Bethel's motto in the 80's: A living testimony that Baptists don't dance, drink or score before marriage  :D

I'd give you some +k for that, but I already hit you on your post about reserving the visitor side stands at BU and SJU for the home team students when U$T comes to town.

As far as UST's QB race is concerned, it appears Greg Morse is not even going to throw his hat in the ring this year as he has decided not to play. Bummer...he wasn't the gamer Dakota is, but they definitely pushed each other.

Darn, we liked Morse better.   ;)

Yeah, you could really see the talent he had when he got to go deep into the playbook against Hamline. But when it came to big spots he rattled rather easily...Dakota doesn't have all the tools Greg does, but he could run a little better, had a shorter memory when it came to mistakes, enjoyed the pressure situations, and could still run the offense when getting pummeled by formidable defenses. True gamer. It's easy when you're up by 28, but the true test of one's QB prowess is when you're getting hit on every play like SJU, Linfield and especially Bethel are wont to do, and still able to function. Morse was not a fan of those types of games. Albeit, those are far from Dakota's best games either, but he hung in there and did enough to win, and didn't hang his head after a bad throw or pick, just went back to work.

Exactly why I like Morse better.  Tracy killed us last year.  He was the difference maker.  Without Tracy, SJU wins.

Is there a "pick'ems" board for the MIAC?

So I happened to drive by UST today because State Fair traffic and construction on I-94 is a friggin nightmare!!!  I have a very serious question about the SJU / UST game in late September.  WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYONE GOING TO PARK???  I thought I read somewhere that the UST attendance record is around 8,000.  This game could easily draw 10K+.  They have a parking ramp but I would avoid that like the plague...it will fill up in no time.
My suggestion is to put your bike on a rack and park about a mile or two away....since I live only 2.5 miles away I think I will be biking.

The wife and I saw a dude decked out in Auggie Tech football gear at Coldstone in Maple Grove last night.  After wondering why someone would advertise that they're an Auggie player ( ;D ), I remembered that that must mean it's football time!

This evening while driving down Randolph Ave next to the Cretin baseball field I spied a feller sporting and Augsburg Football t-shirt....coincidence???  I think its might be an omen.  Auggies are gonna run the table on the MIAC on their way to the Stagg Bowl!

I did that for the SJU/UST game last year in Collegeville.  It was slick!

Apparently not everyone agrees that a baptist should be able to poke fun of himself and dinged me accordingly  ::) Oh well, I thought it was funny...

The only danger at Nebraska is that the home fans would pay too many compliments to the visiting team.

Very true. As I watched Texas rip our heart out last year (or maybe it'd be more accurate to say I watched our receivers rip our collective hearts out with all the drops), it was nice to see the class of our fans. One guy stood up to heckle and curse out Mack Brown during warmups. Everyone around him gave the fan dirty looks and finally someone just laid into him to shut up and sit down. Unfortunately our play on the field that day didn't do much to put Texas in their place  >:(

We should have met up at the game.  I was down in the UT section in the south endzone, with my Nebraska born wife (I have a degree from UT and was there with a classmate but also did 2 years as a postdoc at UNL, so I've experienced both cultures/venues - no great loyalty to either).  Surprising game to say the least.  Yes, the Huskers dropped passes and the game.  Awfully nice folks, though.

You know who else had home seats right behind the visitors?  Friggin' Nazi's, that's who.

Oz, +K for the Office Space reference.  It made me laugh!

Hate to nitpick Duffman, but it's "You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair they made the Jews wear." So, it's not not an 'Office Space' reference, it's some d-bag making Nazi references about a football game.

I am quite aware of the actual quote, but I assumed that Oz was making a play off of it.  So it is a reference to Office Space, but not a quote from Office Space.  Don't try to lawyer me  ::)

We were right in your neighborhood. We had seats about 5th row directly behind the South endzone goalposts. We were there to celebrate my dad's 60th.

I grew up in NW Iowa (3 hours from Lincoln), and was falling in love with college football in the early/mid-90's. A pretty easy time to be a Huskers fan, to say the least. My dad played small college football in the early 70's, also an easy time to cheer for the Huskers. It'll be sad to see so many of the great rivalries go by the wayside with their move into the Big Ten, but Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn State are going to prove to be some great and budding rivalries as well.
