Retired Old Rat

It appears that Steve Fritz has been speaking with the athletic director at River Falls.  From http://www.tommiesports.com/ftbl/news/Tickets_8-24.html:

Football single-game general admission prices are $7 adults ($10 for the Oct. 1 St. John's game), and $3 for students (fans under age 5 are admitted at no cost).

I'm sure this will include zero seats on visitor side for SJU fans.  The only seats on that side of the field are the UST booster seats that are cantilevered over the visitors side of the field.

I guess the big payday of SJU bringing 3,000 to 5,000 fans is not enough.

Total lack of class.

A whole Hamilton? That's Yankee prices right there. One less post game beer at Plums I guess.

It's not the 10-spot that bugs me.  It's the fact that they raise their price for a regular season game simply because they know that more people will be there (I presume).

It's all part of an elaborate plan to get the fine folks of Central Minnesota to take out short-term high interest loans with Fritz's Pay Day Loans so they can afford to come to the game. Or perhaps to scare off the Macalester panhandlers outside the stadium with some grizzled woodsmen who can't swing a sawbuck.

I could not have said it better myself ROR.
Schools see a potential big pay day on tickets & concessions so they raise the price for SJU games.
Frankly, I'm surprised more schools in the MIAC don't pull this type of bull#*%# . Most times when SJU visits, it's a crowd bigger than the host school Homecoming game---> even if it's not Homecoming when SJU is in town.

The Johnnie faithful travel well and for this we are rewarded with higher ticket prices & parking charges  :o
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Where is AO?  I can't wait to hear his predictions for the SJU/NWBC game.  ::)

I am nearly positive SJU also charged $10 last year for the UST game and $7 for students, vs regualr $7 and $5.

It makes sense as there are a lot of additiional expenses incurred hosting a large crowd-- security for exambple, and renting temporary bleachers. I highly doubt either institution was "gouging" anyone. Multi-tier pricing is pretty standard at sporting events-- the Twins, for example charge more for games with "premier" opponents-- NYY, BOS, MIL, CWS.

uhm, yeah, the athletic facility and the soon-to-open Student Center are paid for by the genrousity of the Anderson fmily. (much like the Clemens family's donation paid for renovation of a certain football field and the Warner family donation paid for a state-of-the-art in the erly 1970s)  :)

It's a $3 difference. That's only a half-hour of work for a Johnnie. I'll spring for hotdogs for all of you if you can get in...as a show of good faith.

Pollyanna ;), just because someone has their name on a building doesn't mean that they donated 100% of the cost. Heck, even at a west coast university I am familiar with, "Uncle Phil" may have paid for the new student athlete academic center, but the university had to pay to provide parking facilities for the athletes while they are using the facility (interestingly, the lot is usually empty...). That was part of the terms of the agreement. I don't think it is that unusual for schools to have to provide matching funds (or a percentage of) for these kinds of donations.

Maniac, SJU charged the usual $7 and $5 last October.
