Don't ever hear BU supporters hanging their hat on their attendance numbers though.

Because their attendance sucks :)

Sucks in comparion to who, the almighty SJU?

St. Thomas' attendance last year was 26th-best in Division III. Bethel's was 31st.
http://www.d3football.com/notables/2011/02/sju-leads-2010-attendance

These are pretty good numbers compared to 85% of Division III, guys. Yes, SJU is tops in attendance but that doesn't mean everyone else sucks.

Concondia's attendance was 11th in 2010 in a tough season, no MSU-Moorhead game on the schedule, and being a couple hours' drive for any conference competitor caravan.

I agree with you, corn horn, and I think we can say that Minnesota rocks at DIII football loyalty.  (And that the other MIAC schools suck a lot less, on average and compared to SJU, than the rest of the country ;) )

How was the pregame atmosphere in Collegeville?  I'm hoping to make it up this Saturday, but things are dependent upon Mrs. Duff's cervix  ;D

Ok...I apologize for starting the attendance discussion...but let's not start discussing cervical dilation.   :o

Look up the meaning of "matriculate" before using it again.

I actually like the Oregon Ducks matte Black helmets. Other than that....................

You may not want to let her listen to the post game show for the next several weeks  ;)

Oops...I blame my error on Hank Stram.  I guess that's what happens from watching televised sports as a child and learnin' vocabulary from sports commentators.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matriculation
Matriculation
"In Super Bowl IV, American football coach Hank Stram wore a microphone on the sidelines as part of the television broadcast, and was caught telling his Kansas City Chiefs, "Just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys," referring to the process of moving the football toward a score. Since that time, and especially after Stram's death in 2005, sports commentators have used the phrase "matriculate the ball down the field" in this sense. However, this use of the word is unrelated to any other known use of the word."

Is the attendance conversation over? Too bad I missed it.

Typical Tommie, not in attendance.  ;)

Yes, it's probably over. The new discussion is Mrs. Duff's womb. And the SJU QB race from 2008. You're going to be begging for a return to the attendance discussion.

Sfury, whether inadvertently or not, you have stumbled upon the subtleties of my comment, +K. Now, if you don't mind, as a Tommie, I must retire to some place more "it" than this, ahem, bored, er, board.

That's almost as pathetic as our argument about attendance. Then again, arguing about who's got more friends (I.e. fans) probably isn't as sad as blatantly begging for more friends  ;D  8-)

Or as sad as perpetually ragging on a team about their home attendance, while simultaneously bragging about yours. Only to have your highest attended game ever, in the history of your program, league, and governing body (NCAA Division III), end in a shanked extra point...for a loss. Then, having to stand there, mouth agape, while the school you hate most on the planet, the school that has been your gridiron lap dog for the better part of a century, have their fans rush on to YOUR field, and daaaaaance, and dance and dance. Ouch. That is sad.
