoff.

Kudos to the MIAC on the season preview.  Very well done.

That rule change is going to be interesting.  Can't wait to see a touchdown called back for taunting.   It's very subjective, I think its enforcement will be inconsistent.

Yeah, I just think this is a reactive can of worms the NCAA just opened up. So subjective. And while I hate taunting as much as the next guy, removing a legit TD from the scoreboard to penalize it seems like a disservice to the game. A guy really scored, but he was too cocky about it, so we're going to pretend like he didn't really score. I think this is a case of the Miami's of the DI world adversely and unduly affecting the more level headed play of the DII and DIII levels.

Retired Old Rat

I can't react to DII because I rarely see it.  I don't see this being a problem in DIII.  DI will have some fun with this one.

The rule is ridiculous. It is worth noting that it doesn't deal with celebrations after the guy's crossed the end zone - those will still be dead-ball fouls.

But you can't point at your defender, high-step, or whatever as you go into the end zone. Again, ridiculous.

I don't see a ref calling this unless it's in the middle of a 49-0 game.

Exactly. Can you imagine a TD being taken off the board in a tight, critical game with title (conference or playoff) implications.

The problem is, there will be some significant game soon where an official flags this and changes the outcome. When it happens at the DI level there will be all sorts of media and fan outcry. Just wait.

Happy Birthday Janesville Flash, where ever you are these days.  ???

BDB, you've got to lose the cat.  Since my reappearance on PP I've been having nightmares about that cat again.
